PWN: Players Without Nets
Beta Test Version: Feel free to leave comments and constructive criticism. Thanks to everyone on the forum and in chat who helped out!
PWN: Players Without Nets
freefalling and loving it!
Quote:

Characters whose signatures contain the [PWN!] symbol will not hesitate to do wild, crazy, rude, weird, obnoxious, surprising, daring, risky, or unconventional things. The actions of these characters do not in any way reflect the views or opinions of the players behind them.
|
Players Without Nets (PWN) is a group of players who use the net-free method of roleplaying. These players are constantly striving to break out of the constraints of expectation and pre-planning and are dedicated to the holy relics of curveballs, runaway ideas and character-driven plots. PWN in no way implies that any style of roleplaying is better or more acceptable than another: PWN simply allows players to express their views and styles in a fun and easy way.
If your ideal roleplaying scenario rubs the norms the wrong way, you would be a perfect member of PWN! It's incredibly easy to join: all you have to do is read the following statements, then copy and paste the vB code after it into your signature to show that you agree with and use the net-free method of roleplaying. That's it!
Quote:

The Players Without Nets Net-Free Roleplaying Method
1. My character will not hesitate to act in ways that might totally screw up a moderator's plans, where it is appropriate for my character's personality.
2. My character will not hesitate to act in ways that might offend, annoy, traumatize, or physically harm another player-character, where it is appropriate for my character's personality.
3. My character will not hesitate to act in ways that could potentially affect a wide number of characters or a wide geographical area.
4. My character will not hesitate to envision, create, and pursue any idea that comes into his or her mind, whether it be an original gadget, a new club or guild of which my character is the leader, or the building of an entirely new town.
5. My character will not hesitate to destroy, condemn, hate, or speak out against things, people, or ideas that he or she feels are evil, unethical, or just in the way of my character's goals.
|
If you agree to the above statements, simply copy and paste the following code into your signature. As long as the PWN symbol remains in your signature, you will be considered a member and a follower of the net-free method:

Guys, guys! PWN is the beta version of CIA! ^^; It's the same thing, only enhanced and improved.
You don't have to re-post the statements, either. Just stick the thinger in your signature, and you're all set!
This thread is basically for comments and criticism, unless no one has any problem with it.

I no longer have a problem with this.
But I do not need a few dumb letters in my signature to prove it. I'm too cool, even for the cool kids club!

I don't think Ankou or Haz need this anyway; they're already famously rude and crude.

I know you guys are badass, but when your character is aware that they are confronted with a superior or god I think it is alright sometimes not to state your opinion openly. Doing so under some circumstances is just plain stupid.

Haha, yeah, you're right. I guess sometimes that would fall under the category of Darwin Award.
I'll just take out that little part, and it'll be ok, right?

*eyes the previous post*
I think constructive criticism was asked for.
Anyway, I still dislike this whole notion if only because it now looks like a badge of identity for PCs who have a character concept of being outspoken, violent, annoying and likely to smack down anything which gets in their way - rather than a statement of saying "I'm going to stick to my character concept. If my PC's actions offend your PC in character, do not take offense OOC" - which I think was the original idea that fuelled this. I dislike the negativity of some of the statements.
But, this sort of thing is never going to please everyone and if the players who are putting the PWN into their signature are happy to do so, then so be it.
I still don't think it's necessary. Wearing a badge to say you're going to stick to your character concept - and to warn other players that you're not going to bend to the pressure of 'playing nice' because they might be offended OOCly - really isn't needed.
I'd rather, when a player voices their hurt through PMs or OOC notes or whatever, see people just tell them straight - it's a game, it's an IC response, if you take things personally on an OOC basis then it will be impossible to react realistically because of worry of hurting you.
No response needed. Just adding my comments.
