Cloudkiss during the day:
The General Description:
Cloudkiss, The Eventide Estate itself is 300 acres of rolling hills on the coast of the Sea of Diana. That 300 acres is further broken down into 280 of which is in grapes. The Eventide family grow 100 acres of Larkson grape varieties, 50 acres of a bastardized vine purloined from over in the Aelyria Prime region, and 130 acres of grapes the Eventides have developed on their own. They bottle 12 varieties of wines and employ about 60 seasonal workers, 30 full time.
The remainder of the estate involves 5 acres of buildings for harvest, processing, pressing and storage. These include two enormous underground warehouses for the aging of wine in oak barrels (harvested from the maevenwoods nearby), two large stone warehouses above ground where the actual wine is made, and three other buildings of processing.
Another five acres is dedicated to the family residence, which includes an enormous stately old stone mansion that rambles in a series of breezeway and archway connected buildings. The home itself has 30 rooms, including the master suite, five other suites on the upper stories, 10 guest rooms, three sitting rooms, a large kitchen, pantry, wine cellar, large rambling ballroom, a music room, reading room/library, a roman-style bathhouse, a dinning room, a gentleman's parlor, a glass orangery, and embroidery room.
The entire attic is a large storage and servant quarters facility.
Other buildings on the estate include a large twenty stall horse barn, carriage house, Stewart's cottage, and a stone chapel dedicated to Carmelya. Behind the house, an extensive garden stretches out, surrounding a swan pond that brushes up against the residence itself. The Lady of the house does most of the gardening herself and cares for the estate's many horses. The drive up to the Cloudkiss Estate is lined with fruit trees which provide the family a seasonal bounty not associated with the vineyards is in forest and pasture. The remaining ten acres of Cloudkiss are set aside for horse pastures surrounding the immediate residence.
The History of Cloudkiss:
Located on the northwestern flanks of Daltina, in the rolling hills along the shoreline of the Sea of Diana, Cloudkiss has a long proud history of being one of Aelyria's finest wineries ever. It was born some years ago out the combination of a marriage between Vanessa Larkson and Addison Eventide. It's lands were a virginal 150 acres purchased by the Eventides that were merged with the adjoining 150 acre Larkson Winery. The Larkson Winery was Vanessa Larkson's inheritance from Evan and Kalari Larkson, a proud multi generational winery family. Though Vanessa moved to Aelyria Prime with her new husband, Addison, leaving the Larkson winery behind, when the Pox broke out in Prime, Addison sold his merchanting interests in Prime and fled with his family back to Daltina. There they purchased land adjoining Kalari's families winery, and along with the Larkson's help, started their own winery. Once Vanessa's family passed on, the Eventide and Larkson lands combined and were renamed to Cloudkiss. The name was chosen for the stately rolling hills of vines that rise up from the coastline. Soft clouds of mist drift in from the sea, kissing the vines and giving the estate a unique and very tasty assortment of grapes in which they make their famous wines.
The Wine List:
Barbera, Cloudkiss - Semi-classic grape which produces an intense red wine with deep color, low tannins and high acid. They have a sharp tangy flavor.
Chardonney, Enamoria - This variety is the best-known white-wine grown in Cloudkiss and is successful because of its mid-season ripening and versatility. This white wine is sweet, succulent, and goes with almost any white-meat dish.
Malbec, Eventide - Semi-classic grape creates a rather intense, inky, red wine so it is also commonly used in blends, such as with Merlot and Cabernts Sauvignon, to create the renowned red Daltina Bordeaux "claret" blend.
Merlot, Cloudkiss - Classic red wine which is sometimes blended, with other varieties for a pale blush... this popular wine is a stand-alone favorite that graces many a table or casual outing. It stands alone strongly, or goes well with any sort of heavy multi-course meal.
Muscat Red, Larkson - A lovely low-sweet desert wine in a deep red color, this wine is a sister to the Larkson white muscat that also graces the dinner tables throughout Aelyria in the desert courses.
Muscat White, Larkson - Thought the grapes muscat is made from can produce both red and white wines depending upon the clones, this particular vareity is a medium-sweet dessert style table or fortified wine.
Pinot Gris, Eventide - This high sugar wine can be aged into a golden-yellow wine with an aromatic fruity flavor that only improves with aging.
Riesling, Daltinan - This White Riesling produce a flowery, fruity dry wine with high acid and low alcohol. It can make outstanding late-harvest wines, and depending upon how its prepared, it can be formed into the famous style where freezing temperature extracted juice made into "ice-wine".
Sauvignon Blanc, Eventide - This classic white-wine shows a tendency towards a grassy, herbaceous flavoring. Its often referred to as "gooseberry" by professional tasters, when the grapes are grown on western faces. In southern faces, the flavors and aromas tend to be more citruslike, (e.g: grapefruit or pear), plus the characteristic "earthy" taste. So, in one variety, a good winemaker can get multiple flavorings.
Semillon, Larkson- Classic grape widely grown for its distinct fig-like characteristics. They are famous for producing dry and sweet wines from this varietal that will age admirably for 20 to 30 years. The Eventides also infected their vines with the "noble rot" fungi which can be used to produce first-class sweet white wines.
Viognier, Enamoria - Semi-classic white grape variety that has a full, spicy flavors somewhat reminiscent of the daltina and herbs and violets in the region. Viognier wine can vary from almost Riesling-like character to almost Chardonnay character, depending on production method, but is not noted for aging ability and is best drunk while young.
Zinfandel, Daltina - This important wine produces a robust red wine as well as very popular "blush wines" called "white Zinfandel". This Zinfandel is noted for the fruit-laden, berry-like aroma and prickly taste characteristics in its red version and pleasant strawberry reminders when made into a "blush" wine.

Ugh, the joys of looking back and forth between the realmcraft thread and the location then posting in the wrong spot.

This is a realmcraft thread, Rougenoe. You might want to post in the real thread. I think Avrie has a link to it in her signature above you.
