[Location] The Trellis Inn

THE TRELLIS INN

DESCRIPTION:

The Trellis Inn can be found facing the capital road and built encircling the city crossroad's central promenade. It is a large stone establishment lined with a walled courtyard and smooth gated archway. Entering past rows of neatly cut granite is layered a gentle blanket of snow or vivid green garden clambering along four raised trellis to touch the roof. A wide range of scented flowers weave up it's banisters such as hydrangea, sweet pea, jasmine, and clematis. A stone bricked well stands firm to one side, complete with a shingled shelter and a sturdy awaiting bucket.

Upon entering the rounded red doorway, a plush lobby of polished mahogany and richly woven rugs offset handpainted fresco tiling. The concave half-moon expanse provides a bright glimpse of it's dining room towards the right, bordered by an open pillared wall that allows further viewing complimenting the lapping flames of a welcoming hearth. This firelight dances along the multiple square panes of a wide vista facing window at the western length of the locale. In the lobby, left of the central flight of stairs stands the establishment's front desk, complete with a welcoming female half-elf boasting a gently curved figure while clothed in white cotton bound by a simple corset and long crimson dress.

Each room contains wide thickly hewn window frames opening towards queen and king sized bedchambers. Bathing can be accomplished in the privacy of each suite or ajacent to the kitchen in the establisment's small shared spa.
The rooms are spacious and stocked with paintings, tasteful wall ornaments, cinnamon sticks and fresh towels. Dinner and Breakfast may be served in bed as well as publicly in the dining area while the Inn's two master suites contain personal fireplaces and soft fur rugs.

Jacques de Lamont is an upstanding Citizen
It had been too much to bear. The scent of grilling meats, the smoke rising from the chimney, the flowers... Well, not so much the flowers, but the promise of hot meat and a warm fire had charged Jacques with such force that he was forced into a door that, firs and foremost, looked far above his social status. The immaculate nature of the stones, the quaint feel and the decided lack of the sound of shattered glass and coarse, drunken voices yelling out in an unpleasant but satisfying symphony of rage, pain, and battle told him that he truly didn't belong there. But, again, the nose of a hungry man with too much money in his pocket representing potential food in his belly was far too strong to combat, and his feet pulled him through a door and into a world where things were too.... too... exactly. That.

Plush. Extravagant. Nice. Where were the roughly-hewn floors covered in sawdust to collect the urine and bile or drunken patrons? Where were the pieces of shattered wood from bar fights? Hand-painted tiles, woven rugs, mahogany... This was exactly not what he and his were supposed to spend their time in, consuming vast amounts of greasy meats. Others would quaff, Jacques would not, but if there was one thing he needed right now, it was a fight. That would set his mind straight, get him back to where he needed to be... All of what he was was gone, replaced with a need to rid himself of the fire in his belly.... which was currently a roaring beast of hunger.

Careful steps guided him toward the front desk, where there stood a welcoming half-elf girl... At least welcoming to others, and if she had any sense he would not be welcome. Slowly, carefully, he removed the furs from his face, revealing the dirty dracon underneath.

"I'd like a meal, please," Jacques said, his voice breaking through hoarsely. Two eras of silence hurts the throat.

Night. Hard Moon. The First of Cryxatum in the Season of Spring, Era XIV Post Fractum

As the storm slate Dracon removed his furs it was not difficult to catch the awaiting youth's eyes rise and fall in light surprise. These emotions were quickly smothered by the gentile appeal of a talented hostess.

"Right this way please."

Her words rang melodically and quiet to his inner senses as blonde hair was brushed behind a refined and elongated ear. The Elven Maiden chose for him a table still brushed by the moon's fair light but removed enough from the window to offer an ounce of privacy. The menu slipped to Jacques claw without discernible effort followed an observant yet polite smile.

"Take your time sir. The soup this darkening is a Hunter's Stew. A delicious slow cooked mutton soaked in a broth of spiced leeks, cabbage, rutabaga, carrots and Ginger."

A mulled wine was placed in a clay mug before Lamont without asking as his hostess's fingers calmly snapped a candle alight before leaving him in peace. Looking around there were several other customers dining in sparkling solace or the company of friends. A pair of elder humans reclined closest to the window finding comfort in white chardonnay, while behind him near the kitchen door sat an old trapper, bathed and bearded to feint stark civility. The fire crackled while a din of silver and glass shortened the space between stranger and friend.

Ragged, unkempt, and starving, genuinely starving. Hunter's stew? Just a single portion of the meal this dracon was set to demolish in a flurry of dirty, blunted claws, yellowed fangs, and an altogether unsavory air of a hermit wondering what all the fuss with manners is about. It had been quite some time since Jacques had read a menu, or anything at all for that matter, but he muscled through. You didn't read 152 patterns if you were an idiot. Red eyes scanned the words, wondering what would be best suited for a hunger of his magnitude, until they settled eventually on the steak. A smirk slid across his snout and salivation began.

"Ma'am, I would kill for a steak, extra rare, with broccoli and carrots, and some of that stew you mentioned. Also... Some coffee if you would be so kind. My night is far from done after this." He deftly handed back the menu and sat to wait for the meal. With the smells racing through the room at current, he was sure it would be far from disappointing.

The coffee came first, not chosen for the taste he abhorred, but for the energy it granted. After a short time to cool, he drank the black concoction eagerly, his evening already tooled out in his mind. I need to find a fight, he mused while he dirtied the drink with a filthy claw. Need to expel some rage... The waitress moved forward silently, placing a roll of crusty bread and his stew before him, steam rising from its core. With a smile and a nod to the woman, Jacques promptly dipped the roll in the mix, sucking up all of the available liquids. Then came a spoon, with which he extracted the now soaked bread, moving it slowly and steadily toward his mouth. Easy... easy... and with a flip, he tossed the entire roll into his eager, open jaws.

A flavor explosion is the best way he could describe it. Another chew and a spurt of juices flew out of his mouth and onto the table, leaving a long red stain. He grinned, and repeated the action with a little bit more maneuvering. The thing was a mash now, so he swallowed, staring down the solid contents of his bowl with evil intent flashing through his fiery eyes. Spoon? Pah! The cyraxians gave him and his claws for a reason!

Dirty claws flew, and bits of vegetable missed his mouth at times, but most got in, in between the grunts, chomps, and general sounds of contented ecstasy. The Hunter's Stew was gone before he knew it and Jacques was momentarily saddened by it's departure, but just that moment the steak appeared. It smelled right, lightly browned on the outside, with bubbling areas of fat, but... rare enough? Now was the moment of truth... He daintily picked up the meat, then took a large bite. Hot juices ran down his chin, coating his tongue with the flavor of hot, greasy blood. Perfect! He switched gears, using only one hand to hold the steak, while shoveling the carrots and broccoli in his mouth with the other. Again, bits of food flew in all directions falling on the table the floor, and sometimes nearly reaching the other patrons. Within three minutes, the entire plate was clean but for a patch of grease still laying in the depressed center. Jacques smiled as he grabbed his napkin and cleaned off his claws, snout, and hands. A lovely meal in a lovely setting... with a disgusting patron.

The money pouch opened, 20 crowns were extracted and placed on the table, and the dracon left toward the door, foot claws clicking on the tiled floor and making muffled thumps on the carpet. Tonight was going to be one wild ride if he could find a good spot. Again, he approached the counter up front with a smile plastered across his face and a claw picking between his fangs.

"Miss, would you be so kind as to tell me where I might find some less... savory fare than your lovely establishment?" The girl looked somewhat shocked and confused for a moment, but realization seemed to dawn on her.

"Umm... The western quarter of town? You mean the bad part right?" Jacques smiled and nodded, and with no other word turned and left.

Jade Alanon is a benevolent Adventurer
5th Brightening of Cryxatum, Season of Spring

Jade and Nymira had only just arrived in Frigid River and sought the closest Inn she could find so she could rest and relax a bit. Both sisters were exhausted from their constant traveling and neither were too thrilled on just why they had even come to Frigid River. Nymira had no desire to see the bastard Jerack, all she desired was to watch him die a slow and painful death, it would help Jade as well and yet Jade was denied the pleasure of ending his miserable existence yet again. Aganadara was denied the taste of his blood upon it's blades, the fire born of Jade's hatred and need for revenge burned within the hilt still.

Jade carried herself with confidence yet the exhaustion showed in her posture as she moved towards the lobby where the front desk resided. She didn't care what room she got, she didn't care where, she just wanted a room for her and Nymira to rest before she had to face Jerack in the dungeon. She held her staff tightly in hand as she approached the front desk, she didn't bother to smile at the half elf that sat waiting, she was too tired and worried about the brightening approaching. "I'll take a suite for two cycles please."

Looking up from the walnut booth and red fabric came a wry expression. Cadence smiled outwardly calm while looking the newcomer and wolf up and back down. Her two newest guests were quite the pair indeed.. Something beneath her cheekbones suddenly winced in memory.
"One Hundred Forty by pair for two cycles, but lowering it to One Twenty given your .. animal is housebroken M'lady."

Young miss Faine played with caution and a sway of polished reserve, uncertain to the feeling that plucked her heartstrings in danger. Sliding the ledger across the hostess almost stopped herself from attempting jest.

"Now if it consumes any of my other guests I'll have to double that amount."

Her response was polite and light, giving the firmament of a new breeze. "Good Night." The girl pointed to the polished stairs then to the dining lounge without overemphasizing the details. She gave Jade quiet lodgings at the rear of the second floor, overlooking the raised western plateau bending to the mountain's will.

Cryxatum 10th brightening

The Lord of Hartney Manor walked into the Tavern enjoying the atmosphere. He had always enjoyed. He paused in the enterance and brushed back his hair which had fallen into his eyes. It had been a little while since Ebram had some serious traveling, and this season appeared to be a time in which he would be doing just that.

His green eyes looked around as he waited for a someone to help him. Ebram had rarely been in any taverns. It wasn't right for a de Lylles, and they were expected to stay in the houses of their friends, and their relatives. De Lylles estates were found everwere, which wasn't suprising considering the size of the family. Ebram knew there was a family member here in the city, but he had wanted to stay at the Inn for one brightening. He felt stable enough in his life now to begin to make desisions like that.

He noticed the waitress and approached her. "Serale. I was hopeing to be able to rent a room, and obtain a meal."

Cadence Faine stood over the counter talking quietly to a young elven male who looked surprisingly alike with thin brown hair cut to ear line. Looking up both brother and sister acknowledged the arriving noble, but it was the Proprietor who spoke.

"Serale and warm welcome. A single occupancy room is seven for the darkening and fifty for the cycle.. Master Suite is six crowns more with full room service and unrivaled house wine."

She turned back to her counterpart with a faint whisper, letting him drawn away so as Ebramson could approach.

"Dinner is to your left next to the fire .. and we are all in for a treat this brightning sire. One of the extremely popular Minstrels from the Jester's Scepter has stopped in to join us on musical accompaniment. Should be a feast to remember."

Taking the appropriate weight of coin for fresh sheets and a little privacy, the blonde mistress led this blue blooded traveler into the dining lounge next to a paned windowsill. Passing him a menu she smiled curtly and noted a fresh catch of rainbow trout that was being fried on the pan as they spoke. De Lylles was free to order and drink as merrily as he saw fit.

He listened and though for a moment. "A regular room for the darkening will be all that I am requiring." He said following her into the room and taking a seat that was offered to him. "I would like the trout with a cup of tea please." the youth said after looking over the menu. "I look forward to the show as well. It has been a long time since I last saw a minstrel perform."

Atlus Wunderhof is unknown and forgotten
38th of Cryxatum, Era I, XV PF

Inns were always something Atlus found as a cute way of making a Giant feel less at home. Few were ever big enough for him to actually get IN to. The giant referred to the as Outs if any one asked him...

His walk down the main thoroughfare didn't make much of a spectacle luckily. It was getting dark, so not many people were out and about. He did, however, get an average number of stares and fleeing children.

"Feth," he thought to him self as he had made an old Human female nearly faint as he passed her in the cold, Hope theres no trouble here.

Being on the side of the road and convenient to the knowledge that he had of the city (being none) Atlus decided this was as good of a place as any to not get lost at. He bent over and gave The Trellis Inn door a good knocking, hoping he would get an answer of course.

"No need to be alarmed." He said in his deep and slow method. "Hope you have a stable in the back that is warm." He said chuckling to him self out of dimwitted humor and exhaustion.

Atlus hoped he wouldn't startle whom ever answered the door. The young giant hadn't seen much of any one that was taller than his waist line, him being a little over 14ft. From the looks of it there might be no way of him pushing his large frame inside the building without causing damage. (Something he has done several times)

Smiling to herself Cadence braced for that knock long before it's bearing. The subtleties of a giant were without a doubt still subtle enough, but the gods didn't give her slanted ears for nothing. Opening the door succinctly the blonde owner greeted Atlus with a warm wave of the hand.

"Serale Stranger, don't stay distant for long. My name is Cadence Faine and I do in fact have a very comfy room .. It's warm and could suit the uniqueness of a traveler such as yourself. The entrance is separate and backs onto the old stables I've converted into a cellar so as your frame should fit without even a light bend of the knee." She gestured with a single pale arm, wrapping large furs around both shoulders. "Right this way."

Wunderhof found himself in an refurbished barn with double doors painted bright red that connected to the cobblestone of the building's rear courtyard.
It was better than quaint with a bed to support both his weight, stature and even a place that would suit his belongings. Looking out the fogged window the giant then noticed the roots of creeping ivy just starting to bud.

His hostess had left him alone with no mention of price, but placed a pitcher of hot cider and a menu of the daily cuisine on the desk. It had been a small surprise to find such an abode, but let it be known there was always a place for worthy adventurers, no matter what the size or appearance.

To say the least Atlus was a bit flabbergasted by his hostess' hospitality and kindness. The fact there was an abode suited for giants was an actual shock...

When the door opened Atlus stood back far enough to let Cadence outside.

"Serale." He said in retort to the familiar greeting. "I hope to not be a burden on you. My name is Atlus of the Wunderhof clan." The young giant explained as he followed the female Inn keeper.

As the barn doors opened he explained out loud "This is something."The statement was meant more for himself but Atlus was sure she had heard it from other Giants in the past.

The bag of tools and what few supplies he had left were left near the door with an odd jingle and clunk. He circled the room surprised at how well it was suited for his kind. Atlus had spent nearly two eras helping the city of Paxia rebuild without suitable housing for himself. Not to mention the last couple of cycles spent on the road going from Paxia to Acronis, from Acronis to here. He rubbed his weary eyes and turned to Cadence before she left him. "Thank you." He simply said before sitting down on the side of the sturdy bed.

When she left the Giant let out a hulking sigh and stretched his aching limbs. He reached over and grabbed the pitcher of cider that fit neatly into his large hand like a small mug.

"Already being treated better here than a city I held on my back" Groaned the professional builder of buildings to himself.

Slumping back into bed Atlus finished off the hot and sweet liquid and drifted slowly to sleep. No telling when or how he would wake, if he did.

39th Cryxatum, Mid Morning

It was the first time Atlus got a good 12 candlemarks of sleep in eras it seemed...

"Must have been something in the drink." He thought to himself. He awoke with a grand stretching of limbs. His body popped and cracked as he childishly rolled around in the bed. Even at home in Naktell his bedding was never this soft and comfortable. The giant sat up still fully clothed and rubbed his gurgling belly. He knew he had plenty of crown to fill himself for at least a couple of cycles but the question was would his host have the food or the patience to keep such a large guest for so long.

Atlus hopped to his feet causing the wooden floor beneath him to bow just a bit under his massive weight. Atlus scooped up the small menu in his large right hand and adjusted his still blurry vision to its small text.

"H-haaam" Atlus mouthed out loud to himself still struggling to read the text. The giant could read nearly perfectly, he was only used to it being written much larger. He scratched the top of his head with his left hand still adjusting his vision.

"L-local Hero Ham, and po-ta-toes." Atlus shrugged. "Good enough for me." He thought.

The young Giant pushed open the big barn doors and made his way back to the front of the Inn. Once again he crouched down and as gently as he could muster pounded beside the Inn's entrance menu still in hand.

Atlus had only flickers to wait for refreshment yet the pork took slightly longer. Cadence had provisions in mind for such an occasion .. such as a hungry Giant, and an entire sow had been slaughtered then prepared in a broth of cut apples and cinnamon with an equally formidable side of rice and local vegetables. The front wall that beckoned onto the city's colorful and whirling promenade seemed able to hold his weight yet there was a brilliant courtyard in the rear that would support both the appetite and firmament of a eager and hungry titan.

Atlus happily took his meal at the front of the Inn. There was no need for him to delay such a feast any longer. His meal was long over due by at least two brightening..

Atlus simply leaned up against the Inns front wall, out of the way of the entrance, and spread his elongated legs in a v shape in anticipation of his meal.

A brew had crossed his mind when the giant was scanning the menu. Honey mead. Sounds good. He thought trying to imagine the taste of such a brew.

As his food was brought out to him in portions and pitchers Atlus was sure to clean every dish of any drop or morsel it withheld. Although Atlus did intake his future digestion rather quickly he was sure to mind his manners and belching of course. The flavor was fantastic and the texture was tantalizing, it was as good asvmoms. Maybe better. As Atlus slowly finished his meals he was sure to clean off his hands and fingers by licking and sucking off all of the juices and meaty left overs.

Atlus slumped back against the wall, eyes closed, with the remnants of his feast in front of him. As his food gurgled and churned inside his belly Atlus slowly slipped into a light sleep.
