[Servants & Underlings] - Whispers & Rumours

((OOC: This is a thread designed for the spreading of rumours and whispers, that might get around. Some of it will be able NPCs you have not met yet, some of it will be about PCs. Some of it will be misinformation & utterly untrue, some of it will hint at the truth as an ordinary servant might see it. Please do not post to this thread - as I am 'moderating' the forum as a whole, and what becomes rumour is partly my prerogative. If I think you might object to the 'servant rumour', I will likely PM you first before hand. Likewise, you can also chose whether your own character hears about this rumour or not; perhaps you are new to the Imperial City, and your servants haven't bonded with you enough to pass on gossip.))

The Imperial City, also known as the Imperial Forum, was populated by the rich, the powerful, and the influential; but people in power inevitably require minions, underlings, maids, and servants. They require help in their daily life, often not because they as people are incapable of washing their own clothes, but because polite society deems it indecorous if a man or woman of such power and privilege must dress themselves.

Of course, even the lowly Lictors were often noble by birth, and kept house in other parts of Prime, but there was a steady stream of servants going to and fro in the Imperial City. Lowly apprentice scribes would whisper of suspicious documents that passed through their hands, visitors to the Imperial Palace were invariably known about within a candlemark of their arrival; new appointments would be discussed in kitchens and laundry rooms all over the Citadel. Not all of it held even a whisper of truth though; in Fortress Anna, the strict prison, the rumours were much more scandalous and bawdy then in the Chancellory.

However, such rumours, tend to get everywhere, even back to the ears of the new Imperial Elite. Certainly into the clutches of the Old Guard nobility, and those ever present scribes & historians working under the Imperial Chronicler and the Imperial Bard.

Rumours about Milo & Nell, Mid Kalendryas onwards

Rumours of a pair of unmarried women staying in the Imperial Palace slowly filter out via the servants. A woman of unknown heritage, and an utter lack of decorum is known to have been inhabiting the Palace for sometime. Her scandelous mode of dress is oft commented on at the Laundry, and her friendship with the new addition to the Household, a woman with grey skin and uncertain parentage, has tongues wagging.

The lack of chaperones, and Nell's apparent acceptance of her Husbands antics leads to sympathy for Nell.

Mekere, After Kalendryas
Mekere gains a reputation as a neat freak, especially about her appearance. Rumoured to be exacting on her servants, and her ageless air means that she is gossiped about amongst the young noblewoman in the Imperial City, as if she were a ghost, or some heroine of a gothic novel. Rumours that she was jilted at the alter, and made a deal with a sorceror to retain her youth.

Palacrisis, Ponutis onwards
Palacrisis' wife, the Lady J'ylara Jones, has vanished without trace. After Palacrisis is seen at the Crown with the Lady Chancellor, rumours abound that he bumped her out of the way in order to pursuing the powerful ALicia Gil'dae

Motito's Rapid Exit
Motito's sudden departure lets loose a rumour that certain factions are planning to crush a predicted elven rebellion.

Arkahn's Appointment
Arkahn is rumoured to have bribed his way from no where to take on the role of Minister of Defense/Minister of War. Counter rumours run to the tune that he is too poor to buy his own residence at this time. Military rumours grumble about his history, but do not tell Civilian sources.
