Arisen from the overlapping tegula roof tiles of Rook's Row, the Bank of Lauryl has it's place in the historic creation not only of the beaming city but of the entire kingdom of Lauryl. The noble House of Lylles founded a series of guilds and corporations which in the Third Age functioned as moneylenders and currency protection. As the Alyssan Civitate took hold, it's ramifications streamlined the functionality of these businesses into a singular structure of monetary exchange or Bank. The legacy of this noble house has carried into the present, leaving one of it's longest lived buildings still standing at the shores of the River.
Chiselled with elegance and a refinement to match it's proprietors, The Bank of Lauryl is placed distinctly admidst the stone concourses, statues and leisure of the Easter Quarter. It's three story flat face weights and protects much of the money driven through the coffers of the city's merchants, noble families and common folk.
Any loan private or public must be cleared by the staple of this metropolis, a long standing Banker and Broker who's bloodline has profited new money and old alike. Geoffrey de Lylles is fastidious accountant and cultured man of reasoned ability. With a proactive hold on not only the vast resources of House Lylles but also the wealth of the very city it serves, this Bank is more then a place of business, it is the frontlines for brutal political warfare and the struggle of power.

As the Sapphire Guard had finally began settling down with the birth of a new season, so too did its financial stability. Thus far, every crown and voucher in their possession had been retained in the commander's tent, which while Riconus Xind'ell trusted his men, there was no reason to provide them the temptation. Aside from not wanting to keep his savings 'under the mattress', there was the oppurtunity of gaining oppurtunity from his trust with the Bank of Lauryl. Certainly, the idea of bargaining some sort of interest rate in exchange for entrusting to the bank their spectacular sum of money was the most conventional option... but Frigid River was a most unconventional city.
For their trip to the bank, no safety precaution was overlooked. Alongside Riconus and his two caravans, packed nearly to the brim with gold and voucher, was an escort of nearly 100 Sapphire Guardsmen, garbed in full battle kit. Perhaps it just simply drew unwanted attention to the caravan, but if such was the case, then so be it- there would be no chance letting his money come to threat.
Besides keeping his wealth in a safe place, there was another reason to enter the bank, for from what he had been told, the proprietor was an important figure in Frigid River... and above all, he was a De Lylles. So as Riconus entered through the Eastern Quarter, and finally made it within the halls of the Bank of Lauryl, Riconus wasted little time in requesting an audience with the manager.
"Serale," began Riconus, to the nearest bankcleark. "I was hoping to meet Geoffrey de Lylles, if he would be so kind. I would like to open an account within the bank... a very large, 6-figure account. His assisstance would mean the world, rest assured.
Oh, and my name? I am Lord Xind'ell, Earl of Portshire."

A calm, dry skinned man with prominent nose, a veneer of blue silk and a cautious epidermal smile stepped by his assistant with but an trite glimpse of the eye. His notched limerick would be held by a thin beard and thinning hairline as he blinked again raising reading glasses over the nose ridge with a care twice his age. The head manager seemed to repeat Riconus's words and request over to himself as if mentally adjusting for any forefront of challenge.
"Ah yes.. I see.. Lord Xind'ell .. Earl of Portshire. I recollect your title."
The man squinted over the General's shoulder, as if looking for an army.
"I see. Accompanied by the city guard and legion of soldiers. Most Mercs get turned away at the gate yet you seem to "sneak" in time after time. Must be the love for the city.. She simply cannot refuse a smile as broad as that. Ha. ha." His words were dry beyond dry.. simmering to the heights of mocking disdain.
"I am Geoffrey. You are it would seem . In Luck. After all. Ha. Ha. ha." Each "Ha" was punctuated individually with poignancy. "So then Master Xind'ell. You seek a bank account .. six figures you say. Not a problem at all. Not at all. For such a generous and trusting sum .. what say we raise the interest to 30 percent compounded Era to Era. What say we to That. hm....?
The contrite figure looked down as if barely interested in the scrolls and parchment beneath his palms... then rose to contact his opponent or guest like a sugarless grape wine. "I will keep it here in the vault. Safety and Trust. Both staple mottoes of the Family name .. "
He held out his elaborate plumed quill.. pressing his pruned finger along the pages of a contract.
"Read it over. Sign it Please. Thank-you."

OOC: Sorry if I bunnied my entrance into the area under such a heavy guard. Do you want me to edit my post?

Riconus took Geoffrey's hand for a shake should it be available before noting his troops, calling them through with a movement of his index finger, caravan in tow. "Most mercenaries lack connections, m'lord. Fortunately, my standing affords me relief from Sapphire Guardsmen 'sneaking' from anywhere." In reality, such associates had nothing to do with his visit, and niether Kaldres nor Ironfist had anything to do with blessing his arrival under such a strong contingent.
As Riconus ventured off with Geoffrey to address all the formalities of opening a bank account, his offer was entertained, but in truth, the Syl lord had other terms in mind. One could easily imagine that when it came to Earl Xind'ell, such interaction could hardly be as straight forward as opening an account, then simply leaving. Such revelations were soon discovered upon receiving Geoffrey's papers.
"Thank you, Lord Geoffrey, but perhaps you would permit me to counter with an offer of my own? For you see, although I seek some sort of return for my induction of 250,000 gold crowns into your holdings, I do so not for the sake of interest, nor any sort of financial gain.
In exchange, all I seek is... friendship."
Two cigars were withdrawn from the breast pocket of Riconus' rather large blazer of fine black wool, before he instructed one of his guardsmen to find a light; a torch, a candle, anything. It took a toke or two before his corona began to warm the blood, prompting the Syl to return to his offer. "Your family name certainly precedes you, Geoffey. It would certainly be considered a blessing of the gods to be a member of the De Lylles Dynasty... or, so it was once a Dynasty, before Royalists set about destroying the Aelyrian Empire your ancestors created." Perhaps it was bold, to be scorning the political attitudes of the realm with someone he had only just met. However, if any family would be somewhat agitated by the loss of utterly consummate power, one would have to imagine it would be the Lylles... no?
"All I ask for, in exchange for the quarter-million crowns I wish to entrust - held at zero interest - is your assistance in setting up a meeting or two with the De Lylles family members you know in Lauryl Province. I'm confidant that our two families could gain much through friendship.
... Or perhaps you are disinterested in my endeavours, in which case, I shall accept the thirty percent interest rate."
