The Eretria Rotunda ~ The Office of The Imperial Sage

Set in a quiet corner in close proximity to the palace lies a rather elegant building stylized with an enormous rotunda that gets its name from the rich Eretria Marble its formed of. This rich red marble is veined with white and black striations that come from a very exclusive mine deep in the heart of the Fire Isles. The Eretria Rotunda is a two story structure that consists of a large elegant greeting foyer on the ground floor. The center is decorated with a fountain filled with colorful koi overseen by a statue of Orod holding aloft both a book and a scroll. A long spiraling staircase thats split into two pathways stretches upwards to the second floor on either side of a double doorway that leads to what can really be deemed as the Imperial Forums Library. Different than the Imperial Archives, this library is a collection of published works from scholars far and wide. It is housed in an extensive ground floor building that has been added onto the Eretria Rotunda over the years. The collection is by and large the brainchild of the Imperial Sage's assistant, Kynaxa Rosetiva. Kynaxa is a young shadow elf from a prominent family of Ethgan'tor who was sent to Aelyria Prime at a young age to pursue scholarly devotions. She rose in rank until she caught the notice of the Imperial Sage a few Sage's ago and was hired on to manage the royal family's personal library. At that point she was promoted by The Imperial Sage and asked to manage and expand his own collection, and while she was happy to do so, her real forte manifested in teaching and managing teaching programs throughout Aelyria. Quietly being The Imperial Sage's adviser and muse, Kynaxa has stayed on in Aelyria Prime and really enjoys her work. She's subsequently survived multiple generations of Sage's, working quietly behind the scenes to keep schola programs updated and good quality schola teachers on the Imperial Bank rolls.

The second story of the Rotunda holds all the primary and secondary offices associated with the Imperial Sage and their staff, including personal records of the students they are in charge of, plus director offices for the schola programs Empire wide.

Now, with the current Imperial Sage having gone missing yet again (Kynaxa has had very little contact with him in recent times), The quiet Esh librarian is keeping the Imperial Sage's offices running until the Regent can appoint a new Sage or discover the whereabouts of the current one.

The Fifth Brightening of Kalendryas in the Winter of Era XV

The missive from the Imperial Palace arrived in the hands of a young courier, a half elven girl both diminutive and delicate in frame. Hers was a pretty heart shaped face and her ears gently tipped and her platinum blonde hair swept back into a neat braid. In spite of a quiet and soft spoken demeanor, the young woman was every bit of her gracefully efficient and professional in manner. Having requested a personal audience with Mistress Heatherbloom, she directly handed over two narrow leather tubes embossed with the Imperial insignia before departing again with the cether’s blessing.

The first of the leather tubes contained a letter, the second when opened would reveal a newly created writ to office. Both documents penned on fine parchment and rolled neatly, each bound with a wide band of black velvet, then both finished off at their seams with a puddle of scarlet wax stamped with the Imperial seal. The second of those, a writ to office, was a somewhat more ornate affair than its companion, the edges of the document edged in raised gold filigree and the Imperial seal in faded relief in the document’s center.

In hopes this missive finds you in good health and high spirits, I bid you good brightening from the Imperial Palace. In these times as in all, the Advisory of the Imperial High Sage is one which does and must always perform a vital role in addressing the Empire’s educational and cultural needs. It has long been and remains my firm belief that a society which focuses on the enhanced educational needs of all of its citizenry is a stronger and more prosperous one. Word has come to me of your tireless and learned dedication to the Advisory and its mandated task these eras past in the service of several consecutive Advisors and for this I wish to offer my gratitude, both personal, and on behalf of the Imperial Government.

I have come to the conclusion that due to the current pressing needs of the Empire’s Shola programs and what strikes me as a deficit in the numbers of qualified instructors, that more focus must be directed towards those facets as laid out in the mandate of the Imperial High Sage. While I continue to have the highest regard for our esteemed lord Z’kron both personally and professionally, and am grateful for those endeavors which have impacted the Empire’s citizenry in a positive way, I am compelled to conclude that in the continued absence of consistent communications, a qualified individual must be raised to the high office of Sage with its attending powers who can and will focus their attention exclusively on the Advisory’s mandate as it relates to education.

Therefore lady Rosevita, should you accept then it is my pleasure to inform you that as of this brightening, by my own hand and will I would raise you to the position of Imperial High Sage.

You will find enclosed a writ to office dated this fifth brightening of Kalendryas in the Winter of Era XV, naming you henceforth Her Imperial Excellency, Kynaxa Rosevita, the lady Imperial High Sage, and granting you in your new role the designation of Minister Emeritus. May I personally offer you my congratulations on an appointment well deserved, and further indicate my desire in the coming cycles to meet personally with you in your own offices so that we might become better acquainted, a discussion that I very much look forward to.

I am sending forth this missive to great you and welcome you as a member of the court. I am pleased to see the position of High Sage filled as the positions interest in teaching the young affects my feild as the Imperial Magus, for part of my concern is the teaching of the young in the feild of the arcane across the empire and regulating the teaching of arcane.

Excellencies,

Please be advised that as of the fifth brightening of Aperitus and throughout the following two cycles, I and my family will be residing outside of Aelyria Prime. Rest assured that I will be remaining in constant contact with my offices in the Royal Palace and will be maintaining consistent oversight of all concerns courtesy the efforts of Mr. Barrett Tierney, Senior Adjutant, and Mr. Manyc Ulairi, Sorcerer in service. I will further be making myself immediately available courtesy these two gentlemen should critical matters arise that require my personal attention or an audience with any given official.

All matters of an immediate or critical nature in addition to regular requests, updates and reports should be referred first to Mr. Tierney who shall advise me and arrange an immediate audience or response where applicable. All other matters arriving in my offices via correspondence, if requiring my personal attention shall be referred to myself, while all other matters shall be forwarded to the offices to whose realms they best apply in anticipation of a prompt official response.
