Timestamp: The first brightening of spring

He thought he had thought about it long enough, though in the end after all of the cards were played and revealed he wanted to take a different course of action in his life. The rangers were a very noble bunch, as were the druids and so this left Basaerial conflicted. From what he understood the two worked together so he didn’t think that things would be too chaotic when he explained that his mind has been changed, and hopefully he wouldn’t be seen as a trader either. The elf was sure that he would be able to work something out with the rangers so there were no hard feelings, he would also like to thank them for their hard work.

That is why he was at the ranger hall on the first brightening of spring, he had time to think about it again and again and every time the answer was obvious, he was in the wrong path. He was concerned though, he wasn’t accustom to changing his mind so rapidly, it had only been two seasons but he felt it in his heart that if he continued with the rangers he would just be deceiving them longer and longer, making it that much more awkward when he admitted to them his feelings that he has.

He walked into the hall slowly looking around until he seen Mistress Owaten, the same woman he had talked to about join with the Rangers. He waited until she wasn’t talking to anyone then approached her with a small bow. ”Serale Mistress Owaten, if you have a moment I would like to speak with you” he asked not sure what else she had to do this brightening nor how long it would take him to fully express his feelings, something he wasn’t really comfortable in doing.

If she had enough time for him he would tell her slowly minding his words carefully. ”I regretfully must inform you that I believe I have made a mistake in taking training with the rangers…not that the training was inadequate, it was very informative and detailed however it is the rangers that I think is wrong for me. I do not think I have the fight in me to do what you and the other rangers do. I want to be able to help, but I don’t think that this is the right way for me.

“I will tell you the truth, it is with the druids that I wish to see training with. As I understand you two work closely together and so I would hope to see you and the other rangers as well and help out in any way that I can. I can pay for the time of the instructors that I have foolishly wasted. You must think I have a scattered mind and change my decisions all the time but that is usually not the case and I would hope that you forgive me”

Owaten stood silently as Basaerial spoke to her, explaining a situation that Owaten seldom saw but did, when it happened, regret. The Druids and the Rangers were intertwined and yet completely set apart from one another in a way that those who could not, at first, see the difference, began to see as their training commenced.

At the end of it all she nodded, arms folded over her chest as she drew in a deep breath, her full height realized as she lifted her chin. "I am glad you have come to speak with me on this matter, Basaerial, and while it does surprise me that you have come to such a conclusion so soon into your training, you have brought to my attention something I had not previously seen in you."

She smiled thinly, although it did not reach her eyes. "While the Rangers might not suit you, Basaerial, you do not seem to fit them either. To become a Ranger you must have fortitude and strength of character. We want someone who knows what they want. Who knows that they wish to be a part of what we represent and value. We need someone of conviction. I believe the Druids would be agood for you, Basaerial. While they do not lack convictions, they have more room with which to maneuver. More room for you to find your space, your footing." She frowned, narrowing her eyes as she peered around the hall. "I need people who desire to serve as a Ranger. If you are not such a person, then I would not have you."
