Firm in the Faith (Dante and Leyon)

[Thoth]

The area outside Diana was barren this late in the winter. The gap that the city resting in was clouded with smoke that rose from the chimnies of the city. Relatively unnoticed beyond the city was a large hill. Before today it had been the sight of windmill that turned gentle in the breeze. During the summer it had burned down and in its buring a young nobleman had bought the land.

Something had been discovered. Something that needed the imediate attention of several people in the city

[Leyon Juddah]

As there have been an increase in their population in Diana for the past months, Dracons are a regular visitor to the Benedictus Hospitalitus Motherhouse. Where the Motherhouse lacked training in treating various ailments of the Dracons, volunteer Thaumaturgists selflessly volunteered their services.

Interestingly, patients and visitors at the Motherhouse would exchange furtive glances among each other. Leyon Juddah soon realized that some of them came from the now outlawed Church of the Sacred Three and some from the Church of the Faith. Their exchanges were but uncomfortable pleasantries. When the rift will be truly healed, Leyon did not know. But now there are wounds to be treated, clothes to be mended, orphans to be fed. These are the tasks at hand and on these he must focus.

"There you go, little Romburr," Leyon said, crouching. "Good as new."

"Gee. Thanks!" replied the young hobbit whose arm had suffered not a few burns after a little accident in the kitchen. He was sitting on a high chair. "I didn't know making biting berry pies could be dangerous. They do bite back, you know."

Leyon laughed. "Do be careful next time. And if you do manage to bake a biting berry pie, I'm sure it would be delicious."

Romburr hopped to his feet. "I'll make sure you get the sixth slice."

"Sixth?"

"Of course! I get the first five slices. Who else did you expect? You should be grateful."

Leyon laughed again. He knew Hobbits loved to humor people. "Of course, of course! We are grateful. I look forward to seeing you again here."

"Minus the burns," Romburr said as he stepped out the doors of the Motherhouse.

Leyon looked around to see how many more patients are needing treatment that brightening. There still was a long line, and it was only morning. Suddenly, a young elf came bursting through the Motherhouse double doors. He was almost breathless.

Enshantell, one of the Servants, met the young elf, carrying a cup of sunflower water in her hands. "Here, please take a seat. Have some water."

The young elf refused the drink. Instead he cried out, "Please! Hurry! Something urgent!" He pointed outside. "Out there, on the hill beyond. Please..."

Enshantell immediately took charge. "Yes, of course. Please take some water." The young elf obliged, not realizing until he drank the cup empty how good the water would be for him.

"Now, I would send word to the Mother Superiour. Leyon, when the young elf is ready to lead--"

"I am!" the young elf interjected.

"Very well," Enshantell continued. "Take two Servants with you and accompany our visitor to the hill he speaks of. I will take charge of the the duties here while you go and see how we can help."

Leyon jumped to his feet. "Of course." He turned to the young elf. "Let's go."

[Dante Asunder]

Dante was checking his gear. His editor had told him about a discovery outside of town near the site of a burnt down windmill. There was a story there and Dante was supposed to discover it. He tucked his dagger into the sheath up his sleeve, put an inkwell and some parchment provided by the paper into a pouch at his belt and headed out the door.

Following his editors instructions, he headed to the city gate. He nodded to the guards and flashed his Id. He then headed for the ruins of the burnt down windmill. He pulled his coat closer to keep out the cold and jogged up to where he could see the burnt foundation of the building. Dante then crouched low checked his breathing and heart rate so that they coinsided, then snuck the rest of the distance in case some undesirables were about.

[Leyon Juddah]

Not soon after, Leyon Juddah, accompanied by the young elf and two other Servants, arrived at the scene. The foot of the hill was cordoned off by several guards.

The young Elf grew increasingly agitated as they neared the foot of the hill. All color drained from his face. "Please! Whatever you do, do not make me go back in there!" he said, his voice trembling.

Leyon was extremely bothered by this behavior. First, the Elf drags them towards outside the city, and now, he wants to take off and leave them there.

"You can't just leave," Leyon said. "What do you know of this hill that has shaken you so?"

"Please," said the young Elf, now sitting on the ground, his face buried in his hands. "Please... no!"

Leyon knew there's not much he can do as far as the young Elf is concerned. "All right, then." He turned to the other Servants. "Please bring our friend back to the Motherhouse and give him some brew to calm him down. Tell Enshantell I am left here and will investigate on my own. If the Mother Superiour has any further instructions, please remember to inform me."

The Servants carried the young elf away. Now Leyon worried if the guards would let him through. Would they recognize his Servant robes as identification and allow him passage? "Only one way to find out," Leyon told himself.

He approached one of the guards. "My name is Leyon Juddah. I represent the Servants from the Benedictus Hospitalitus Motherhouse, servants to the true citizens of Diana. Can you tell me what happened here?"

[Thoth]

The guard looked at Leyon and nodded his head toward him. "The owner was removing the old wind mill and mad an interesting discovery." He indicated to the top of the hill. "If you wait a moment I can fetch him." He turned and motioned to one of the guards. Running up the hill he returned a few minutes later with a gentleman.

Dressed in a well pressed jacket with gold buttons the man stepped down and came towards the young man. The mans hair was pulled back revealing his human heritage.

"Serale Sir. How may I help you?"

None of them noticed Dante hiding near by.

[Leyon Juddah]

Leyon Juddah did not waste time. He introduced himself as a Servant of the Benedictus Servantus Motherhouse. He described to him what had happened, how a young elf came to them this brightening raving about a certain discovery that was made in the hill.

"I hope you do not find me intrusive, Sir, but what is this discovery you have made?" he asked.

[Dante Asunder]

Dante waited in hiding as the young nobleman described the situation. He made careful note in his head of what the youngman was saying. Then Dante took out his quill, an inkwell, and some paper and stood up scribbling notes as he went.

"Serale gentleman, I am a reporter from the Divine News and Gossip, the names Dante." Dante bowed to the noble man and offered his hand to Leyon. "Leyon good to see you again." Dante gave Leyon a smile then turning to the nobleman again, "So my editor told me you had something here you wanted the Divine News and Gossip to see." Dante was curious to see if the young man would tell him something different, being a reporter and all, than he had told Leyon.

[Thoth]

The nobleman nodded his head and smiled at the young man. "Of course." He motioned to the hill. "Behind me is one of the greatest discovers since arcane has been restored after the fractrum." He smiled a eager smile that was only found on the youth of any speicies. "An anciet temple has been found recently."

Him and the guards turned around and were suprised to find a dracon approaching them. The man nodded his head towards the man. "Of course I am glade to see that paper is here." He looked at both of them. "Would you like to see what we have found?"

[Dante Asunder]

Dante nodded his head. "Lead on my lord." Dante followed the group to the ruins taking notes as he went. He made a small sketch of the area to show with a map where the entrance is. "The paper is very grateful that you included us in your discovery."

[Thoth]

the wealthy man smiled toward both of them and then turned back and walked up the hills back towards were several tents had been set up around the locations. "How much do you know about the history of the Church of Faith, the City of Diana and the worship of the gods here?"

[Dante Asunder]

Dante looked somewhat abashed, fortunatly his scales are black so blushing really doesn't show up. "Not as much as I would like, in fact I'm ashamedly ignorant about such things." Dante chanced a glance at Leyon. He knew Leyon was affiliated with the Motherhouse, so he probably knew a great deal.

"I am most willing and curious to find out though." Dante said with a smile.

[Thoth]

The man smiled. "Well then you won't be in for much of a shock. This temple honors all of the gods. Both good and bad."

[Dante Asunder]

Dante was slightly confused, "I thought that temples could only be dedicated to one diety." He was keeping careful notes on what the man was saying as he followed him.
