The Background and History of Zinn'Sunn
When thinking of
Zinn’Sunn and its history, one must remember that the word “
kemite” means outlander in common. The
Kemite peoples traveled across the western border of
Aelyria fleeing the
Xet Inviasion which all but destroyed their once-peaceful coastal nations. They were a rag-tag group of refugees bringing with them the intimate knowledge of what it meant to be hunted, powerless, and homeless. It was clear in their mind that the only reason they survived was due to the
Darui’Torek escorts and the firm will of the people to survive. The people they left behind when they made the crossing either perished or were enslaved and that fact has never been far from the collective minds of this very special group of humans. Once the
Kemites discovered the solid well-founded force of the
Aelyrian Empire, they swore allegiance and founded
Zinn’Sunn in a beautiful river valley in the center of
Lauryl Province.
With the founding of the city, several groups emerged. With the lost feelings of the people, the
Sunn Monks rose to leadership in a newfound roll of spiritual pathway caretakers. Folks turned to them and they in turn looked to
Aslan. It was then that the
God spread his message of self-reliance and preservation. It was a message that hit home, and infused the newly formed
Zinn’Sunn citizenry with a surprising sense of purpose. Factions rose among the clans. The
Darui’Torek thrived.
SwordSingers and
BoneDrummers rose to prominence. The
Vermillion Guard was formed, requiring mandatory service for one year in order to get every male child trained in some sort of weapon and
zinn’ka.
The city has not been without its issues. Whenever the people stray from their purpose and allow the influence of the Imperial Outsiders to sway them from their chosen pathway, terrible things happen. In recent times a fire raged, destroying several sections of the city and killing the Lord
Thane. Gangs rose, fell, and Clans lost control of the people’s loyalty. Weapons were banned from the city. Women were given more rights, which in turn caused the same women to want even more freedoms. The whole situation was a dismal failure. Things soon fell back to the cultural standard, and everyone was allowed to take a deep breath and review their situation. Belief in the
Rasha'Shing, or essence rose in popularity, and there was a city and province wide movement towards ‘traditional’. So with the onset of the fire,
Zinn’Sunn ushered in a new era of cultural purity and a return to the ways of
Rasha'Shing and the teachings of
Aslan as a whole.
