An Aedile is an important magistrate of an Aelyrian Municipality who is responsible for overseeing commerce, public works, public housing and handing out licenses and visas. The Aedile is appointed by the Lord Thane. The position of Aedile is included in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Aelyria under Article 72.

In cities and larger townships there is often a hierarchy of Aediles, where a Senior Aedile appoints and directs Assistant Aediles. Many politicians who acquired realmwide influence, amongst whom Nell L'Evienne, Elanara Al'lende and Moranor Andares, began their careers as (Assistant) Aediles.
