Blessed Icons

Not too far from the Waterfront of the Docks, a little ways from the Tattered Sails, there stood a small shack sandwiched between two larger constructions of brick and marble. Before Imperiageddon it has been a humble shack, and ironically since the meteors had devastated the city, it had fared quite well. The devastation and destruction around it had gone now, leaving buildings which were more damaged, more shabby looking. And so the "Blessed Icons" had inadvertantly appeared to take a step up in the world when it was rebuilt.

It was a humble establishment, unassuming in it’s outward décor. The only thing that separated it from other shacks of it’s type was a brightly painted sign that hung out front, which announced the name of the establishment as ‘Blessed Icons’. Monarch butterflies were painted around the letters that were written in flowing script, the detail of both the letters and depictions of butterflies attesting to the artistic skill of the one that resided within.

The interior of the shop was well kept, and fairly clean, a perfect environment for giving and receiving tattoos, which, judging by the small, plush table in the center, as well as the needles and vials of ink dotting the counters, was the primary purpose of this shop.

A small fairy, the proprietor Dooska Rainbowitch, fluttered this way and that during the day lit hours, and even a little bit past sundown. The first thing one would notice about this faerie, like most fae, is her brightly colored wings. They are predominantly black, with splotches of orange coloring, in the same pattern as a monarch butterfly. During certain parts of the day, a visitor might note her love for what she terms ‘Blueshine’ a sort of liquor made from fermented blueberries. It is during the hours that she’s drinking this concoction, that she really lets her creative muse take over, and makes the most beautiful, and expensive, tattoos.

It is said that she escaped the calamity of Imperiageddon by use of her magics. Some rumors even claim that she is a journeyman practitioner of Ikos, and can sometimes be persuaded, with either a good deal of coin or a valuable service exchanged, to give ikos-blessed tattoos that, while not nearly as permanent as the ink from the tattoo, are quite potent while they are in effect.

Dooska provides a valuable service to the community, allowing gang-members and pirates to proclaim their loyalties, as well as express themselves through the application of certain images to their flesh.

She flutters up into the face of visitors, moving around a lot as she does so, and smiles sweetly at them, ”Welcome to Blessed Icons. How may I help you?”
