Making mo' money

[Dante Asunder]

The Month of Imperos, in the Season of Autumn, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum, tenth brightening 4 candlemarks past sunset

Dante was out on the streets again ready to make more money. He was walking through one of the upper class neighborhoods looking for a mark. He stayed to the shadows and kept low so as not to be seen by any potential witnesses. He was in his dracon seeming hoping that his black scales would assist in his hideing.

The Richer areas of Diana had grown quieter with word of a new Archprelate. That didn't mean that their weren't guards out, but they seemed less. Individual house guards were still out and about for peoples house.

Unforantly for the Dracon hanging out this brightening their was one new city guard who was kind of excited about his new job and really seemed out to try and find any lurking ciriminals.

Dante cursed slightly in his head. He crouched low in the shadows and waited for Captain DoRight to pass. After a moment he realized that if the man saw him in his dracon seeming, it could cause trouble for other innocent dracons. With that in mind he headed back towards the Draco he stepped softly and stayed in the shadows, crossing the light only when absolutely necessary, and even then as quick as he could while still walking on the balls of his feet. He would return to his hovel and change his seeming. A cruel smile crossed his face, he decided on the seeming before he even arrived. Once back at the hovel Dante removed his attire and sat crossed legged on the floor. He pictured himself and then the overeager night watchman. He envisioned his body changing into the image he saw in his head. He then willed then change and braced himself against the pain that followed. After a quarter candlemark he checked his mirror to see how successful he had been.

The face looked close, and in the night it could be him, the largest problem though being lack of the uniform. Now he mostly likely couldn't past before the mans mother, but with the dark it wasn't necisary.

With a grin, Dante got redressed and headed back to the rich area of town. He stayed to the shadows and stepped lightly so as to not be seen by any house guards or city patrols; he especially kept an eye out for Captain DoRight. He would check around any corners before proceeding so as to not be caught unaware. Dante then once again started looking for the next likely prospect to donate to his business starting fund.

The streets were quiet as Dante entered the richer sections around the Tower and the gardens. In the darkness they all seemed similar, but one seemed to catch his eye. It had guards of course, but the two story mansion seemed ideal for the events. The trees providing shade for a stealthy person and the greenery makeing it almost peaceful

Dante smiled when he located his silver tuna. He was in no hurry, he convinced himself he had all the time in the world, lest he rush into a situation he wasn't ready for. To give him a little extra edge, Dante started to slip into clara. He positioned himself in the shadows, then closed his eyes. He let his sense of touch, taste, and smell slip away. Lastly he allowed his hearing to slip away. If he reached Clara, Dante would pull half of his vis into the plane of life, then mix it with the ara of the life plane and pull it into himself to create mana. If successful he would then picture himself in his new form, only with leaner muscles and slightly larger eyes and ears, thereby casting nimbility with the mana he had within.

Whether the spell was successful or not, Dante would then calm is breathing to coinside with his heart rate and crouch low. He would then watch the patrol routes of the guards for any sort of pattern or rythme. Once he figured out their patrolling pattern and when the guards were out of sight; Dante, stepping on the balls of his feet, would head for a tree near the mansion.

He kept his eyes and ears open for approaching guards, either humanoid or animal. Once he arrived at the tree, he crouched low and stayed right up next to the trunk of the tree, thereby making as little of himself visible as possible. He would wait for the next opening before heading for the Mansion or another tree, whichever was closer, but always towards his mark.

The dracon reached clara succesfully. He could feel his muslces relaxing as it got ready for his movements.

The dracon was blessed with patcients as he observed that the guards made rounds of ever half hour the would switch between the roving guard, and the ones standing at either gates.

Dante grinned as he discovered the guards patrolling pattern. He made sure his heart beat was still coinsiding with his breathing, then when the guards at the nearest gate left to make their rounds, he would double check for Officer DoRight and presuming the coast was clear he would make for the gate. He would stay crouched and step lightly on the balls of his feet.

Once Dante reached the gate he would pause there only momentarily to assure himself that none of the other guards would spot him, then he would head for the closest shadows, be it under a tree, near the wall, whatever. He would then move from shadow to shadow, progressing carefully towards the manor entrance. If he arrived there without incident, he would then attempt to enter said manor. Opening the door as carefully and quietly as he could. He would step into the manor and quietly close the door behind him.

The timeing was narrow to allow one to run past the guards. He managed to find the time, but rock in the past contacted his foot and shot against the wall making a lound clank.

One of the guards turned and looked at the gate. He seemed less ridgedly bound to his pattern though and walked over to investigate the noise.

Dante stayed low and hidden in the shadows. He would try to position the source of the shadow between himself and the alerted guard. Hopefully the guard would brush it off as nothing more than the wind, but you never know, so in preperation for the worst Dante kept his hand on his dagger for a quick upper thrust through the ribs of the guard.

The guard was good enough to check, much to dante and his disapointment as the guard meet the dracons eyes, but only for a moment as he slumbed dead onto the dracon with a knife in the guards ribes.

Dante caught the crumpling form of the guard and quickly looked around to see if anyone was approaching. He didn't want to have had to kill anyone, but hey it's the guards own fault for being too thorough. If there was no one around, Dante would remove his dagger, wipe it off on the corpse, and then quickly check the guard for valuables. He would then conceal the guard as best he could in any nearby underbrush. If there was no brush around, Dante would lay the guard near the compound wall so that the body would be in the shadows for one and someone would have to be looking for him for another. Dante would check the man for valuables, and then he would close the corpse’s eyes and position the arms so that it would appear from a distance that the guard was only sleeping. Once that was done, Dante would remove his dagger from the corpse and take another look around to see if anyone else was noticing the guard's absence.

If there was someone else around Dante would set the body down where he was, remove his dagger, and conceal himself again in the shadows by crouching low and stepping on the balls of his feet trying to keep the tree or other obstacle between himself and the other person. Dante would stay ready to give the newcomer the same quick upper thrust through the rib cage as he gave to the guard.

Once the coast was clear Dante would continue his route to the house. He would sneak from shadow to shadow, crouching low and stepping lightly on the balls of his feet until he reached the closest door. He would then gently check the door to see if it was locked.

The other guard apparently hadn't heard anything and just looked boredly over his should before contiuning along the wall. Fortantly for the dracon gardens appeared to be a hobby of the owners as their appeared to be a number of them around. Unfortantly bushes were in short supply. The flowerbeds in the dark would provide enough cover for the corpse. All that was on the guard was a locket with a picture, it was to dark to make it out, a dagger, his sword, and visa.

The house itself was nesstled in the shade of two weeping willows.

Dante left the locket, he didn't need that kind of souvenire for this dark deed, but he did swipe the man's Visa after leaving him in the flower garden. Dante, still crouching low, moved from one shadowy area to the next, consistantly approaching the entrance to the manor.
