Initiate Song Training - Bobbity/Loudmouth
The fifth Brightening months of Immanis in the Season of Spring, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum, the Second Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne.
This is what he had been waiting for. Bobbity went to the appointed place ready and anxious to take his first step toward being a Bard and learn Song.
All his life the Pixie has enjoyed singing, whether it was he who was doing the singing or if he was listening to someone else sing. Since his arrival in Natura this desire and ambition had increased. He had the opportunity to hear a Bard sing and realized how much more there was to learn in order to attain that proficiency. He also experienced the healing that Song could accomplish. Bobbity was ready to do whatever was needed to attain his goal.

OOC: a thousand humble apologies for the delay Bobbity. I realize this is taking place right after your previous thread but just for refrence, I was wondering if you could stick a timestamp up there if you have on figured out.
IC: Bobbity had done much to prove himself capable of taking on the task of being a bard. The proof of this laid in the fact that Auhren, the master bard of Natura had agreed to take the pixie on as a student.
Sure enough, as the next day rolled around and Bobbity waited anxiously, his teacher arrived. They were in the henges and Auhren greeted the pixie with the stoic elven smile he possessed. He carried with him a medium sized sachel, tied up on his side. "Salutations my tiny friend. It is good to see thee on this morn. Come and walk, or fly if it is thine preference beside me and tell me about thyself. I wish to get to know my pupils and what hast brought them to this path before we begin with the training."
The henges were indeed a beautiful place for a walk and Aurhen was attentively eager to listen and hear his story. He walked with his face looking foward ready to take it all in. The elf looked as if he were prepared to listen forever should that be the length of time it took for Bobbity to tell it. Hopefully this was not the case.

Bobbity returned the smile and waved to ensure the greeting was evident. He was flying at about eye level of his teacher.
"Serale, the pleasure is mine, I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I think I'll continue flying, my short steps would be no match for your stride."
Bobbity started talking, "Well, as a youngster, which was not too long ago....... In fact I guess I still am a youngster. Anyway, as a youngster I liked to sing. I like to hear other people sing. I liked to hear birds sing. I liked to hear insects sing. I have found that some insects sing just a sweet a melody as do birds. It is a pleasure to listen to them.
"I have been working as an investigator lately. It has kept me busy but there is always time for singing. In fact it does not really take any time at all. You can do almost anything while you're singing.
"Being a healthy normal Pixie I strive to have lady friends with whom I can share life's pleasures. Such relationships are often an inspiration for singing.
"I have a home inside Natura. I found a lovely bush in a park in Natura. One of my lady friends helped me craft a home inside the bush. It is surprising what can be done by twisting a few branches, adding twigs and leaves and then making furniture and a bed out of spanish moss. If the lessons call for me living out here, I can make another cozy home in this area.
"That's about it in telling you about me. I hope that someday I can get even a little close to singing the way you do."
All the while he was talking, Bobbity took in the beautiful scenery in the henges, admiring and enjoying every bit of it.

Aurhen listened intently as Bobbity discussed himself. He nodded a few times but never interrupted. When he was sure that the pixie was done he commented on what he had said.
"mmm, yes little one. Thy heart seems to be in the right place. Thine ears are atuned with the music of nature, some of the most beautiful music this world has to offer. I do not envy those who do not appreciate the simple songs of the insect as something beautiful. Draw inspiration from thy sings Bobbity. Take inspiration from the pleasures of thine life. Good food and drink, nature, even thine lady friends can be the source of the most beautiful music. And indeed, there is not bad time to sing."
They came to a clearing at the edge of a bundle of trees. A pefectly serene place and Auhren stopped. This was the place they were to continue their discussion. Auhren placed his bag down and then sat, cross legged on the ground. He motioned for the pixie to do the same. "Now Bobbity, what if I told thee that everything in this world is made up of the same thing. Me, you, the grass, the trees, it is all made up of Vis." Auhren let that word resonate for a minute as the concept of vis is the cornerstone of any magi's training. "Vis is the energy that makes up the things of this world. As with everyhting, however, thine energy has a couinterpart. In this case, it is ara. Ara is all around us and everywhere. It is the same energy as vis only unbridled and...chaotic if ye will. These two energies are the basis for our casting, Bobbity."
Auhren let this settle in for a bit. For all he knew Bobbity knew this already and if so expected him to stop him right there. Otherwise, the floor was open for questions before he continued with the lesson on basic arcanaic principles the Pixie would have to grasp if his music were to eventually carry the powers of magic along with it.

After his own discourse about himself, Bobbity listened to what Aurhen had to say. It seemed that they were pretty well in agreement. Singing is universal, amost everything sings in its own way. Wind is a manisfistation of the air singing. Water sings when its path is spit by a rock. One of the sweetest songs is rainfall. It pleased Bobbity that his thoughts were in line with someone so talented and skilled.
When Aurhen mentioned lady friends being the source of the most beautiful music, the Fae noddded in agreement. "The voice of a charming lady friend is often a song in itself. Not only that but the mood they create makes one better recognize and better appreciate other song that is around us."
Then they reached a clearing at the edge of a cluster of trees. A very peaceful place and Auhren chose to stop there. This was likely the place for the foprmal lesson. Auhren placed his bag down and then sat, cross legged on the ground. Bobbity did the same. The Elf then went on to explain that everything in this world is made up of the same thing. All of us and all plants. He called it Vis, the energy that makes up the things of this world. Then he said that our energy has a couinterpart, which is called Ara. Ara is all around us and everywhere. It is the same energy as Vis only unbridled and chaotic. These two energies are the basis for casting.
When Auhren paused, Bobbity said, "So this Vis is the orderly energy from which we are made. Ara is all the other energy that is pretty well out of control. What an interesting concept!"

OoC: requested to pick this up via PM. NPC usage / description / etc based on Natura training info thread. Cheers!
OoC2: some location / NPC (Auhren) / spell descriptions credits to Odyleon in his training thread here!
Master Auhren smiled at the pixie's comment about Ara and Vis being so interesting. "Thou hath no idea", the bard only said before chuckling lightly. "Thou hast not been Unbound yet, no? Perhaps we will get to that first. Thou wilst see that Ara and Vis are more than imaginary, theory based ideas. These are lively, influencial essences in our lives."
"Now before thou art Unbound", the elf lord continued, "have thee any magi in thou family? If so, that would make thee gem-blooded and the process much easier to accomplish. If not, thou should find a spot comfortable to sit or lay down." The bard looked around the bundle of trees and quickly found a fairly large branch that was just beneath his eye level. "Mind thee if thou lay here for now?"

Bobbity was paying very close attention to this. He was already told how important both Ara and Vis were. Now there was this business of being unbound. It too was obviously important but the young Fae had no idea why. The most important matter was that he needed to get a handle on all this in order to become a Bard. That was his ambition.
Then Master Auhren asked if he had any magi in his family. The Fae replied, "No". Then Bobbity found a spot that appeared to be comfortable and sat down. Then the Bard told him to lie down. The Fae then did just that, making himself as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

INITIATE
Novice bards are usually just beginning to learn their instruments, and so commence their studies learning basic theory of music, the elements of drama and storytelling, and a variety of practical arts and crafts.
Anthem of Aelyria
The Imperial March of the Aelyrian Empire, written originally by High Queen Melody de Lylles, is the stirring national anthem of the Aelyrian Nation. When played by a bard, it invokes the spirit of glory causing two notable changes in the party about the musician: combat skills will be executed with greater haste and efficiency, and everyone will find themselves stronger and more determined to proceed with morale.
Chant of Conquest
Emperor Constantine's Chant of Conquest is actually a spirited march that heightens the soul. So long as it is played, the bard's party will find themselves having increased military reflexes, higher strength, greater dexterity and endurance, and most significantly, a more aggressive and patriotic attitude.
Cinthera's Accelerando
Sincopated rhythms are the trademark of this eternal classic written by a Medonian princess. When played, Cinthera's Accelerando enables the party with the bard to travel at an increased pace and accelerated velocity.
Healer's Hymn
A soothing praise of the gods and nature, the Healer's Hymn is a graceful tune that causes a light healing aura to descend upon the party and regenerate the life force by closing wounds and stimulating the body to engage in accelerated mending.
Lullaby for Leland
Named after one of the Empire's earliest Imperial Consuls, the Lullaby for Leland is a tranquil song that is played to provide comfort, security and an aura of safety to those seeking rest. Monstrous creatures and most beasts will not attack a camp sanctified by the lullaby, and those that sleep to its graceful song will awaken refreshed.
Scales of Dissonance
An ear-piercing scream of alternating, opposing chords that rivet up and down the scales creates one of the most cacophonous, but simplest, pieces of music known. The Scales of Dissonance will produce a wave of light damage for the duration that it is played in an area of effect designated by the performer of this dreadful piece.
Sonnet in Solo
Reciting a poetic phrase to a sweet melody, the bard who plays this song shall enchant his weapon with a glowing vortex of energy that provides increased magical damage upon use. The aura lasts as long as the song is played.
The bard smiled. It mattered very little, actually, whether the fae had any blood relatives who practiced Arcana. By its very nature fae were born of magic, so they were just as easily Unbound as the next gem blood. Still, a little awareness of his situation could have been handy. Shrugging inwardly at that thought, Master Auhren ran his hands against the sides of his robes before clasping them as one would before praying.
"Thou may feel a slight headache, or internal termoi", he said with a slight smile, "take no heed, worry not", he added, "it is normal enough for most initiates. I will Unbind thee now. Closing thou eyes may help. Just ... listen to my song..."
Taking in a deep breath, the handsome bard slowly emitted a mid note and sustained it. This was his way of warming up. Then, he allowed his rich, pleasant tenor do the rest. The melody was brisk, happy, and fit for a light dance. It went as follows:
"Atop the tree tops they sing and dance,
never melancholy.
Their wings, they glitter as they prance,
that's their only folly.
My feathery friends are a foolish folk,
though I love them anyway.
Be like them, mine friends up there,
their wings never ceasing.
Thou mind, it shall carry you,
to places thou hast never seen.
The beauty is Arcana,
its secrets thine to behold.
Allow its wings to carry thee,
farther than the treetops,
and all these things."
OoC: You are now Unbound. Hullucinations / dreams / stuffs that you see are 'normal'. Feel free to roleplay them out!

Bobbity closed his eyes and relaxed. He was good at relaxing. The Fae did not have a care in the world. He just might have fallen asleep were it not for the beautiful song that the Bard sang.
His rich voice was as inspiring as the first time Bobbity heard it. The young Fae was even more anxious than ever to be a Bard. Oh, to be able to sing like that.
The words put him in a reverie
Atop the tree tops they sing and dance,
never melancholy.
He was taken back to the Governor's party, when he danced near the top of the large evergreen tree at the Governor's Holiday Ball
Their wings, they glitter as they prance,
that's their only folly.
There was his lady friend, in his dream, with wings as pretty as any, having a great time
My feathery friends are a foolish folk,
though I love them anyway.
She loved those pranks and played tricks on him whenever given the chance
Be like them, mine friends up there,
their wings never ceasing.
He imaged himself up there flying among the many beautiful Fae
"Thou mind, it shall carry you,
to places thou hast never seen."
He found himself drifting on the warm breezes above the tree tops.
"The beauty is Arcana,
its secrets thine to behold."
It truly was a magic of sorts that created the beauty he was now surrounded by.
"Allow its wings to carry thee,
farther than the treetops,
and all these things."
Bobbity felt himself first floating in the air and then soaring to heights he never imagined, looking down at the forests that seemed to be a hedge of sorts. He seemed to float as a feeling of euphoria blotted out any further thought. He experienced an elation that he had never felt before.

Forging the spell into his song, the Master Bard literally unlocked Bobbity's mind by removing a mental 'block' that Bound all races to their five senses. By Unbinding the fae, Auhren provided a new pathway for the initiate to percieve the the world around him -- but not without some effort, of course.
It took about a candlemark or so before Bobbity regained consciousness. By this time, Master Auhren had already found a suitable spot to sit and sing as he waited. There was no time wasted for the bard, for each moment was a blessing in itself; time was always something to be thankful for.
"Ah, thou waketh", he said with a smile, "how doth thou feels? A headache is normal, minimal for your race. Thou wilt feel better with time and patience. When thou regains thy strength, go home for the brightening. We shall ajourn our lessons on the morrow, understand? Serale, for now."
The following brightening:
Master Auhren awaited his pupil in the same location as their previous lesson. He wore a simple amber set of robes, designed minimally unlike some of the scholar and Master robes that other magi saw fit to flaunt. He was a simple man, though he considered himself a little more proudly than others may come to believe. His sparkling eyes and sharp features revealed a soft smile when the fae did arrive. They were having their first lesson, an actual one this time.
Arcana was filled with mystery and great power. Between the two, many magi get lost, obsessed by the wonders they now have access to. But Auhren believed that magic was something to befriend, never control. It was a part of life's many cycles, much like a companion or a good friend.
"Serale", he greeted with a friendly wave, "how doth thou feel? If thou art willing, we will cover some basics this lesson. Fret not, however, for we shall do our series of spellsongs only after thou art ready to access thy new abilities. Now", he smiled, "have you any songs thou knoweth by heart? If so, kindly sing it for me. I would like to hear it."

By the time Bobbity regained consciousness, Master Auhren had already found a suitable spot to sit and sing as he waited. There was no time wasted for the Bard. After greeting Bobbity with a smile, he sent the Fae home, telling him that they will resume lessons on the morrow, and then bade him, Serale.
Bobbity left, feeling a bit peaked and slept long and well that darkening. On the next brightening he returned for his first lesson. Master Auhren's sparkling eyes and sharp features revealed a soft smile. The Pixie greeted his mentor with a sincere smile and said, 'Serale, Master Auhren". After greeting the Fae, Auhren said, "If thou art willing, we will cover some basics this lesson. Fret not, however, for we shall do our series of spellsongs only after thou art ready to access thy new abilities. Now", he smiled, "have you any songs thou knoweth by heart? If so, kindly sing it for me. I would like to hear it."
The Fae replied, "I have many songs. I love to sing." Standing as tall as the little fellow could, Bobbity sang..........
Yes, read the pages of the old-world story,
Of kings of noble deed and noble thought
Of heroes whose resplendent crown of glory
Bound their wide brows, unsought.
But be not sad because their work is ended,
And they have rest which life so long denied:
They still live in the world which they befriended,
For which they lived and died.
Great deeds can never die : all through the ages
Their fruits increasing ever grow and spread,
And many a deed unnamed in written pages
Lived once--and is not dead.
And, God be praised, man's work is not completed,
There still is work on earth for men to do;
Not yet, not yet are all the false defeated,
Nor yet crowned all the true.
Still the world needs brave deeds and true hearts many,
Not yet are all the noble battles won!
We too, we too may do deeds great as any
That ever yet were done.

"A beautiful song, it is!", the Masterbard noted with a warm smile and a gentle wave of applause. "I think thou art a very promising, pupil, Initiate Thornberry. Now that thou hast shown me thou wondrous voice, I shall attempt to instruct thee in the matter of Arcana."
He gestured for Bobbity to come flutter a little closer before he began.
"Now that thou art Unbound, thine mind is set free to wander and mingle among the difference Essences beyond the sight and senses of the Mundane, the Bound population of Telath." He paused a moment, perhaps to allow the fae to absorb the first bit of his introduction. "This world, this Plane is made of eternally intermixing Essences. It is what makes Telath, the Material Plane, 'solid', or 'visilbe' to just about everyone who has eyes or sight. But there is a Plane, a whole new world, that only the Unbound, the magi, can see and influence. This is called the Astral Plane -- the crossroads of every mage. From there, they must seek out their Sphere or School's Essence Plane. As Bards, we draw our spell's power from the Plane of Song or Music." He paused again as if awaiting any questions the fae may have. If there weren't any quetsions, he proceeded.
"How, then, do we as bards access this Plane of Music? How dost thou access thine new talents to cast spells?" The Masterbard simply smiled then took a deep breath. "Only by clearing one's mind, one's thoughts, can a bard access the trance state of Clarity, or Clara. Has thou ever attempted to meditate before, Initiate Thornberry? As a beginner in Spellsong, thou will find this task grueling, perhaps even frustrating. Fret now, for I shall guide thee. We have much time to practice this foundational step. Now, if thou hast no questions more, please attempt to clear thine thoughts and meditate. Attempt to focus on thine breathing, control thine emotions and thoughts. Set thine mind free!"

Bobbity was quite pleased when he received the compliment from the Bard. He was indeed anxious to reach his goal of becoming a Bard himself and the words of encouragement boosted his spirits even higher than they usually were. The Pixie was a happy young fellow and rarely did a worry or negative thought cross his mind.
In response to Auhren's gesture, Bobbity fluttered over closer and listened attentively. This matter of being unbound was all new to him. He had a lot to learn but fortunately he had a mentor who was willing to guide him.
The Fae understood the importance of the Astral Plane, that was where a Bard got his spell power. Then the Pixie endeavored to do as he was told. He cleared his mind of any thoughts, trying to relax his mind as he would relax his body when going to sleep. He was not one for meditating but he did try his best.
He focused on relaxing his breathing, making it rested, slow and easy. He attempted to clear his mind of any thoughts or feelings. He tried to avoid exercising any control over his mind.
