[Thoth]

The Vigils barracks was nice, if simple, the guards were out in the area in front praticing marching drills. They weren't dressed in the uniforms currently, but various stats of pratice clothing. Some in shirt and briches others in just briches while a few wore the pratice armor.

It was cold, but the training feilds felt warm for even now all of the sweet on the guards. Around the feilds besides the barracks appeared to be other buildings.

[Luit]

Luit hurried over from the Vigiles recruitment office, and he tried to follow the directions as best he could to the barracks. As he drew closer, however, he found he didn't need the directions as he could easily see the training fields and other Vigiles buildings, and of course all of the Vigiles, though notably lacking their usual blue garb, out and about. Luit walked hurriedly up to what he thought was the barracks based on the directions and it being the largest building and preceded to head inside. To the first person who apperead to be even close to the ranking officer of the barracks he approached and said, "Serale sir. My name is Luit and I was just sent over with these directions here from the Vigiles recruitment building. I've got all I own on me right now, so I believe I'm all ready to be assigned a room." With that he started to relax and await a response, but in an instant he snapped back and locked gaze with the officer and added a resounding "Sir!"

Luit wanted to ask some questions, namely about his pay, rank, and the amount of leave or free time he would have, but he decided to wait. "No sense in stirring the pot to early," he thought to himself. He would simply have to bite his tongue for now and hope his questions would be answered soon.

OOC: I hope I didn't bunny anywhere assuming I knew where the barracks were and being able to find a ranking officer, if I did please let me know and I will change it.

OOC2: I also have some OOC discussion about possible adventure/plot oppurtunities in the Vigiles, but I'm assuming I should post those in the Diana OOC thread? And once again thanks for taking up the thread.

The officer looked at the new recruit. He smiled and nodded. "Follow me young man. I will take you to the supply depo, and get you settled in." He walked towards one of the buildings. "I hope that you don't mind sharing a room with others, cause until you get your own residances, the soilders share a room, and even then when your on duty you will be staying here." He walked some more. "The Vigils served the Church and the Province, but with the seperation of the governorship and the Church we went with the governor and the paladins with the church. We are the larger of the two, and still a holy orders. Tonight you will take your oaths before the gods."

He paused at a door. "So Tell me about your self young man."

[Luit]

"The accomodations won't be a problem sir." Luit was trying to be as earnest as possible while still showing that he understood military discipline. He nodded as the officer explained the situation with the Vigiles, and he was glad that they were still a religous order. "So we report to the governorship, eh?" Luit thought to himself as the man revealed the split between the Paladins and the Vigiles. After careful consideration, and after the officer was done adressing him Luit ventured, "If I may ask sir, you said we were under the governor? So I'm assuming the chain of command would be officers in the Vigiles, then the commanding officer, and then the governor? Yet as you pointed out, we are still a religous order affiliated with the church, yes?"
Luit paused after this to think of how he would respond to the man's question.

"Perhaps he wants the long version?" Luit mused to himself as he walked with the officer. "No, I'd better keep it short,". he decided. He began, "Well sir my family is from a quite township outside of Prime. You see it's not really part of the city proper, but it sits just outside it's walls, making it a convenient place to raise a family for a person who works in Prime." Luit knew he had to be careful with the rest of his explanation, for he didn't want any doubt in the officer's mind as to Luit's upbringing.

"The village is nice, and my father works as an architect in the city. He is an educated man, and naturally wanted me to follow in his footsteps and get my education. I've always been at ends with him over my desire to serve Aelyria's people and my faith, but he eventually gave me permission and his blessing to leave. I have a mother and a sister, who now is off studying at university. I've always dreamt of joining a religous order of sorts, and the Vigiles caught my eye when I heard stories about their great exploits and heroic devotion to their faith."

With that Luit finished his explanation of his life, trying to keep it as brief as possible. Before he lost the Vigiles attention, he posed a few questions he had been considering for a while. "Sir if I may ask, are Vigiles on constant duty like the Imperial Legoins? Or do we get time off to leave the base? Also I was wondering what the pay is, and what my position will be?"

[Thoth]

The captian nodded his head. "Ahh a devote soul. We like thoughts." He said after listening. "It is good to have you here."

He thought for a moment. "I believe so, since the commander of the Vigils should be the provinical commander, and no other has been appointed. And yes, we serve the Sacred Three. Diana, Aslan, and Ioannese."

"Well here is the armor. You Grifs we need to get this young man the appropriate uniform and armor." Grif was actually a young woman who was fixing a uniform.

"Your size sir?'

[Luit]

"Well," Luit started as he looked at the woman, "I don't think I've ever been measured officially for sizes of armor or clothes. I'd imagine I would require something of the larger sizes though, perhaps the largest or second largest size you have." Based on his appearence one could see a large would probably fit best. Luit stepped back to allow the woman to size him up better.

Luit then turned back to the officer quickly and said in a somewhat cheerful tone, "Ahh thank you sir. It is good that I now understand exactly who I am serving. As for my other question, if I may sir, what kind of leave do we get during our service? And do Vigiles stay on base at all hours, or can they venture into the city?" Luit tried to remain as professional as possible, and after he had spoken turned away and back toward Grif who he assumed would size him up for the armor.

OOC: Basically with a lot of FT still to play with before the next time-shift, I'm interested in what kind of travel/adventure Luit can do while in the Vigiles.

"ahh yes. Time off, you are requred to spend one month each era here to train and serve as a guard. You must also be aviable for call when the vigils are called into action."

The seemstress smiled as she stepped forward and started to measure her newest charge. "Moment please."

She returned back to the room with the required garb. "Here is a chain shirt for now and leather briches for pratice, when you have passed your training we will give you a full set of armor."

The captian nodded and took his young charge. "Please follow me and we will get you a room. also tell me what is your weapon of choise.

[Luit]

The chain shirt and leather briches in hand, Luit turned to the seamstress and smiled. "Thank you. Hopefully I'll be back here again in not too long." With that Luit turned back to the officer. He stood and shifted his weight for a waning moment, but his decision was never really in doubt.

"Longsword is my weapon of choice, as I already have some basic training in it." With this Luit stepped forward and stood ready to follow the officer to his room. Not wanting to be an annoyance, he held any questions he might have had in his mind for a later time and looked forward to getting settled in his room. "Here we go..." he thought to himself as he awaited the officers move towards the exit.

The captian lead him into a room that occupied by six bunks. Already three people were in the room. All human men they were cleaning their chain shirts or making their beds, or just getting read. They snapped to attention when the captian walked in.

"Vigils may I introduce your new room mate. He has joined and needs to settle in." He turned to one of the bunks. "You may choose either of this two beds. Get to know your fellow vigils and prepare yourself for you oaths. Do you have a favorite god so we may summon a priest to them, or are you a worshiper of the whole of the Aetherians?"

[Luit]

OOC: Sorry for the delay, I was away on a team trip.

Luit looked around the somewhat small room that the captain had led him to, but despite it's size wasn't surprised to find six bunks. "Anything for your faith I guess," he thought to himself as he saw the three other men standing in the room. He tried to shoot a quick glance to each one, knowing how crucial first impressions were. Still not long removed from the comfort of knowing everyone in his home village, he was anxious to meet other people as devoted to good and nation as he was. Knowing introductions would have to wait, however, Luit turned towards the captain again.

"No sir, I do not have a favorite God," Luit stated answering his superiors question. He then set down his new equipment on the bed nearest him and saluted the captain, "Thank you, sir!" He wanted to let his superior know the he possesed the discipline needed to succeed in such a position.

Turning now to his three new room mates he started, "Serale, my name is Luit and I hail from a small village near Prime. I come to serve the good deities that watch over us all." Wanting to not make a fool of himself too early, he stopped there and awaited a response from the men.

[Thoth]

The captian nodded. "Excellent in that cause we will have a regular priest perform you oaths." He saulted back and left the room nodding to the others to contiune.

"Its a pleasure to meet you Luit." A black haired human said. The one cleaning his armor return to that, and the last came over to join his roommate.

"This is Tras," pointed to the one cleaning who waved, kinda, "this is Vestap, and I am Gregor. We have one other roomate, Chrenas who is currently praticing with his sword."

"We will be having our first lessons in a candlemark."

[Luit]

"Serale Gregor," Luit said to the man who had addressed him. He looked over at the black-haired man and thought that it was very nice of him to be so welcoming. An order like the Vigiles surely was a tight-knit group, a brotherhood of sorts. The bonds in any organization where your life was in the hands of those around you were sure to be almost unbreakable, but those friendships were also surely very hard to form.

Speaking once again Luit looked up at the second man who came to him and just as he had with the first man smiled and said, "Serale Vestap." Luit then shot a quick glance over to the third man and thought about what he should do. Obviously the man was not overly interested in Luit's presence, but nonetheless Luit knew he should greet him. "Serale Tras." Wishing to keep his exchange with the somewhat rude and mysterious man short, Luit turned back to the first two.

"Training eh? I should probably get my chain shirt and leather briches on then?" Luit asked the two men. While waiting for their response, he already began to pick up his new equipment and his sack of posessions and to put it on one of the bunks, showing that this is where he would be sleeping. He picked a bed as far away from Tras as possible, already perceiving that the two men that approached him were probably the more friendly of the roommates. Luit turned to Gregor with one final question, "Gregor do you know where we will report for training? With that he started to lay out his equipment on the bed as he awaited a response.

The bunks were simple, the top bunk had a chest at the end of the bed, while th bottom bunk had on that coule be pulled out from beneath the bed. They had a pair of sheets in the chest and a pillow. Actually the pillow and the sheets were nice, not fancy, but nice.

"How ever you wish to dress. With weapon pratice its less critcal, but you may want to get used to the armor." Gregor said as he helped the new person make his bed. "They expect to be able to bounse a crown off of these sheets." He said still showing him.
