Arvont is unknown and forgotten
[Conservatory] Harp's Grace

First Dianara, Melora, Spring, Era XIV

It had been a few cycles since Arvont last walked down the serene courtyard of the Bardic Conservatory. As before, the garden was flourishing, and the Conservatory itself was as ivy-covered as before. Small birds chirped across the canopy as Arvont strode up the wooden doors.

As before, he knocked softly. The music once more tugged upon his mind, clearing his thoughts and calming his body. It was nice, he thought, that there are places in Aelyria that can produce such melodies. As he waited for someone to open the doors, he looked over the peaceful gardens and listened to the serenade of the Conservatory.

The masterbard tapped Arvont on his shoulder gently and smiled. Auhren had not changed even a little since Arvont last saw the masterbard, the ever patience of an elf, and the gentleness the breeze was still there. ”Why did thou knockth on the door of the room that belongs to thee while training?” Auhren mused. ”Enter, enter the room and tellth me what you know about the harp and its playing”

Auhren pushed the door opened and seemingly floated through. The masterbard set his golden harp carefully and sat at the seat where Auhren had grew accustomed to when he was tutoring Arvont on the ways of Songs.

ooc: Sorry for the short and uninspired post, and it took a long time. I will attempt to reply both your thread once a day if not more…

Grinning, Arvont followed the old elf into the Conservatory. The calming music strengthened, and Arvont's mind became, as usual, more peaceful. He greeted a few bards they met, and when his teacher asked him what he knew of the arts of the harp, he took a moment to gather his thoughts and probe his emotions.

"Well, the harp can produce such wonderful notes. It's like...like..." Arvont sighed with emotion, and continued, "Like the trill of a songbird, like the cascading water of the falls, like the whisper of leaves. Calming, soft, and wonderful. It's hard to explain it with words, masterbard." Arvont smiled with a slight defiance, and looked at Auhren.

"Indeed..." The masterbard replied softly. "Alas, as a bard, one must learn, try to explain music to many. I for one had learnt, through the ages, that I have to explain how a duck sounded like to a land where the sands roamed free and ducks entered roasted." Auhren sighed a little as he taught of the desert land he had visited so many patterns ago.

"I would begin teaching practically first for I am not one that love technicality, and I do not have many students that actually love it, but alas, a bard have to learn everything about their instrument, lest a half knowlegable sirrah knew just that bit more than thee. A shame, a shame it wilt be" Auhren musical voice swept through the air, filling the room. The golden harp of Auhren sat carefully on his lap while Arvont was engrossed in listening to the masterbard's sad sweet song, and when he noticed, Auhren smiled a little and said. "Now, watch carefully, for after I stop and replace my harp, it's time for thee to taketh thy harp and learn its music."

Auhren held the harp up carefully, ensuring the correct sitting and holding postures were made. He started with placing his right thumb carefully at the end closer to him, and stroked forward, then backward. Next, he allowed the other four fingers on his right hand to touch the string and stroked forward and backward. The strokes, whether using the thumb or the other four fingers were gentle, yet firm, and the sound it produces sounded rather heavenly, even though only the basic scales were played throughout the two different tries.

As Arvont took his harp from this table, Auhren just leaned back and look. He wondered if Arvont was like his previous student, observant, but untalented, or was Arvont like that student's friend, another student of Auhren, talented, but unobservant. Auhren hoped if Arvont was to fall into one of the two categories, he hoped Arvont was not talented, for talent could be overcome by hardwork, but it would be hard work for Auhren if the student was unobservant.
