The Dance of Grace and Death (Private Sirimir)
Brismov Gunderson was a large man who clearly man people think of a fighter when they saw him. He sat next to a large table in the sparing room. It was a simple room with in the tower. A verity of weapons were placed along the walls that could be used for the lessons.
Brismov was sharping weapons as he waited for his most resent student to arrive for his lessons.

Junctior ~ Era XIII

The Persecution of the Orcs
Sirimir, his linen pouch that was swinging at his side considerably lighter after the fee he had just payed, leapt nimbly up the stairs of the Tower of Serenity, his excitement mounting. The fee had just been taken care of for his basic longsword training course with Brismov Gundrson, and he was en route to his first training session.
Glancing down at the sheet of parchment clutched slightly too tightly in his hand, Sirimir finally stopped at a landing with a dull door set into the wall. Triple-checking his directions given to him by the lady at the front desk, he took a deep breath, drew himsef up to his full height, and strode through the door.
Before him sat a gruff-looking man the elf took as Brismov. Thw man was seated at a table, sharpening a sleek longsword.
"Serale, Brismov Gunderson. I am Sirimir, your new student in the dance of grace and death that is called sword-fighting." Sirimir watched steadily as the man slowly raised his gaze from his weapon to meet the elf's.

Brismov looked up at his student and took him in. The man was large standing at 5' 11" most of his build was in the shoulders. The man was wide, but far from fat. He was dressed in simple loss fiting clothing that were still tight enough to prevent gripping. The man stood up and walked around his newest student. "Welcome Sirimir." He said as he sat back bown. "Do you have your own weapon, and have you ever used a weapon any kind before?"

Sirimir suddenly felt grateful for the silver longsword that he had recently purchased from Amerith's Adventuring Supplies in Jaedaxia.
"Yes, I do have a personal weapon; I just recently purchased it. I have never worked with any weapon before, although I do have a dagger."

Sirimir drew his gleaming silver longsword from his sheath with a florish, giving it an experimental twirl through the air. It reflected the light throughout the room majestically, although Brismov did not seem too thrilled. Putting the longsword to rest, he retrieved his dagger with his free hand. It was of embarassingly cheap build and looked as if it couldn't block a single blow without snapping. Sirimir glanced back up at his instructor, awaiting a reaction.

The instructor stood up and pulled a wooden blade off of the wall and tossed it towards his student. "First use that weapon. It really wouldn't be a good idea for us to walk away with cuts at this level." He pulled out a wooden sword for himself as well. "First I want to see your insticts. We will begin with a spare. Swing the sword and get used to its swing and weight. Then let me know when your ready to start."

The elf recieved the wooden sword and gave it an experimental swing also. He had suspected something like this~they wouldn't allow him tyo kill himaself in a tower of serenity. Sirimir continued to twist and twirl with the stick, getting used to its weight and shape, length and width.
After performing a swift slash through thin air, Sirimir returned the faux blade to his side and awaited further instruction.

The master swordsman raised his sword in a slalute, and positioned himself so that he could move quickly on the balls on the feet. He raised his blade so that it was positioned and ready for any incoming attacks. He looked at his student and waited for his student to make the first move.

Now that Brismov had positioned himself, Sirimir thought furiously on how he should approach his first attack. Not wanting to make a fool of himself, he feigned a swipe to the left and quickly reversed the stick to the right.

Brismov face was un readable as he raised his blade to hold off the attack. His teach moved to the right as the blade was swung, but had positioned himself to easily be able to block the incoming attack from the right. He nodded and stepped back once again raising his sword in preperation for another attack.

Sirimir let out a breath of air. This guy was talented. The elf suddenly bent down slightly and swung at Brismov's knees. There would be no way he could block this one...

His instructor danced backwards as his student swung at his feet. The swing also threw Sirimir balance, he stayed on his geet but the weight was pushed a little to far forward, and the responces time back was a little delayed.
His instructor lowered his blade and motioned for his student to do so as well. After his student had followed his instructions he spoke. "What would you say are the primary skills of using the long sword?"

Sirimir gazed down at the stick as the question was posed, concentrating furiously and not wanting to make a fool of himself.
"...Balance," he said as he considered the fight that had just taken place and analyzed Brismov's technique. "Timing...and velocity."

The large human grunted with a nod of head head. "Balance would be the first and foremost skill need when using a any blade. I need you to partice holding your blade at different angles to figure out the what works for you and what each one feels like." He demistrated with his own blade. "Then I need you to pratices the balance you will need to pratics the blance with the blade being held out at different lenghts."

Sirimir spread his feet apart and held the blade vertically. He adjusted his feet, putting the right one slightly in front of the left when he realized that he was off balance. He then cocked the stick so that his hand that was holding it was ositioned at his right hip and the blade angled across his torso. With the help of Brismov, he found balance there too. He looked up and waited for suggestions.
