Defining Our Terms (private: Espa please)
Continued from the meeting in my office to avoid clutter!

"Our working relationship?" Alicia asked gently, her misty grey eyes watching Espa closely "You work as part of this office, as part, I understand, of my staff. Your office is funded as part of the CHancellory and therefore, our working relationship is laid out quite adequately. I will expect regular reports from you, of course, and as to the exact nature of your role that will become clear as I settle in to post. Until then, I would like it if you would assume that I want every conceivable detail, because I do. I plan on working with the current structure of the Chancellory for one season and then I will reshuffle. What role you will play in that reshuffle, what role your section plays is something that I have not yet determined...in many ways the roles that people play in the reshuffle I intend will depend on their performance in the season preceeding" she said, calmly.
She looked at Espa and smiled slightly, her face friendly as she spoke "Make no mistake. As part of the Chancellory I will expect high standards of you as I will of all my staff. But at the same time I will make sure that your job is as achievable as possible. I do not wish, however, to limit what you do just yet until I have managed to settle in properly. Now, however, since you specifically requested an audience on the first brightening that I arrived, I assume there was something that was unable to wait a few days? How can I help?"
Alicia Gil'dae was many things. Many many things. But she was not, in any way, someone who would be pushed aside. So she looked at Espa carefully and hoped that she had made her feelings, and her stance very clear indeed.
"If, however" she finished "I am wrong and your office does *not* make you part of my staff, then please accept my apologies, and do me the favour of waiting until I have spoken to His Most Imperial Excellency so that I can determine the chain of command if it is not how I see it, yes?" she smiled and waited for Espa's response.
