"Well of course! We're awesome, just like I said to begin with."

"Thank you, captain. I am pleased that we have done our part... to eliminate a grotesque menace to these waters."

"And usher in a bright new age of friendship between sailor and Thëlyri! (I ship Captain Veringer and Thëlyri Leader, now. They're my OTP.)"

"Ah... thank you. Truly."

That was spoken to the Thëlyri woman who had brought back Ygg's Crown. Barthelme shook the water off the device and stowed it away in his pack. Then, despite his dripping wet clothes, he spent a moment just leaning against the rail and staring back in the direction of the wrecked galleon. A faint smile on his face.

"Suck waves, you cannibal-pirate sickos! Feels pretty good, huh, Barthelme?"

Yes. It did. It was almost enough to make him forget, just for a moment, about people he had killed in Fintagel and in Arkdün.

The fact was that Barthelme had killed a number of people he would really rather not have. Harmless, unarmed women who had been incapable of fighting back. Children, even. And his poor friend Mr. Todd. Their deaths had all been quite necessary, of course. Barthelme had done nothing more than what had to be done. In order to survive... to serve Risthal... to give N'umaessa what she needed in order for her bond with him to become complete. The worst of it was, he would do it all again if he had to.

Or rather, when he had to. The Nightmare would always have its little ways. Risthal's hunger, and Sylaphorme's, were insatiable. And in the end, it would all be worth it, wouldn't it? Of course it would. Barthelme did the things he did in order to end the lies and the torment of the false world of Telath... to drag the horrors hidden just under the surface here shrieking into the light of day, for all to see. He did what he did to improve the multiverse, and make it... true.

Still. Barthelme much preferred killing monsters, humanoid or not, to people who didn't seem to deserve it. It made him feel less like a monster, himself.

"Are you injured?"

Barthelme had noticed the young Thëlyri, near the strange Otherling girl, nursing her arm.

"I can take a look at that for you. If nothing else, I can numb the pain... until you can get to a better healer."

Well, Barthelme technically not a healer at all, but he was a Grafter, and had some experiencelore in using his training as a battlefield medic in a pinch. He could at least see if the girl's arm was broken or anything. Maybe even set the bone, if it was, though he'd have to get out his Grafting tools and operate in order to do so. Just get in there and stick the broken parts of bone back together with Der Kleber and such... he had definitely done that sort of work before.

But if it seemed to be merely sprained, or if the Thëlyri weren't comfortable with letting him operate? Oh, well, Barthelme would use whatever little remained of his Vis to relieve the girl's pain. Least he could do and all that.

Diamea is a glorious SuperheroDiamea is a glorious SuperheroDiamea is a glorious SuperheroDiamea is a glorious Superhero

Diamea took a twisted pleasure in seeing the pirates franticallly looking around, unable to see her, to see from where her death-bringing dagger came. She should be sorry for killing but in truth she didn't care, they were pirate, they choose this life.

One day she had to shave her hairs like the Thëlyri, Diamea decided, as the woman offered herself to help her dive down. That way of shaving the hair looked so... badass! And she was gonna to think about fashion while ready to jump from a sinking ship? Sorry...

The dark-haired girl grabbed the offered shoulders, as tight as possible, before taking a deep breath as they jumped out of the sinking ship.

The flight seemed to go on for such a long moment until the cold water hit her heavily, icy cold. Her grip tightened on the sea elf as she forced herself to not breath and up on the surface. A breath before the wave suberged them. It was another icy cold shower.

When they finally remained on the surface she breathed, shivers starting all through her body, too cold. No more ships, only tropical beaches! She decided in that moment.

She looked back in time to see the galleon finally disappearing below, the last pirates falling to their deaths. This was the end then? She hoped so.

With the sea woman, she made it back aboard the Fourth Bridge. But the fog... only that now there weren't more headaches, only hard shivers. God if she felt cold! "Thank you." she said softly to the sea woman with green hairs with a slow nod and a soft smile.

At least all this fighting pirate, plunging in icy cold waters was gonna be rewarded properly, that was good! She nodded politely to the Captain "Thank you." But before speaking more, she had to warm up "You're a magician..." she called to Bartheleme "Can't you get some warm going?" she asked, with a grimace, moving a flock of soaked hairs out of her face. She doubted her magic could warm her up.

Alluvial Aegileif is unknown and forgotten
Diving from a ship proved significantly easier than trying to return to one when one's legs had reverted to fins. She had made her way back with the injured Thëlyri and was fortunate that others were helping pull the overboard members of the original boarding party from the sea. If not for that, it might not have been so easy to blend. She half-crawled to one side, studying the Thëlyri woman with a mixture of disdain and relief painted across her features. She would never have dreamed that she would go out of her way to help such a creature, but in this case they were aligned - or so it appeared. The memory of the Captain's man leaving the cabin with the staff flitted across her memory. Perhaps they more than anyone else on the ship would find his cabin interesting.

Smoothing her wet skirts around her demorphed legs, Arial shivered as the warmth of the sea receded to the cold on the hard deck and the slower process of regaining her land-walking guise began. Some were more practiced, could guide the changing of their fins and tails in a blink, but it was a skill that Alluvial was far from mastering.

Attempting to loop an arm around the young, injured Thëlyri woman's shoulders, she watched the swarm of people aboard Fourth Bridge warily until Barthelme offered his assistance. Her eyes drifted to the pack where he had placed a crown, of all things. What an unusual thing to cart about at random.

Looking beyond Barthelme to the Captain, she asked the Grafter abruptly, "What do you know of Captain? He is a trader?"

Eni Måll-Ådh is an upstanding Citizen
Eni's dive curved rapidly upwards immediately after hitting the wave. Spinning on his axis, he surfaced into a backstroke spouting water like a fountain. Looking up at the sky he smiled serenely. 'That was fun' he thought to himself... Taking a moment to let the adrenaline rush fade, he relaxed into his floating position and took mental stock of his body. His toes were still toes, his fingers froze and his brain heading towards pros. Yep all was fine.

Seeing the Thëlyri shoot off towards the singular remaining boat, he knew it was the sensible thing to join the party. A swish of his arms and a pulse of his wings and he shot into the air, the alternate fluid taking vigorously more effort to support himself than the previous. Significantly more effort even than earlier when the larger ship was still afloat... He felt tired now...

Flitting towards the ship Eni heard Diamea's comments regarding warmth and 'landed' on her shoulder. It was in fact one of his rougher landings and was accompanied by a soft splotting squelch. He sat. His legs were tired. He spoke up addressing Diamea. "Just know you are warm, then you will be." The bedraggled rag covered pixie smiled serenely at her, knowing that he, in fact, was warm... Some of Barthelme's teachings had made Eni aware that in some aspects his physicality might not be warm. But, in a much more real way, he was. And that would be fine for now, because that was what truly mattered.

... Eni paused for a moment before looking to Usira and then to Barthelme. Talking to Barthelme he simply said, with a knowing nod; "Wicked crown dude... 10/10 would do again". He smiled at them, the same tired smile that Diamea had received. He appreciated the duo, even when they tried to demolish his personality. It didn't really matter in the end anyway, after all, he was no-one

His body was tired, though warm, it seemed and he was feeling the pleased sense of satisfaction that comes with good exercise and a job well done. Nevertheless, something was playing at the curiosity of his imagination. His wings buzzed once, twice, with interest. Looking at the emerged two-legged Thëlyri he was filled with an imagining of a life under the sea. With a sudden intensity and a curious piercing stare Eni addressed the leader. "Where do you come from?.... Do you have an underwater city?"

Ceva Nil'riia is a benevolent Adventurer

Barthelme:

Captain Veringer nodded. He let out a exhale of relief. One hand went to his neck as he pressed against it. It had been a stressful morning. The Ygg Crown seemed in decent condition, a little wet perhaps.

The sea elf woman nodded her head. She held out her arm. It was at a slight angle as she held it out. Barthelme could tell, even given limited medical experience, it was a simple fracture. If he could tie something, or fasten it into a set position, the bone would heal. She would have to hold off swimming for a bit.

He used the last of his vis to ease her pain. The woman noticeably sighed happily as the sharp sting left her. A few coughs from her, but otherwise she would be fine with time and healing. As he completed tending to her the ship left the fog completely.

Diamea:

The journey was not long, but the chill remained far longer than the journey. The Thëlyri were back on the ship as they let Diamea get her legs back under her. There had been quite a bit of rocking back and forth in the water. The water dripped off her as she tried to shake dry. The ship itself wasn't very warm. The breeze gusting the sails also didn't help matters.

They emerged from the fog safely. The woman with green hair and her head half shaven nodded. She began to sharpen the edge of her spear with her hook. A true warrior of the sea. Her body looked built for swimming and war.

The captain returned his nod. He laughed lightly as she asked to be made warm. The man with the pipe stepped forward gestured to a small box on the deck.

"Pipes and smoke in the oak box. A few puffs and you will warm up."

The young boy Diamea had previously helped ran up to her. His eyes wide.

"That was incredible, you are a real hero."

Alluvial:

The sight of Alluvial changing shape might have been met with a mixture of curiosity in most scenarios. In this particular situation, the crew on board had seen all kinds of strange things. This was just another. The sea elven leader, stern woman who wore a coral band on her brow, nodded and whispered thanks to Alluvial.

The Captain didn't seem to pay much mind to her question. He was simply gazing out on the horizon. The rest of the crew began conversing with one another. All seemed genuinely pleased with the results. Even the sea elves seemed to let pass the recent transgression given the recent heroism displayed.

Eni:

Everything seemed to work as Eni fluttered back to the boat. He managed to make it back. He was a bit tired for the journey, but he had plenty of time to rest at the moment. The various crew discussing different matters with one another. Other than a bit of mild exhaustion, he felt fine.

The female leader of the Thëlyri turned as she was addressed. Her long spear in one hand. She peered around for a moment, and then noticed him. She leaned forward to make sure she saw him. Once convinced her eyes were not playing tricks she addressed him.

"My tribe comes from a coral growth to the west. It is full of caves, not a city as you know it."

All:

In the distance, the sea rose in all directions. It would still be another night before they reached the port. The ship had been in the fog and sailing for a time. The Captain nodded to the adventurers and the sea elves. His cleared his hoarse voice with a cough.

"We will cook up a meal for all of you shortly. We will see what we have aboard."

If he operated, Barthelme thought, he could just glue the broken bone back together with Der Kleber. But, that would have required cutting through the skin and the muscle beneath it. Probably he wasn't in any shape to attempt such a risky operation under these circumstances, and anyway, he didn't have enough Vis left to ensure that the young woman would remain unconscious during surgery. So, he settled for rigging her up with a makeshift sling.

"I'm afraid your arm is broken," he told her. "My advice? Keep it still... like so... and leave it to the others to do the swimming for you. This sling probably isn't waterproof... but, it should tide you over... until your people can arrange better care."

He smiled faintly at Eni. "Though this world is but one dream among many... there are wonders to be found here, if you know where to look."

For Diamea, he could only offer a helpless shrug.

"No more Vis, I'm afraid," Barthelme said.

"Just as well, probably. Would you really want Barthelme using experimental Mysticism to try and force your body temperature to rise?"

"Eni has the right of it anyway, Miss Diamea. Willpower will have to do. And... perhaps also a change of clothes."

Well, Barthelme had a couple of changes of clothes on his pack, which naturally was quite dry, since he had left on board ship when they went. He'd just go below deck and change in whatever scant excuse for privacy this small vessel had. Except that now the Otherling girl he had seen before was addressing him. Asking about the captain, of all things.

"Captain Veringer?" Barthelme asked. "Yes, he's a merchant, from what I gather."

"Had business problems that we solved for him. Didn't much like Thëlyri up til now. Beyond that we don't really know him, but he seems like an alright guy."

Usira's voice would be projected into Alluvial's mind, of course, like everyone else's.

"If you want to know more... why not ask him yourself?"

"He is right over there."

What was Alluvial even doing aboard ship, if she didn't know she was a merchant vessel? Well, actually, that question barely even occurred to Barthelme. He assumed that the mermaid came from beyond the veil and was here on some inscrutable Otherling business.

Anyway! Barthelme would excuse himself and go change into dry clothes below deck. Then just wait until pracenda was ready.

It seemed like they were just about done here, yes?

Such a warrior the sea elf was... already back to take care of her weapons. Diamea admired, she couldn't not do that, such a body built for swimming and war. It was perfect in it's own way.

At the offer of smoke and pipe, she had to refuse. She didn't smoke, she didn't like it. "Thank you for your offer but... no." she said, shaking her head.

Diamea doubted what Eni said, she could think she was warm but still she kept shivering in the cold gushing breeze. The only way she could feel better was going below deck and change in something warm and more importantly dry! "Mmpf..." she said simply moving to the hatch.

But the boy she had helped rushed to her, wide eyed. It was the first time someone said that to her, with such a face. It made her blush but inside, she felt proud. She had impressed in a good way. And she didn't know what to answer.

She smiled to him "I just did what I thought right but I'm glad you think so." she ruffled his hair softly "If you want I can tell you what happened on the ship. But now I need to change."

Hopefully Barthelme would let her go changing first, since she was a woman and since the room below deck was all for eneryone. In any case, she would chang in the dry clothes she had below deck and rest for a few moments in her bunk.

Now she was starting to feel all the tension and fatigue from the fight hitting her. Her body asking for some rest, she gave it, closing her eyes.
