The Offices of the Advisor to the Governor

With most of the cabinent disappeared or departed since the early spring, Andavariel had established her official offices in a spacious room near the centre of town. True to character, she hadn't bothered too much with the details of getting it, doing her best to charm Mr. Ironstone into securing her an empty room, and suitable furniture. Her position probably entitled her to the Governmental rooms in Mystique, but Andavariel was NOT going anywhere in a hurry.

The entry was a bit pokey, despite it being one of the granite buildings and not the older wooden ones. Anyone taller than 5' would be ducking their head to get through, and the Lady Advisor, as she was referred when people were being polite, had developed a disinct bruise above one eyebrow at one point.

The door to the building lead into a hall which contained a wall covered with paper notices, advertisments, and Council Minutes on the left, and a very uncomfortable wooden bench on the right. It could have been a pew from a church, for its rabidly uncomfortable appearance. Andavariel had decided on it, mainly on the principle that anyone who was able to endure more than 20 minutes of it must have something important to say. It certainly cut down on the complainers. The walls were whitewashed, and unadorned apart from the notice board.

At the end of the corridor was another door designed for the extremely short. Solidly wooden, with ornate brass fittings, it was the door of a previous owner who had wanted to impress. Only it wasn't impressive at all, just gaudy.

After about 5 minutes of waiting, the mildly harassed looking face of the Lady Advisor herself would appear round the door, to see if anyone was waiting to see her.

OOC: Current time stamp is anytime onwards from Cryxatum era XI. This thread is open to ALL, just post as if Anda's head has come round the door to see if anyone is waiting.

That she had no clue as to who Kira was obviously didn’t bother Willow in the least. Truth be told it didn’t really bother her too much as she followed in the wake of the faerie boy who seemed destined to never really grow up.

Frigid River from her vantage point was interesting; not as good as the Dolwoods or Kel’rondar; both places of great beauty in her mind, but it was interesting. The building didn’t look overly big but it was much bigger than she at eight inches. Entering behind Willow she looked around with curiosity wondering where the one he called Kira might be. The general appearance of the place was not one that was intended to make a person get too comfortable.

Turning from her examination of the inside of the building she looked at the little faerie boy

”It would seem that everyone has left for the brightening Willow….

Are you sure that Kira should be here?”
she asked, her voice tinkling around the room.

Rose Timestamp: First Month of Summer within Era XI of the Darkening.

Frowning ever so slightly as he inspected the office, it took a while and much glancing about down the streets just to make sure that the Faerie Boy indeed had his bearings right. Nodding vigourously before his mouth split into a grin that threatened jaw dislocation - something Willow managed with a startling ease - and cried a "Yup! This is the place that you want to go if you want to meet someone who's a friendly person and hasn't done anything too bad like tried to gobble me all up like the Mister Darksoul gimp." Willow had some bad experiences with that particular Shadow Knight.

He'd lost his head, literally, and as such Willow felt a rather strong grudge and an inclination to bite off Avanthar's head and gobble it all up in return. The biggest problem though the Faerie was having with this particular plan was that he didn't think he could do much as gnaw on Darksouls nose let alone his entire head. One problem at a time.

"Though, she mightn't be in here 'cause when we met Miss Kira she was in schola and being a good person and stuff... but now she's bigger and stuff like when we met that funny girl in the Pegasi Woods." Willow mused, pausing for a few seconds as he worked it all out in his head. "Cause, when I turned the funny lady into a tree and then you turned her into a Centaur... I think Kira's just a lil' girl pretending to be a big Elfy Humanie or else she was a big Elfy Humanie pretending to be a lil' girl. You'll have to ask though cause she nevvar explained and is'na proper to ask details whether you're big or lil'"

It was near the end of the Brightening. She had dampened the fire and the light in her office was low. She didn't always need that much light, but she preferred to use it. It kept up good mortal habits to do so, and didn't lead to uncomfortable explanations to curious people about why she was writing and reading in the dark. She was just about to neaten her stack of parchment and head out to fill her stomach at the Trellis Inn when she heard voices out in the corridor. She sighed inwardly, and was about to ask them to go away when the nature of the voices intruded into her understanding.

Fae voices.

"...and is'na proper to ask details whether you're big or lil'"

Feth. It's that Willow. And there's no way out of this office. I don't think going through the window would be a good idea. She had no idea who the other voice was, but the thought of face Willow after a hard day in the Office was enough to make her ponder the possibilities of turning into a rat and climbing out through the chimney. Except that would probably be painful, considering that the fire hadnt gone out quite yet.

She gave in to the inevitable and stuck her head round the door to see who was there. She did look around a bit, knowing there wasn't going to be a human sized figure there, and she peered at the fae pair. She was very definitely an 'elfy humanie' at that moment, and not a slightly built one either. Warm amber eyes, and a face that was ageless topped a plump, simply dressed body.

"Serale, I guess you two would like to come in to the Office?"

She didn't bother to introduce herself to the pair. She was more intent on discussing things with these two in private. Standing around in that austere passageway was not her favourite waste of time. The office itself was homely, and a little more spacious than one might have expected. The fire was low, and gave off a dim glow in the evening light. A couple of candles were placed around the room, but it was a low and ambient light.

She shut the door behind the fae.

"Hello Willow. What brings you and your beautiful friend around to my humble abode?

Teron is an upstanding Citizen
He hadn't been to Frigid River for nearly half a decade, but fate drew him back, of course. On his way into the town, one drawn breath brought back memories that had previously been locked in the past. It was a place where he had made his residence for years, and where he had ruled the Sacred Circle as Head Justicar with his friend, then Thane and Guildmaster Zalikanya the elf. It was also where the Flaming Fist smithy, his former business, had stood. On his way into the city, Teron had noticed the building still standing, though it was in highly dilapidated shape. The neighborhood around it was still different, and the shanty state of it made the big man chuckle. The windows were boarded up, but it was still Teron's in deed. He had spent every night on the way to Frigid River studying the deed to make sure he still owned the rights to the building and land, and despite his lack of knowledge of the law, he did as far as he knew.

However, he knew he would have to check with Frigid River's new management on running a business in town, and he assumed that the office reading "Advisor to the Governor" was the place to start, with the central location. He needed validation on the deed... and had a proposal to make. He needed capital to renovate the smithy and buy the metal necessary to begin making the designer arms and armor he had once been Empire-famous for.

Being tall for a human, he had to duck extra low to get in the low door. Teron wondered why anyone would have their doors built that small, and he suspected that the advisor was a fae or elf of some sort. After a short period of waiting, Teron was called in, and he immediately layed down the deed to the smithy upon the advisor's desk.

"I'm Teron, former proprietor of the Flaming Fist smithy from when Zalikanya was Thane. I haven't been in the Empire in years, but I have come back and wish to reclaim my business. Additionally, I was wondering if the town treasury could provide a grant to help me restart the smithy. I promise that this money will be payed back many times over in any way I can help the governor and thane."

Though something struck him as slightly odd about the advisor, it was more the fact that the Cyraxian within him seemed... nervous. And Azakiel was never nervous. Teron must have been imagining things.

Sharinya smiled as Willow gave his explanation; she didn’t have the heart to tell him that she wasn’t making much sense of his conversation. Anyway it wasn’t really an issue with the little Queen because she knew that sooner or later everything would fall into place and make sense.

The sound of someone speaking had Sharinya’s head spinning around to see just who it was that had spoken. Sharinya was surprised to see an elf of such generous proportions but it was the eye’s that really caught her attention; such a pretty color..

”Serale, please forgive our interruption, Willow insisted on me meeting his friend here and seemed to think that it wouldn’t be too much of an intrusion.” she said, a little note of apology to her words.

”Have we come at a bad time?

Perhaps I should introduce myself…”
she said fluttering a little closer to the elfy humanie woman.

”I’m Sharinya, High Queen of the Fae…” she said with a smile.

Sharinya was rarely so formal but something told her that perhaps she should be more open about who she was. It wasn’t that she had expectations that people would view her any differently but more they seemed put out when they didn’t realize.

Either way she was the Faerie Queen and the sooner she got used to all that went with being the Queen the better. Even more so if she was going to ask these people for help.

Sharinya
Willow always bewildered her somewhat, and she froze for a moment as Willow's friend announced herself. Ever so casually announced herself as Fae royalty. She didn't know whether to be stunned and shocked, or panic because there was a royal dignitary in the city and nothing was being done to welcome her.

Training, or instinct perhaps, reasserted itself, and she merely froze for a moment while her mind processed various possibilities.

"Uh, Welcome to Frigid River, you Majesty."Obviously Andavariel's manners weren't up to scratch, but it already seemed as if this was to be an informal visitation. No pomp, no glitz and glamour. She busied herself with relighting a couple of candles to add a little to the light.

"I am known in some circles around here as Andavariel, although I'm guessing Willow still has other names for me." She joked with her guests, and gestured to the carafe of red wine that was half full. "Would you care for any refreshment, or have you come to talk business with me" She continued, her voice warm an unassuming. No matter her outward manner, the dragon was afire with curiousity. She did not often converse with Willow, and she could remember ever speaking with fae royalty in all her many long lives.

Pirvan Kaldres is an upstanding Citizen
Hustling from his office Pirvan ran to Anda's office. It was not far, but in such a haste he was he almost lost his head as he skidded backwards falling on his arse attempting to duck into the entrance of the building. Getting up slowly he looked at the small entry and sighed.

Dusting himself off, he hastened down the hall and instead of going to take a seat like most people would when coming to she the Lady Advisor he headed straight for the door and again skidded backwards this time catching himself as he almost knocked off Anda's head.

"Geez, some welcome back." Fixing himself and standing straight he smiled. "How are things?" He said after he had fixed himself to a point where he seemed presentable.

Feeling his upper pockets he released a small sigh of relief as he felt the scroll case still in his jacket.

Rose Sharinya & Andavariel

It really was a safe bet that when it came to anything resembling politics, business, or normal brightening to brightening life Willow de Wisp had little to no interest in it. Not when there was adventure, excitement, suger and other enjoyable things to play with and that frankly meant hanging about Sharinya until she decided to go back to Kel'rondar so he could hunt down one of the Dragons with the suger-tasting-booger that he and Bink had raided from the unfortunate Emerald Dragon. Faeries weren't all like this of course, there was... sane ones about as Sharinya proved, but they really didn't end up finding themselves near the childish Fae Willow's company. He really did miss Bink, it was so nice having a companion in misch...trou... fun.

Every way, this, until something interestng happened was bound to be boring. Which meant occupying time as only Willow could - by hunting down Dalla, Garyl and Cally and then seeing what could be done until Sharinya and Miss Anda were more interested in acting like they enjoyed life rather than being stuffy and well... Adult-like. A condition Willow didn't believe in and thought it more something people did because they lacked imagination than anything worthwhile. "Umm... got any honey-mead Miss... or suger... or, can I bwing another friend about Miss Anda, can I?" Willow queried innocently, already eying the space behind Anda as if pondering making a dash inside just to see what interesting stuff he could find.

Sharinya grinned as the woman who looked like an elf introduced herself. Sharinya was getting used to people being surprised by her unexpected arrivals that she felt that it was for her to take matters in hand and put the woman at ease.

”Serale Andavariel, I am most pleased to make your acquaintance and yes Willow does have another name for you but let’s not go there. You can call me Sharinya if you like.” she said with a warm smile.

”This is my first visit to Frigid River and in all truthfulness I was just stopping by to visit with Willow after leaving the Empress in Midpoint.” there was no need at this point in time telling her that she was really here to see what was going on in the province and to continue raising her army to march on Alleria Prime.

The sound of Willow being his usual self-made her laugh, a soft tinkling sound that echoed around the room. She felt a little sorry for the almost but not quite elf woman, but then if Willow thought of her as a friend she was used to his ways and a drink would be something to take away the dust that felt it should coat her throat after all the flying she had done from Midpoint.

Willow & Sharinya

The not-quite-an-elf-woman fixed Willow with a gaze that would have spoken volumes and volumes about the limits of her patience, how irritating fae could occasionally have been, and bewilderment at being treated as a friend. Would have spoken volumes, that is; if only Willow ever actually listened to Andavariel. Anda was not inclined to think that he did, and wasn't about to waste energy on trying. Her expression changed smoothly to one of welcome and encouragement, and she nodded gently.

"You're certainly welcome to look. I rarely delve into it, although one of Grent's people assured me that it was well stocked." Even while she said this, her eyes flickered back to the High Queen, a sudden nervousness touching at Andavariel's dark core as she considered the diminuative royal personage that stood before her.

"Leaving the Empress? Ah, I hope to go there myself soon enough. Just a short trip though. The Empress is a busy woman, I hear, and I doubt she would have much time for a provincial woman such as me." She joked, her wonderful voice taking on a slight teasing tone as she settled herself back into her desk chair. Her eyes definitely remained steady on the High Queen this time, her expression thoughtful, watchful. Whatever she hoped to perceive, she did not say and merely continued in her slightly joking manner.

"And wither are you going, High Queen Sharinya, that tears you away from someone who assuredly need your support right now?"

Pirvan

The as ever elegant Half-Elven gave him a blank, non-comprehending stare for a moment. The armful of scrolls she had held were now sprawled across the floor of her humble office, and it took her a moment to get her mind up to speed with events. So, the wandering minstrel has return'd? She opened her mouth to reply, took one look at his rather rumpled appearance, struggled to contain a giggle and failed, all in very quick succession.

"Do you often come bursting in to the private rooms of women, my Lord, or are you just making an exception for me?" She replied, by way of an answer, and then grasped his arm with one hand and conducted him to her comfy chair; the rather old one that stood by the ever low but ever lit crackling fire. "Things here are.... as ever. Your Mr Marsilia is simply superb at getting up my nose, Vylle gets offended by a dracon at an impromptu meet, and I get a communication from the Empress. Much of a muchness really."

She practically threw away that last remark, almost over her shoulder at him as she gathered got herself a glass of wine, and proffered him a glass too.

Sharinya looked at the woman as she settled back into her seat, her manner teasing as if she had more that was being left unsaid… or perhaps that she did not want Sharinya to know.

”The Empress has time for all her subjects, not just those who sit in high places; I am sure she would welcome you and any news that you could bring her of the province. As for myself and as to why I have not stayed with the Empress that is simple I have business to conduct with our young friend Willow…

We once started on a mission that wavered for one reason or another and now it is imperative that we finish it.”
she paused looking at the woman more closely. There was definitely something not quite right but still she could not put her finger upon it.

” I have come to raise an army to march with the Empress…

The Treants have pledged their support, as have the Centaurs and dragons, there are those of the Fae kind who are also to march with us. Now there is just the Fauns left to convince…”
she let her voice trail off giving the not quite an elf time to digest her words.

Andavariel is an upstanding Citizen
At a loss at how to reply to this astonishingly trusting piece of news, Andavariel did the cliched thing and raised one eyebrow. She was inwardly surprised at the way Sharinya had worded her announcement...the dragons have pledged support? She knew of very few dragons who would act as a group. The very philosophy of dragonic life was the freedom of the individual, as long as they interfere with the business of no other dragon. Plus they had a basically contrary nature that had in the past prevented them from getting organised.

This High Queen seemed sure of their support though. She wondered, as did the dark, sardonic centre within her, which dragon had pledged the support of dragons plural. Was it a Youngster? And upstart Lesser with pretentions of grandeur? Possibly. It wasn't like the bronze dragon could claim to know the minds of her kin any more, for the parting had been so long and so complete until she met Lord Heron that occasionally her awareness of herself drifted, and she forgot.

While she pondered this news and the implications of it, the intent study of the youthful fae did not catch her notice. Her preoccupation may have had an affect upon her appearance, for those amber eyes grew more metallic, and the form of the shapely half-elf wavered ever so slightly. It was quick, and easy to miss - a ghosting around the edge of her form, the face grew vague and inhuman in form. A blink and you'll miss it moment, to be sure; for even as the ghosting of her form began it was over, and she was solid, whole, and still the same half-elf. She didn't even appear to notice anything had occured.

"It makes me wish I could pledge such support, or that my pledge would be of any use. I fear I have too much of a personal agenda to fulfill before I could aid her majesty in the manner of Treants and Dragons. As for fauns and satyrs; I am sure Willow will be of more aid than I."

She paused, that arched eyebrow finally returning to its proper place.

"If there is something you need, or would like to know, I shall try my best to aide you."

It was strange to say the least and perhaps it would be best not to mention it but the elf woman before her seemed for the blink of an eye to be something other than she appeared to be. Perhaps if Sharinya had put her mind to it she would have come up with a possible answer but for now it seemed unimportant. Sharinya listened to her words not doubting for a moment her sincerity.

”Lady Andavariel your being here to talk to his a bigger help than you will know. One does not always have to been seen to do something to be helpful.

Willow seems to have a way with others that is to say the least unique. That is if you discount flying up a dragons nose.”
she stopped herself from saying more, sure that the Lady did not want to hear about sugar sweet dragon “boogers”.
