Considering that it was still the cycle-end, it might have surprised the relatively bored marine guards that Alexis Sapientia just off and entered the suite of offices reserved for the Imperial Admiral without stopping, his naval aide, marine orderly, and a bevy of other officers trailing by, having acknowledged the two sentries with a curt salute. They were used to him, his immediate staff, that was, having been temporarily selected come the course of the other cycle-end when they'd last seen him, nearly a month ago, last Melora.
Clad in the dress uniform that bore his rank, Alexis pushed his way past the anterooms and into the main office, where he sat himself behind his desk (itself already piled with paperwork), while the rest of his staff dispersed, his marine orderly and naval aide the sole two individuals standing attentively in front of the polished wooden block.
Tea, Cencoris, if you please, and if you could rustle up something to eat from the local mess...a meat pie or something like it, I'd be most obliged."
Looking up, he bade the Trieririus sit down.
"Take a letter, if you please. To Their Imperial Excellencies...you fill in the rest, we're sending this to Imperia, et cetera, et cetera...I write to you to seek what information one can with regard to the extant situation in Imperia, and if possible, with the Western Realms as well," dictated the lad while riffling through the gathered detritus on his desk, brows furrowing as he began digging deep. "Much confusion has been heard as of late, and the lack of any credible information is most distressing...for example, who is in command of the government, and what is the state of the city and province at this time?"
He continued dictating for a good part of a candlemark, after which, he'd dispatched the fellow to send the missives off, just in time for the marine cencoris to arrive with a tray of tea, and with something else as well.
"Excellent. Food. By the Gods, I'm starving. Could you bring the rest of the paperwork over there...no, the long table should do fine...over there by the map room...chart room, they call it? Well, I'm calling it the map room from this point forward. Let's set everything there, I'll deal with it."
Sitting himself at the center of the massive table, so did he direct the placement of all the papers in order, the tray with all its goodies, last. Sniffing the contents suspiciously, so did he look down to see...
"By Markalin, tuna? Better than mackerel, I suppose. It'll do, it'll do. Which reminds me, supplies for the Classis. I recall in my time eating some Godsforbidden sea biscuit and rancid salted pork, but we'll deal with that in all good time..."
It was in the course of munching a series of small tuna pies that the Imperial Admiral got into the business of reorganizing the Imperial Navy, a task that had not been done since the brightenings of the Lord Zythinar, during the time of the other Regency.

"Right here, sir, if you would please take a look at..."
Standing up next to the map, Alexis tried to keep in mind that the markers all represented ships, with real crews, and real concerns. How very simple it was, sometimes, to dismiss them as nothing but toys, really, of little concern, now that...
"As you can see, sir, Provost Imperatis Sheng Kaldres ordered then-Admiral Gubur Ironside--you'd know him, sir, quite famous dwarf, was involved in the Siege of Jaedexia, with the rest of the Grand Admirals--to disperse the 300 or so vessels anchored in Archadoon as follows,"
Taking the sheet, Alexis looked it over.

He managed to look his naval aide incredulously. "What's all this about Alas? Is this a new language, or some code you kelpeaters managed to invent all the same?"
The trieririus all but smiled back. "An ala, sir, is a component of five vessels..."
"So all this means is that, of the three hundred vessels holed up in Archadoon, we've got how many of each, and where?" Some red could be seen on the youthful Admiral's cheeks.
"One hundred vessels each stationed currently in Archadoon, Taralon, and out back here, in Prime, sir." The trieririus smiled triumphantly, like a schoolboy with excellent marks.
"You would think that they would have better dispositions...one hundred vessels just docked here in Prime?! What are they doing? Fishing?"
"No, sir. They've been stationed there doing regular training, some are on shore leave, others are busy reparing ships and restocking the stores...I mean, sir, the other hundred vessels in Taralon have mainly been deployed to blockade Narim from orcish adventurism..."
"And they've been there since the sacking of Narim?"
"The armada out here in Prime, sir? Aye-aye, sir. After all, those were the orders they've last received."
"Good Markalin, almighty." The Imperial Admiral looked his naval aide squarely in the eyes.

Timestamp: Late Afternoon, 1 Cryxatum, Spring in the First Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne
Before the brightening was over, marine riders had been dispatched with hefty leather packages to all points of the Empire that had (to their knowledge) an Imperial ship in port.
Sent out in parties of five individuals each, heavily armed, they brought with them more than just mere news, but new orders. It could be said that new winds were blowing, and that the Imperial Admiral had decided that now was the time to hoist the sails.

The midmorning meal had been much disappointment, so much so that it was decreed hereforth that anyone who served eel to the Imperial Admiral would be clapped in irons, branded as a defaulter, and flogged at the rack until sense broke out in the erring fellow's head.
Needless to say, the memory was horrendous enough, and having satisfied his hunger by stuffing himself with some ship's biscuits, cheese, and tea, he'd pored over the conference table with his advisers to deal with the flashpoints in the Empire.
"Begging your pardon, sir, this just came in." The cencoris saluted, and left behind a sheet of paper.

Sir,
Retaking of Paxia unsuccessful, both the West Wardens and the 3rd Legion were pushed back by an Archmage Necromancer whom aided the Orcish forces. Furthermore, orcs that marched from Vortex attacked our artillery positions in support of the Necromancer and his horde. Losses are heavy but we maintain good unit cohesion and morale. Currently my forces are deployed in an arc of defense outside of Nexus Prime and are monitoring the roads leading into Paxia.
Many civilian lives were saved, however, as many escaped via the sea. This is due mainly because of the actions of Assistant Thane, Keldon Elsdragon, according to my reports. Bravery aside, the loss has been severe. The city is in ruins, now the nest of thousands of orcs. The population is scattered. The sooner reinforcements are sent, the better in my opinion.
Your Servant,
Imperatis Vincent Terrenil,
Commander- 3rd Legion
Narim was being dealt with; Sheng Kaldres had seen to that. Dispatching forces from Taralon and hence to the besieged city, they now awaited news for the results of the battle, but until such time as reports were released by the Legion headquarters, there was little they could do but wait, and prepare.
He continued reading from the associated papers at his side.

Kalendryas, Erai III of Era XII (pf.)
Paxia, Arium Province: Far too caught up in the embroiled political bickering of the residual effects of Narim and the controversial deployment of the transportation of aid to Sherian, Arium’s long-standing neutral diplomatic stance has suddenly been overturned by catastrophic events concerning its Northern seaboard. The Herald has received word that a legion of Orcs has astonishingly attacked and besieged the City of Paxia.
Stringent reports have reached Nexus Prime and Mileswick in concern to the attacking host of Orcs that seemingly invaded Paxia from inside out. Superfluous and elaborated, word was received earlier this brightening that Paxia was, or perhaps has already been, overrun. Such reports included a company of Orcs butchering the citizens within the residential and housing districts, setting fire to shops, and even mutinous betrayal in the transportation of refugees via ship in Paxia’s bay. Reports also detail the death of thousands of citizens within the city, the burning of the Falcon Legion Compound, and the destruction of the Paxian Naval Academy. No one is quite sure how the Orcs managed to enter Paxia, or evade the Western Wardens who frequently patrol the Arium Hinterlands surrounding the city.
Earlier last season, Paxia had been condemned and criticized for its heretical nature and the dismantling of the Tabernacle of Meephos that had been publicly praised within its merchant streets. It is unknown how His Imperial Excellency the Marquis de Merchante, Governor of Arium, will react to these accounts. The State of the Empire has truly reached a climactic downfall, perhaps foreshadowing the days to come.
Keira Klueess, reporting from Nexus Prime, Arium
He made a decision, just then. After all, there hadn't been much official response, and for all he knew, the Arium provincial goverment was busy doing not much else.
"Trieririus, come closer, please. I'd like you to take a letter."
"Sir?"
"Belay my last. Bring more paper. We'll be sending more than two."

Alleria Prime, Principality of Prime
Sirs,
May I personally thank you for informing me of the Imperial Navy’s participation in the battle to reclaim Paxia and avenge her fallen. This is indeed good news, though of course tempered by the tragic losses of those men and women amongst the ranks taking part in that hard fought siege. We will of course remember the sacrifices made by all who participated in the battle, offer our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones and families of all of those lost, and would like to personally commend Zeton Navarch Fragah Framar for his leadership in regards to the vessels under his command.
Most Respectfully,
Milo L’Evienne / Imperial Regent

OOC: Apologies for the delay. I can meet with your Cencoris in my Office thread if you wish, or if you'd like it to me seperate than a thread can be made. Once again, apologies for the delay.
That Particular Centripian Sorcerer delivered another letter to the Offices of the Regent.
Unto His Imperial Excellency Lord Alexis Sapientia,
Imperial Admiral of the Allerian Empire
Does His Excellency Sir Raliric Ered’Gard,
Lieutenant Governor of the Administrate of Centripax,
Knight Champion of the Knights of the Argent Sword
Send his most humble greetings and salutations.
Your Imperial Excellency,
I also read that particular Herald article and was quite happy to hear of the praise given to my old friend Keldon Elsdragon; though I was disheartened by the fall of Paxia and that I was, at that time, unable to come to its aid. Paxia has been a city of revelations and good fortune for myself and some of my knights and it pains me to hear that it has been reduced to rubble. I am glad that so many citizens of the empire were able to be saved.
With regards to the details of the Paxian Affair and I am, unfortunately, unable to add to what knowledge you have already. Master Elsdragon told me little of what happened and of my ten Knights whom were stationed in the city at the time only one remains and he is in no state to comment. I am sure that Master Elsedragon will be more than happy to fill in the details when he assumes his office as Provost in Alleria Prime.
As for the man himself? There is much I could say, however in writing I will put but a few words. He is headstrong and enthusiastic; whilst he is green when it comes to military matters he believes himself to be quite a military leader and strategist. I would not have thought him acceptable or capable of the level of command that Provost implies however his exploits in Paxia will apparently attest to his acceptability. I reserve my judgment. He is a friend and the words I have written are those I believe should be passed on to the Imperial Military through my duty as Lieutenant Governor.
As for Cencoris Hagen, I shall meet with him as soon as I complete this missive.
If you require any more information about Master Elsdragon than please do not hesitate to ask. I shall be in Alleria Prime in late Summer and thus would be available to meet with you if you would like.
May Aslan guide you,
Raliric Ered`Gard.
Lieutenant Governor of Centripax.
