Reylin's "Home" [Ranger Hall Barracks]

Reylin had spent a bit of time wanding the city after she entered Natura, mainly looking for the ranger’s hall. It had taken longer than she thought it would; Natura was larger than she had thought it would be. Finally, though, she entered a store and asked for directions. Armed with the new knowledge (and a sloppy drawn map to help with directions), she had finally came across what would be her new home.

Now she stood in an awe-like trance outside of the Naturan Ranger’s Hall. To her it was one of the most earthly and spell-binding structures she’d ever come across, even though she really didn’t have much to compare it to anyway. The trees stretched their branches over the Hall, like great natural protectors dedicated to their purpose. She found the columns to be marvelous – tall and dedicated, ornate and beautiful yet simple and plain. If she had to pick a part to call her favorite, though, it would be the sheets of metal carved into symbols of ivy and leaves. Carmelya’s grace must certainly be with them, to make even the unnatural glow with natural radiance.

Finally coming back to reality, Reylin entered the Ranger’s Hall, stumbling a little out of nervousness. Once inside, the first thing she noticed and walked over to was the noticeboard holding a parchment with the requirements to becoming a Naturan Ranger. Reading over it, she nodded slowly. She wasn’t sure yet if being a ranger is what she wanted for herself, though she felt pressure from her father from it, but she knew she had time to figure it out.

“Vedui! Can I help you?” a female elf, young but still older than Reylin approached with a smile.

“Oh, yes. Vedui…” she began as she turned to face the dark brown haired elf. She pulled a letter from a pocket and handed it to her. “I’m Reylin Lythalas. My father made arrangements for my living here.”

The woman looked at the letter and nodded, “Of course, Reylin! Right this way.” The woman led Reylin farther into the interior of the hall.

The woman led her to The Barracks, showed her to what would be her bed, then disappeared. The walls were made of muted gray stone and the ceiling tall. The room was probably the coldest area she had been in the hall. The rest of the hall seemed more warm and friendly and generally inviting. The difference was shocking for her, but the room was at least lively. People of all races moved about busily.

She sat hard on her new bed, the sound of wood creaking and feathers crunching beneath her. It wasn’t what she was used to, but it was good enough she supposed. A plain white sheet was stretched across the mattress with a single pillow at the head. At the foot of the bed she noticed a footlocker to use for storage, though currently she didn’t have much to put into it. Lying on down on the bed, she put her head on the people and closed her eyes to rest for awhile.
