Major Trade Routes [Prelim]

Red if by land, blue if by sea.

For the econonerds on this site...just trying to figure out how and where goods move throughout the Empire/Princedom.

Remember, this only intends to show the major routes of goods movement so that we can hopefully nail down the most likely hot spots of production.

Comments would be awesome!

The Trading House ran caravans from Primus Gaudeo to Aelyria Prime via Daltina and Midpoint. Cargoes could be shipped them, travellers could travel safely with them and of course caravan guards were employed.

Vortex is a trading city as well so there should be some routes passing/going there. I'd add Vortex - Estelgorod and Estelgorod - Paxia for starters (Roland should have set up lots of trading between the two cities) and IIRC it's mentioned somewhere that traders keep their distance from the Aslangrad ruins when passing by. The previous map had straight roads to NP and Paxia, but with the current geography ships look the most logical thing to use to go there.

*ponders* Why not even take barges or other smaller boats and use the river Carmelya? Maybe add some flavour and have it so that boats can only go as far as Fairhaven where the goods are put onto carts. Though that's perhaps going a bit into Arium development

Maybe draw up one to Diana & Primus Gaudeo too? They look like logical connections on this map.

If you feel like adding underground Vyssie trade routes: Nexus Prime - Castle Nocturna - Vortex - Acumin. Not much to do with the rest of the empire though.

I think Peda shouldn't be included in the map as a part of the major trade routes since the town was raided and occupied by the Orcish horde.

Well first to the nexus prime vortex and all that area. Mileswick is the central trade hub. with goods coming in from the port towns to mileswick and then out to their destinations.

for vortex, Iimaginet he trade route, avoiding aslangrad, would probly scrape through fairhaven and as much in the foothills as they could. Though, I'm unclear on the resuts of times arrow and all that, dont know if aslangrad was braught back from the past or some such nonsense, in wich case 'awsome, cursed city filled with people' better kill them alll and purify the city.

as for diana, while its a logical place for land trade to split between goin gto centripax or vortex and on, diana itself is does not have a great deal of that trade going through it. i'v always written it off as high trade taxes or the church just being to much hassle .

then for trade to arakamat, its more likely to come from the north since trade by sea tends to be faster, though I beleive arakamat was always assumed to be a point of trade between the north end of the desert and the south.

but just random notes

Aslangrad (or what's left of it) is currently a ghost city (by which I mean it's empty).

Hey all,

Thanks for the feedback.

The map's not supposed to show every trade route...simply the most likely course from one major production center to the next. I've identified these as AP and PG with PA, Portshire, and Ieffreon acting as distribution hubs. Does this make sense?

Arium has usually been roleplayed as a sort of wasteland, so I figured it wouldn't be a big production center...hence the lack of really big trade routes. As for Arakmat to the sea, Dim, I agree, but Imperia's large amount of crime would most likely make a land route more plausible/profitable.

Anyway, those are my own personal thoughts. Please correct me if I'm wrong or let me know if you disagree.

Thanks for the head's up, Evy. I'll nix the sea route around the peninsula.

If anyone can spot a geographically easier way to get from one place to the next, that would be a good thing to mention. So far everything follows a road or river.

Thanks again, everyone!

Wow Mal, thanks for taking on this project ! This will be a great help to what I am working with. You rock. I'm kinda rusty on old trade route lore, seems these folks remember more than I can atm. However, the rough draft is looking like a great start.

You can keept he route around the peninsula since the Imperial Navy could very well escort ship conveys, just don't have them stopping in Peda

Trade routes in Enamoria going into Centripax should pass through New Coldmoon and through a road in the Dolwoods up into PG and Zerdargia.

The map is different. It's certainly not the same that I've been using. The one I have has a road just above New Coldmoon, which leads to Zerdargia.
