[Bureau Office] Long time no see (Janis)

[Atl Myrsa]

The Offices of the Lord Imperial Magus could be found on the top floor of the Arcane Bureau. The stairs lead to a solid oak door that was rather plain except for a circle in the middle that was divided into seven sections each showing a symbol of a different sphere of arcane. The only other future of the room was a man standing outside of the door. He appeared to be youngish in his twenties and human. The man was dressed in red and black with the crest of the Imperial Magus on his breast. Underneath his surecoat was a set of armor and a blade at his other side. The Guards was the physical defense and the a field against spell casting was the primary arcane defense.

The room beyond was a large and comfortable. The primary feature of the room was a large desk. Made of solid oak there were strange images carved along the sides that from the door were hard to see. The light in the room seemed to mostly be drawn there. The desk itself was clean except for a couple folders that were placed into a pile right next to were the occupant worked.

Behind the desk was a large window that took up the whole of the wall. Images showing the last battle of Diana seemed to dance across the glass. Placed in the center of the large window was a map of the Empire with markings for all of the cities and mountians and major rivers of the Empire.

Two more desks occupied the room. Located next to the door. Situated so that the occupents could look at the main desk these two were also carved from rich oak. One was completely clean and another was covered in folders and papers.

One of the remaining walls was completely covered in book selves. They seemed to be almost groaning from the weight of all of the books. Most were normal sized that one would expect to find any were else. A few were small things, and some were so large children could be squashed by them.

The last wall held a fire place that was currently ablaze giving off light and warmth in the cold winter. Four chairs were positioned around the fire each with a little end table between them. They were richly embroidered with geometric patterns on them. One last table sat next to the fire place with a pot of tea, glasses, and a couple bodels sitting on it.

The page lean Janis to the door and paused to knock before a voice spoke. Opening the door the young man motioned for Janis to enter the room. Currently the room had three occupants. The Imperial Magus, Atl Myrsa was sitting at a desk placing some papers into folders and gentle putting them away. The remaining two were at smaller desk and unlike their boss were still looking through papers. One of them, a human, looked at the visator then looked back down. The halfling seemed to have missed the presences of the stranger.

Atl smiled at his newst arrival. "Please join me by the fire place." He indicated to the fire place as he finished putting away papers. The nimalni stood up and walked over towards the chair. "Would you like some tea or wine?"

Following the page, Janis was led eventually to the office containing Atl. These were some fantastic settings. The empire sure knew how to treat their officials. He couldn't say he was suprised. From the outside he couldn't have expected much else. He saw the two workers and acknowledged the human who had looked up. When he saw Atl with a smile on his face Janis could not help but smile as well. Nothing in this land like being greeted by a friendly smile. He immediately began to feel comfortable.

Janis accepted the invitation and made his way over to the chairs beside his host. "Atl, smashing to see you." He held out his hand hoping to recieve a shake in return. "Some tea would be great, thank you."

Janis then took his seat beside the fire. He felt comfortable. He knew Atl to be a fellow druid. It was good that he was the new Imperial Magus. People who thought along the lines of a Druid would make excellent officials. He turned and started up the conversation. "Hope I'm not interrupting any work or anything. Just arrived in Prime and as I've heard, you're around these parts as well. Seems you've taken right good care of yourself since last I saw ya. What have you been up to lately? Imperial Magus is one helluva job." Said Janis with a smile.

Atl took Janis hand slightly amused at the human form of greeting. That was one consistances among elves. Atl though respected that and after shaking his hand poured them both some tea. Handing over cup and its plate Atl sat down at his own seat and turned his attention towards his guest.

Atl chuckled a little at the first statement. "It is alright Janis. Meeting with other mages is part of my job, not to mention it is a full time position and my attention may be needed at any time." Atl half smiled. "I have been doing well. The previous Imperial Magus tried to run everything with only a secratary to help. I have been forced to revamp the entire Bureau which has caused some interesting chalanges."

Janis sat and accepted his tea. He blew a little bit into the cup to relieve it of a bit of it's heat. A sip proved this effort to be futile as it still managed to slightly burn the roof of his mouth.

"Just a secretary you say! Well, I've heard the past Magus was quite a man. But I'm sure you're more then up to the task Atl. I saw you popping up in the Herald recently what with the state of Arcana in the empire and all. Great idea if ya ask me. But of course ya didn't." Said Janis playfully.

"I'd love to hear more about what ya been up to and doin around here and all. I'm sure it's all right and good. Must be pretty exciting around here, especially with your job and all. Hell, you're probably good buddies with the Regent himself. What about Prime in all it's glory? It's been some time since I've been around these parts. Anything interesting or of note takin' place?"

It was true. A lot had gone on in Prime since he walked out it's gates many cycles ago. Forcefields and ancients and this and that. If something the piqued his interest was mentioned he would be sure to take note. It was good to keep yourself occupied.

Atl chuckled as his fellow druid commented on the excitment. "Actually I know the regent well enough, but neither of us actually have that much time on our hands. About the only thing is that I am higher on the list of people who get to see His Excellency." Atl sipped some more before tea before noticing his tea cup was empty. Standing up he walked over to the table and pour the tea once again.

Returning to the seat. "I lived in Prime once era's ago." Atl paused and though back to that time. It had been so long ago, and so much had happened since then. The Patchwork Refugee had briefly shined and then faded forever. Atl was the last of the group left. "I didn't like it then and it hasn't grown on me much since I came back. The cost of living here is hug, and the city is well busy. Finding time to be one with nature each day tends to be a choir." He said with a shake of his head. "Luckly I was able to find a house in the wilds around the city at a nice little estate." Atl smiled foundly thinking of his newsest home. It wasn't Mystique, but Atl was a druid and so he was able to adjust to different wilds.

Atl did smile though. "That not to say all of Prime is bad. I do enjoy my job. It combines my two favor things. Politics and arcane." Atl looked at his friend. "So what about you? What are some of your goals?"

Still working on his first cup of tea, Janis listened to the Nimalni. So he too had left Prime only to return to the sprawling metropolis in what can only be assumed quite a different position then before.

"It is interesting that you say that Atl. It was that very lack of anything natural that drove me away from Prime to begin with. I couldn't get used to and as soon as I could I left it. This was even before I was able to open myself up to the arcane and druidism. And now look at me, back here again. The draw of the city is strong. It's about time I come back."

He managed to take another sip out of his cup. Images of his past here in prime floated through his head in a moment of silence. Some good, some back combining in his head to form a very meloncholy emotion. He shook it off and soon returned to the last question that had been asked of him.

"Well you see Atl, I wanted to get back on the move, and back on track with some of my original goals. I figure a good job, a decent place to stay and some time spent on studies will do me some good. Figurin you could find just about anything here in Prime and because of my previous ties, well I thought spendin some time here would do me some good." He stopped a moment before his next point because he was a little hesitant to make it. "Ya know I never did finish that training over in Mystique. I know you probably expected me to be a bit more along on my studies of the arcane by now but such is not the case. It was simply not the right time to finish that. Now it is. I was hoping i would find someone here. Any chance you know of a fellow druid willing to take on a pupil there Atl?"

Atl had already helped him with this before and now here he was asking again. Janis was a bit humbled but he thought there was a chance Atl could help him out. He was ready to finish what he started if it was at all possible.

Atl smiled as he commented about Prime. "It seems that many people find their way to Prime early in their life and then it seems to draw them back." Atl shook his head. He would prefer if his office could be outside of Prime. He really wanted to open a second office in Mystique to get out of the capital onces and a while. For that he was REALLY grateful for house outside the capital.

"Well Prime always has oppertunities. Always." Atl said with a half smirk. "I am sure I could help you find a job is that is what you want to do. What type of job would you be interested in. I have to warn you ab out houseing though. It is expensive."

Atl leaned back in his chair for a moment again. "As for training. Strangle or not so strangle Alleria doesn't offer Druidic training." Atl countined to tap his chin. "I would need to look into to see if their is any masters around. The Bureau's archives are a joke."

All Janis could do was nod in agreement with the first statement if the Nimalni. He suspected Atl and himself were not the first two to find themselves leaving the city for various reasons only to one day return to Prime for whatever the reason.

In line with the question Janis began to think about just what kind of work it was he wanted to do. He hadn't truly given that much thought yet. "Um...well, ya know I could do any number of things really. I wouldn't mind findin' a job with the city and such. Just so long as I'm not pent up behind a desk. But really anything that would want an honest guy willin' to work. I'd stock shelves if thats all that was available. Anything beyond what would sustain me would be a nice bonus."

As for living in Prime, well was it really that bad? Janis had some coin but not a whole lot. It seems as if this job might become more important then he originally thought. "Well, I figure I can work somethin' out somewhere to stay. I don't need much. A bed an' a window would be nice. There must be a bed somewhere in this town I can manage. And with the Druid, don't trouble yourself too much but if you do stumble across something I would much appreciate it if ya let me know. But ya can't make what's not there, eh? Masters just don't pop up outta nowhere."

Atl smiled but thought for a moment. "Well most of the jobs in the Bureau have a desk involved in them. Except for the pages which could most defently be compared to stocking shelves." Atl chuckled. "Sorry, its just the hardest workers around here are most likely the pages, and most everyone ignores them."

Atl shrugged. "I am sure their are other jobs out there, I don't know of any I am sorry. Most people don't talk to the Imperial Magus about job openings." He said with a chuckle. His face turned into sort of a grimace at the statement about finding a bed and a room. "Good luck thought. I eventually desided to live in the country side rather then deal with the prices." Atl tapped his chin. "I do have an extra room in my house, but I do have a child on the way so that is making the house interesting. Other then that I have discovered the Aediles to be very helpful."

Janis nodded. "Ah yes the Aedile who would have thought of that!" He said with a smile and a wink being a little sarcastic. But in a fun way. A comfortable way. "It's ok, I'm sure I can find something on my own but I thank ya for the offer." Then rewinding a bit Janis made sure he heard right and then continued to comment.

"A baby!!! That is wonderful news there Atl. Congradulations! I would feel like a big 'ole burden if I stayed at your place, especially with a baby on the way." He looked down for a moment then back up. "But I tell ya what, i would enjoy it if perhaps I could come out and see the place, maybe for a meal sometime meet the family, or perhaps we can catch a drink over here in the city sometime. When I get settled I'll drop you a letter with my address. If ya ever need anything I can help ya out with or you hear anything about a master druid around these parts or for the love of Ionnes you're just lookin' fer some good company, drop me a line."

The Janis stood up. He was actually starting to feel like a burden already. "But look here, I've probably kept you long enough. I'm sure you got some important things to attent to. More important then chit chattin with yours truly. It's been a pleasure talkin to ya again Atl. Hope to see ya again soon." He held out his hand once more lookinf for a shake. This might not have been Atls most perferred method of hello and goodbye however, it was what Janis knew and well, no one could say a solid Windrough handshake wasn't sincere.

Atl smiled a gentle smile and his eyes grew lost in thought when the topic of his child came up. He then turned his attention back. "Oh course. When you settle down send a message to this office and let me know so that I can invite you over. It most likely won't be until next month since settling down with the baby will take a while." Atl stood up and shook Janis hand. "Until later my friend."
