The Sleeping Moneybags (Ibus, Luit, Adelyn)

[Thoth]

The man behind the desk promised each that he would take their bags and they would be safe and returned to them safely as well.

It was only a couple moments latter when a Halfling walked into the room and looked over the three people sitting in the lobby. They were the only ones in the lobby at this time, but the three got the impression that this wasn't uncommon.

"Serale Adventures I am Doctor Grastrom. Leading Docter here in the Asylum. I understand that you three are here for the article about Gregous tem Restaso treasure." He said after a long moment. The might be surprised to see that he was a halfling and not a very happy on at that. His scowl had etched itself into his face.

"Gregous is currently in a common that he most likely won't wake from, but we did agree to allow adventures into his floor."

He turned and lead them through the building. The interior of the building was far more pratical then the outside. It was also designed to keep the clinets from hurting themselves. As they began to walk up the stairs the doctor began to talk. "I would appreciate it if you would keep it quiet as your on the floor, some are trying to sleep, and others aren't to comfotable with shooting." Why he worked with mental handcap was anyone question.

The room they were lead to was a simple room, a comfortable bed sat in one corner of the room. A table sat in another. some pictures decorated the walls, and some books sat on a shelf in one corner. The room was dark though until the doctor lit a candle. "Any questions before I leave you to your search?"

[Adelyn Weiss]

Adelyn smiled politely at the attendant took every single one of her worldly possessions and admittedly she felt slightly nervous doing so, but conceded like the other two. She wiped her hands on her pants, and stretched ever so slightly from the weight of the bag.

She glanced curiously at the other two beside her and grinned. "Serale! My name is Adelyn. It's a pleasure to meet you all. I take it we are all here about the article." The woman was a good sport and for no reason did she feel a streak of competition, at least not yet. Her eyes sparkled as she enjoyed meeting new people and these two looked the adventurous type. Never did she peg herself as adventurous but the prospect of a treasure hunt got the best of her.

The leading doctor arrived then. He was a lot shorter than she expected. Adelyn did not often look down on anyone given her short stature. "Serale," she nodded at him. He instructed them all to walk quietly and she followed. The asylum did not look like a place Adelyn wanted to stay for the duration of her life in old age, and she shuddered at the thought of anyone currently here.

They entered Gregous' room, where the man lay on the bed in a coma. Sadness washed over her, and she felt bad for his condition. Adelyn turned to the doctor and asked, "Could you repeat the 'clues' Gregous left, please? Do you know any details or specifics to what exactly we're looking for, or even where to begin?" The questions were many, but definitely legit.

She turned to the other two, "What do you two think we should do or where to start? I'm excited!" She clapped like a child, her cheeks turning pink.

[Luit]

Sensing peoples intentions, whether for good or for bad, was something that Luit had always been able to do his entire life, or at least he thought so. When he saw the woman whom was here for the same reason as himself smile, Luit instantly thought of her as a good person.

"Serale! My name is Adelyn. It's a pleasure to meet you all. I take it we are all here about the article."

Once she spoke, Luit's suspicions were confirmed. Delighted that a person he presumably would be working with was, at least for now, very welcoming Luit replied, Serale. I am Luit of the Vigiles of Diana. It's a pleasure to meet you; and yes I am here for the same reasons as the two of you presumably are." With that he shot a quick glance to the third man, for he couldn't possibly be here for anything else; he looked sane enough.

Just as he was about to speak, Luit observed a quite surprising character walk into the room. Though taught by the church to not judge others, Luit couldn't help but think, "Can he really be the doctor?" Sure enough Luit heard the man introduce himself, and Luit made sure to bite his tongue.

"All people are equal under the vigilant eyes of the gods; especially one of such a noble profession. How can I think poorly of him?" Luit was upset at himself for judging the doctor based on pre-conceptions.

Luit followed the doctor and the other two through the building, keeping a keen eye out. All of the patients seemed controlled, so the quest probably didn't involve having to fight any deranged humans. Luit was grateful for that. As they entered what was presumably Gregous' room, Luit was a bit taken back. He had feared that the room would contain some deranged beings or heathen statues, but it looked plain enough.

"Any questions before I leave you to your search?"

Luit had thought to ask the doctor for any suggestions, but Adelyn had beat him too it. After she asked her question Luit simply awaited a response from the doctor. Before the doctor left Luit made sure to speak up though, wanting to make sure where to go if there was trouble. "Good sir if there is any sort of trouble, with the patients or anything for that matter, where could we find you? I wouldn't want to disturb their healing."

"What do you two think we should do or where to start? I'm excited!"

"Well it is good that there are others as enthusiastic as myself," Luit thought as he started to reply. "I'm not really sure myself, but perhaps we should start with any of his possessions we find in the room. Clothes, jewelry, or of course a journal or some sort of tome." Seeing the woman clap, Luit added, "Yes I am eager to fulfill this man's last wishes. I wouldn't want him to not be able to rest."

[Ibus]

Ibus, being of small stature and today, humble mind. Accepted the gnome for what he was. Nice to see that it wasn't all humans here.

He bowed deep to his would be companions as they introduced themselves.

The Human girl seemed blessed with looks, for his own standards and understanding of human attractions.

And the Male was clearly a trained soldier of some kind.

They both seemed friendly enough, dough.
"Yes, Serale on you both. Fair Lady and Mister. I am Ibus Moonchild, Luthran of the land over seas, here by chance and luck. I am a Adventurer." He tried to look flamboyant and rugged, but as usual he just looked cute and fluffy by human standards.

He tailed them as they where lead to the rigth floor. Strange setting this, he thougth. Not what I expected at all...

They started to chat and get planing in order, Ibus listened. And asked a question he felt was half rude, half necessary.

"That is good ideas, yes. Are we splitting rewards by the rule of even? One third share to each? Assuming we are cooperating off course..."

[Thoth]

The halfling did smile a little at the request for the clues. "Yes the first clue was 'The web of a spider catches many things. Some times flies and some time gems. Then follow the web and behold the legend.' It is a simple clue, but he enjoyed them. I would recommended starting here. I will be around, but their is a nurses station down the hall if you need help."

He nodded to them. "Excuse me."

[Luit]

As the doctor was departing from the room Luit turned to the other male in the party. "A Luthran you say? I must admit I have never another before in my life. It is a pleasure to make your aquaintance," Luit said as he turned to the man.

Now Luit certainly had quite a few presumptions about different types of people. In his eyes at least, witnessing or hearing off actions and beliefs of said people justified his attitude towards them. Though he was trying, and trying very hard at that, to learn to do away with these prejudices and act according to his faith, he didn't need to worry about that with the Luthran. Ibus was the first one he had ever met, either male or female. Luit extended his hand to Ibus while offering, "Serale Ibus, I am Luit."


When the doctor left the room Luit stood there with the other three, hoping that they weren't as perplexed as he was. "All my father's talk of thinking logically and using your brain before you act certainly comes in handy here," Luit pondered as he remembered what his father had taught him. "Start with finding the problem first, then try methods from the most logical to the least."

He looked towards the other two and started, "My Luthran friend brought up an excellent point, we need to decide if we are even cooperating and then how we split the reward. Personally I am willing to cooperate fully with you two and split the reward into even thirds." He then took a step back and shot another quick glance around the room, searching for any bookcases, chests, or small containers that might contain personal effects or diaries. After his search he explained, "If it is agreeable, I believe we should start with the obvious. Like I suggested before personal effects or diaries would be my first stop to search for clues. What do you two think?"

Luit didn't want to come across as simple or naive to the other two, but his thoughts pressed him to say something. "What if your right? It would certainly not only lead to the treasure but praise as a very rational thinker," he thought as he wrestled with his worries about his idea. Finally his bolder side won, and he spoke again, "The other idea that has struck me so far pertains to the clue. It seems somewhat vague and cryptic, but what if it is not? Barring some deeper meaning behind the words, perhaps it literally means a spider web? It would be a good idea to keep all our eyes out for one just in case."

Luit realized he had spoken a great deal, and stepped back hoping not to over-power or try to lead the others as he often did. Being a leader was in his nature, but he had heard not once of his willingness to lead hindering others efforts.

[Ibus]

"A Luthran you say? I must admit I have never another before in my life. It is a pleasure to make your aquaintance,"

Ibus nodded and smiled as he took the paw.

"Serale Ibus, I am Luit."

"Nice to meet you too."

Then Luit started to talk his ideas and inputs, Ibus was surprised at this turn of things. He was usually the one talking like a waterfall. But he didn't mind. He simply kept on nodding, and patting his short tail softly on the floor. He looked down on it, and then up on the roof.
"Three mind's is better than one. Yes?"

Tapping with his tail he heared for hollow places on the floor, while looking for patterns on the floor and in the roof. One often miss alot by looking up, and himself being a small one had to mind what was above him or be trampled by the bigger beings of this world. So the others could search the belongings and that, he would start from his own perspective.

[Adelyn Weiss]

Adelyn was taken aback and delightfully pleased Luit took such a leadership role in this expedition. The woman felt accustomed to taking up that position, especially having just come from an era's work as an Aedile in Paxia. She breathed a sigh of relief and let her guard fall. She would not need to be so on the up and up nowbright, and that pleased her greatly.

"Starting with the possessions he has left in this room is an obvious and good way to start. Let's be rid of the more obvious places to look and see if we don't find another clue. Webs and spiders are all well and good, but not exactly the easiest to spot!" She smiled at Luit, her sensual lips curving into a smile. Of course the woman did not do this intentionally, but this was simply the nature of her beauty.

Adelyn turned now to the Lutran, looking down, "It's great to make your acquaintance Ibus! I spent an Era living with a Lutran. Looie, the Lutran. He was quite the talker! I was starting to believe all Lutrans talked up a storm, but I was mistaken." And indeed Ibus was a cutie in her eyes, and much different from the first Lutran she'd ever met. Lutrans came in all sorts of colorful personalities, she figured. "Well, like Luit I am also willing to split the rewards into thirds. It seems only fair. There isn't exactly a quanitifiable way of saying 'I carried out the wishes of Gregous more than you' now is there?"

The doctor now out of earshot she whispered to them, "He sure wasn't that much help now was he? I suppose he isn't really supposed to tell us much anyway." She covered her lips with her hand and giggled just a little bit. She was liking the company of the two already, and she felt comfortable joking around with them.

"Well, let's begin shall we?" And Adelyn took a look around the room to see for the first time just what was in it. Gregous' body in a coma, just in front of them was mildly distracting. She wondered if he could hear them, felt horror as the three of them shuffled through all his personals. She felt a wave of embarrassment, but it couldn't be helped. Would the body contain any clues?

[Thoth]

The man appeared to have mad quite a collection of objects. Ibus happened to stumble upon a strange sort of hint. He opened a box and found spiders and insects of all sorts. Mostly spiders thought. Their was a number of different kinds. Some appeared fairly dangerous and ugle.

Adelyn noticed something odd that that the man had some type of chain around his neck that disappered under his shirt. The man was breathing very shallowly. It was hard to even hear it but if she listened she could. The mans skin was wrinkled and splotchy, his hair white and bald on top.

Luit looked through the journals, and was saw that he was a gossiper as he scanned over the writings. He talked about any number of people, especially about one of the nurses who seemed to have been a constant visitor. He did mention his chest a couple times, but is didn't appear to be any wear around the shelves. Maybe some were else in the room, some place were people hide things.

[Luit]

"He sure wasn't that much help now was he? I suppose he isn't really supposed to tell us much anyway."

"Yes," Luit responded to Adelyn's comment about the doctor, "He certainly didn't seem overly interested in the state of Gregous' health of his possessions. Perhaps Gregous was not too well liked here?" Even though Luit felt that there was no excuse for not trying one's hardest to help another in need, he let the feelings go as there was no way he could correct that now.

Luit nodded in agreement towards Ibus when he said,

"Three mind's is better than one. Yes?"

"Yes," Luit responded as he watched with curiousity as the Luthran started searching for clues along the floor. Luit wanted to say something, to point out what he saw as a flaw in the Luthrans judgment, but he managed to restrain himself. Perhaps it was the good feeling Luit had from helping out Gregous, or the conversation with Adelyn raising his spirits, but whatever it was he didn't speak up against the Luthran. In fact, Luit actually started to see that perhaps the Luthran had a point in looking where he was most comfortable, and others would overlook. Luit remembered one of his favorite sayings to hear in his youth, "To each his own."

With each individual checking a different area, Luit was confident they would soon stumble upon some clues. Thumbing through the diaries, trying to avoid being downright nosy, Luit started to recall a certain nurses name repeated over and over. She visited the room often, something which Luit found very interesting. At the mention of a chest the diary had Luit's full attention and he stood up and started pacing while reading.

Though the chest was nowhere to be found, Luit looked up from his reading at the rest of the room. "Where can this chest be located? Luit thought. Seeing no obvious hiding places, Luit could only hope that the gods would smile upon the three partners this day.

"I have found some interesting entries in Gregous diary," Luit started as he observed his two partners to see if they were interested, "For one there is a nurse mentioned here, though I have yet to find her name, that makes very frequent visits to the room. Though it is yet unclear exactly how this will help us, I think it is something good to keep in mind. Also, the diary mentions a chest, a natural hiding place for earthly treasures I suppose, but I can not find it's location. I can only assume it will be well hidden? I shall continue to search for this chest. Ibus and Adelyn, do you have anything to report thus far?

Luit then walked around the room once again, this time looking for any doorways or containers where a chest could fit. Some kind of hidden compartment was what Luit expected; someone like Gregous surely wouldn't keep treasures out in the open.

[Ibus]

Ibus was puzled of the contents of the box, Spiders and bugs?

"...do you have anything to report thus far?"

Ibus came tastling to Luit, and held up the little box.

"The web of a spider catches many things. Some times flies and some time gems. Then follow the web and behold the legend... I think I found the contents of the Web... Or in some cultures, Lunch. You want some? I hear the brown ones are really good."

The offer was a joke, off course and he laughed hearty and tapped with his feet on the floor in triumph of making such a good one. He though so anyways.

Suddenly his eyes gleamed with the inspired light of an idea and he tipped the box over, spilling its contents on the floor. Where he started to sort them out after species, then size and at last by color. Not sure what should come of it, perhaps some clue or hidden truth?

[Thoth]

OOC: Will just contiune.

IC: The insects and spiders scattered across the floor as he dumbed the container. They came in many different shapes and sizes, and the organization took longer then he expected as some times the color differences was so minumal that it took a while to make a judgement call.

Finally as he was nearing the end he came upon a black spider and was surprised to find it was cold to the touch. Upon closer inspection it turned out to be a spider made of obsidion.

Luits search around the room showed little in the way of hidden compartments in the walls, but he did notice that the bed appeared higher then was normal, but that may have been nothing or maybe not.

He did notice a loss floor tile but when it was removed it was just blank floor.

[Luit]

"You want some? I hear the brown ones are really good."

"Well, no quite..." Luit managed to get out before being silenced by a slight chuckle. All the professionalism that Luit felt he had to display, all this talk of death and final wishes; it all vanished in a second. He simply had to laugh at the Luthran's comment. He cracked a smile and said, "Perhaps if I had a cold ale, but I wouldn't think of having one without first consuming some of this worlds stronger liquids." With that he returned to his tasks, a smile now visibly on his face.

As he turned around the room again and again, Luit was confounded by what he had found. One of the side effects of being so bound by faith, so devout to it's teachings, is the belief that the gods would always illuminate the path for a follower. When Luit didn't see that light in the form of any obvious clues in the room, other than a loose floorboard that turned out to be nothing, he was obviously confounded. Turning around, walking towards the bed, Luit began to wonder what he could possibly do now. "Perhaps the Luthran has made some headway," he though as he went to sit down on the bed.

Then, it struck him. He got on one knee and looked at the height of the bed. "Odd, certainly very odd," he thought as he looked at the bed's height. It was higher than the rest of the room, and that was certainly very odd. Rubbing his chin in the manner he had learned from watching the local scholars, he pondered the possibilities of this. He turned to Adelyn and Ibus and said, "Well perhaps there is something to this room. The bed appears clearly taller than anything else. Interesting." Not knowing quite what to do with this discovery, Luit decided to do a thorough search of the bed, going under the bed and covering all sides of it, to check for any abnormalities after he consulted with the Luthran on his finds.

Seeing the black spider, Luit couldn't help but look at it in awe. "What do you think it is?" he said to the Luthran. Luit didn't know what to make of it, not being that knowledgeable on symbols and precious stones. Now being further confused, Luit turned back to the bed to begin his search.

OOCSorry for continually taking *forever*

Green eyes looked the old man's ill body up and down. She hoped not to become this old and sickly when she aged. Adelyn would not be able to bear a life spent half-dead on a bed brightening in and brightening out. Curious eyes spotted something golden shimmering underneath his clothes, hanging from his neck. With a slight tug Adelyn pulled it out from where it clung on his chest and held it in her hands. The chain was still on the man's neck, and she wondered if there was a way to unlink it in the back so as not to disturb the body.

Adelyn looked up to discover both Luit and Ibus had found things on their own as well. If she was able to, Adelyn would unclip the chain from his neck and bring it to the attention of the two others in the room with her. Adelyn walked over to Luit, and with a slight frown asked, "A chest? That's pretty interesting and definitely cause for some search specifically for it if we feel it's important enough. And look, I found this chain on his person. Look at this," and she pointed to it, all while looking into the man's eyes. "Interesting, isn't it? What do you think it means? Anything?"

The woman cringed at the sight of the insects. They made her queasy and uncomfortable. She stayed as far away from them as she could. But Ibus held a spider in his hand, and Adelyn did a double take. In the light the spider shone a brilliant black. "That's not a spider. It's obsidian, a mineral. I only know this because I've read so many books... but I think it can be found near volcanoes. Probably from his travels in his youth?"

Luit suddenly was on his knees and looking underneath the bed. Why, of course! The bed was definitely much too high, and Adelyn joined him in looking at what might lie underneath. It was dark under the bed, and Adelyn lifted the sheets on both sides and tucked them by Gregous' legs to allow light to enter. She glanced underneath, and immediately met Luit's gaze. Turning her attention she looked to see what else could be underneath the bed.

With careful work Adelyn was eventually able to take the knecklace off of the man, and was in for a suprise when she did take it off. It was a dreamcatcher, but she was suprised, by its odd pattern. The thing seemed lacked any curves, everything was straight lines and right angles. There were also little gems shaped like flys spaced around it.

The search for the bed did produce the desired effects, as with most beds the underside had boards to hold it up. As they looked one moved rather easily to the side, but before they knew it a box fell clattering to the floor from some clearly created chamber in the bed.

The box was of a black stone, the lid carbed in a similar pattern as the dream catcher, but in the center their was a open whole similar to the spider shape.

As they two looked at it they felt a brief shudder at its dark exterior.
