OOC: Continuation from the Temple of Ioanese

Father Nikolaus walked towards this latest arrival with a raised eyebrow. It was not often that a Dracon came into the Temple of Ioannes. The human walked forward wondering what he could help the new comer with, and hope that no new arguments would emerge from this. Father Nikolaus was a kindly man and was not a confrontationalist. He paused in surprise as the Dracon asked to join with them. Nikolaus was a member of the groups who believed the dark races needed to be watched but that did not prohibit them from redemption, but that was on a personal level not a racial.

He opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted as the bishop came forward. The squat half dwarf moved surprisingly light footed for a dwarf. Even with his silent footsteps though his presences yelled itself before he came within talking range.

Father Nikolaus nodded his head to Bishop. “Please father. I can take care of this.” Bishop Navicci said with a wave of his hand. The Father nodded and turned to a new visitor to the temple of the king of the Gods. “Please follow me.” The Bishop said motioning for his new guest. The bishops shorter steps quickly took them out of the out of the temple and to the gardens of the Temple. “Please tell me what it is about the church of the Sacred Three that makes you willing to come talk with us.” The Bishop said with a direct look. “I am willing to believe any one can be redeemed but that winged tyrant would make life easier for you to be excepted. The church of the Sacred Three on the other hand will test your conversion.”

Dante was slightly surprised by the arrival of the Dwarf. He hadn't had much dealings with dwarves, but he imagined the fellow to be standard for his kind. He kept his head bowed and his claws folded. Given the reaction of this Father Nikolaus to the new arrival, the dwarf must hold some authority over the father.

He remained silent while the priests spoke. When the dwarf asked him to follow he did so. Remaining silent, but looking back and forth as they walked, Dante wondered where they were going. When they walked into the garden Dante found it beautiful especially as the new spring followers were emerging. He breathed deep the aroma, grateful that winter was over and that it would finally be warm again.

When the dwarf stopped and looked at him directly Dante returned his gaze unwaivering.

"That sir, is exactly why I wish to join the Church of the Sacred Three." Dante returned the Dwarf's gaze so that he could read the conviction and honesty in his eyes. "The mere fact that it is easier in the church of the faith makes me question its validity. Without trials how can we prove our loyalty, faith, and love? The goddess helps us through trials, she doesn't remove them altogether otherwise we could never grow."

Dante realized he had been a little over bearing. He apologetically bowed his head and waited for a response.

The half dwarf smiled at the Dracon. "That is true. Aeri is naive and thinks she can just make the world perfect by dictating it." The half dwarf snorted. "I am glade to hear that you are willing to grab life by the honors." He looked at the dracon. "So what makes you want to follow the ways of the church."

Dante thought for a moment. His wings moving slightly as he thought. Dante knew he wanted to serve Diana, that was it. He needed direction and in his opinion Diana was the only one who was worthy to give that direction.

"I wish to serve the Queen of the Gods, nothing more, nothing less. I feel it necessary to employ all my skills in her service." Dante wings expanded slightly as he stood tall. He would be a loyal, humble servant of Diana if given the chance and woe be unto those who dare incur her wrath for he would have no problem being the deliverer of justice upon the heads of all those who deserved it.

The dwarf nodded. "Tell me in what ways you have come to your love of the goddess?"

Dante thought for a moment, to the dwarf it may have almost appeared comical the pensive look on the dracons face. After a moment he looked back at the dwarf. "I love the goddess as a mother for I could turn to her for comfort even in the most trying moments of my life. I love her as a leader for she gives me direction in a way that only increases my love an loyalty for her. I love her as an intermediary for she allowed my race to live even when others would not even giving of herself so that we could have agency to live life as we see fit and not as the paltry thralls of some demon."

Dante's heart quickened, he didn't know why, but he felt as if the goddess herself was looking down on this meeting right now and even better she was smiling approvingly. Dante smiled an honest, open, happy smile then bowing to the dwarf yet again waited for what would happen next.

The dwarven priest was silent for long moments after listening to the dracon speak about his love for the goddess Diana. He had a comtemplative look on his face. Finally he turned to the dracon and asked. "In what way do you feel that you can best serve the goddess?"

As of now my skills lie in the arts of stealth and shapeshifting. I am studying other skills as well, but for the time being I could see myself as a gatherer of information until I feel comfortable enough to start employing my other skills. Dante wasn't trying to sound evasive, but he didn't feel comfortable saying that he could assasinate those who threatened her church.

(ooc: I'm in the middle of dagger training and thaumaturgy and even though both of these skill are timestamped earlier than this thread, technically I still don't have them yet.)

The dwarven Bishop stood next to the dracon for a long moment. "You have some stealth and shape shifitng." The dwarf said as he pondered. Then he contiuned to walk. "Well one of the most important things in serving the goddess would be gaining a knowledge of the Gods. For with out knowledge we are un able to understand the gods."

"I see," Dante replied as he continued to follow along. "If knowledge of the gods is so vital to serving Diana, how would I adquire this knowledge?" Dante kept his head bowed and his hands folded. He kept his ears focused for the approach of others however. He wasn't expecting anything, but it paid to be cautious.

"Well we do offer lessons to teach people about the holy commands of the gods." The dwarf said as they walked. "Another question. Others will question your loyalty and actual commitment, something I think all should be asked, but unfortantly they are not." He looked back. "What would be a way you could prove that to others?"

Dante thought about it for a moment, but it was mostly for show. He knew exactly what he wanted to say before the question was asked. "Ask me to do anything," Dante replied. There was a dark tone in Dante's voice and a steel intensity in his glare. He imagined that the priest would catch the hint. When he said anything, he meant it. There was only one thing that would ever come in the way of Dante's devotion to Diana and that was his devotion to Hitoriana, the elf receptionist from the Tower of Serenity. However, due to the unrelated nature of the devotions, he didn't think that would ever be an issue. If the priest wanted him to scrub the temple toilets he would, if the priest asked him to take a billion classes on diety behavior he would, if the priest asked him to volunteer at the hospital he would, if the priest asked him to go into hell itself and bring back the heart of a Cyraxian he would, and if the priest asked him to begin an inquistion of heretics he would do that too.

The father smiled catching the hind of the dwarf. "That is a little much. I am thinking that something that far wouldn't be required." He paused and tapped his chin. "I will need to think of something but we can get to that latter. Actually helping around the temple, not as a servent but just helping would be a good place to begin."

Dante nodded, "As you say. Simply tell me what you need and I will take care of it."

"It is alright if I maintain my regular job correct?" Dante was actually quite curious as to the level of commitment the dwarf would ask. He would do it, but he hoped someday to marry his love and being an impoverished monk really didn't give you much to offer, but that was a bridge in the future that he would cross when he came to it. No point in worrying about it now.
