Located in the residential district of the Holy city a older home had been converted to a print shop. Diana finally had its first news paper. The buildings was small and simple built of bricks that had been whitewashed to make it look like it was as white as the rest of the marbled city. A large board had been placed next to the front entrance to the building.

The front office was just beyond the main entrance. There was a large desk that dominated the front room. Several editions of the paper were resting on the table ready for visitors to read. A large sign hung behind the desk that gave some announcements of articles as well as general information. In the midst of them was bell.

A young elven woman sat behind the desk. She was clearly a winged elf or one of the the Juive'len elves. She had a gold and silver coloring to both her skin tone and her wings. She looked up and with in an accented voices aked. "Serale. How may I help you."

The current edition of the paper was posted to the board.

TS: Spring of Era I of the Celestine Mandate (current Pattern), Era XIII Post Fractum.

Dante entered the old building refurbished into a print shop. He looked at the winged elf this being his first time seeing one. "Forgive me, but I heard you were constantly on the lookout for new reporters. I was hoping I could get hired on. Mayhaps as a political columnist?"

[Thoth]

The winged Elf looked up from the desk and smiled as Dante. She listened as he expressed an interest. She smiled and stood up. "We are looking for someone to help with out news paper." She just shoock our her wings for a moment as if stretching them like one would a normal arm or leg. "You will need to speak with Sholam Resgrom the editor and Chelonam Resgrom the reporter. Moment while I get them."

She returned a couple minutes. Only on person was following her though. It was a elf who was of the same races as the secratary. He walked forward and nodded towards the dracon. "I understand that you are looking for a job." He waited for a reply. "Please tell me a little about why your interested in the job."

Dante nodded to the new arrival. "The honest truth is I need a job. I think working for this paper would broaden my horizons and in return you would receive the fruits of my labors. I can read and write and I believe that I can find the news that would interest the people of Diana."

Dante got the feeling that this was a formality and with the obvious lack of the second person the receptionist mentioned there was some bias there, probably race. "I will be a loyal employee. Once earned my trust is absolute, besides as a Dracon I can disguise myself enough to get into pretty much any situation." Dante finished with a wink. Hey shape shifting helped you blend in, wasn't that the key to investigative reporting?

Sholam stood looking and listening to the dracon. He didn't really say anything, and really had not oppion on the race. His race originated on Trelore so the petty squabling that was between the Allerian races was just more news to him. He motioned for Dante to follow him. He lead him into an office that farther back in the building. He motioned for him to take a seat.

"I have no objection to you becomeing a reporter. First though you have to prove to Chelonam that you would make a good reporter." Sholasm poured some tea and handed it to Dante. "You have my vote, but you will need to work with Chelonam." He looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Will you find that a problem."

So this was the editor. It only made sense that the reporter would be out gathering news. "Actually sir, quite the contrary. I would view it as a great opportunity to learn from someone more experienced than myself."

Dante was a conundrum he didn't care about other races in that everyone was all the same. Of course he admitted to himself that was mostly due to his thaumaturgy training, before he was as suspicious as nondracons as any other scale brother.

"Incidentally, how much does the postion pay? Do we get some sort of badge to allow us access to any special events? What deadlines are there that we must meet? Is there any specific subject matter that you would like covered?"

Dante had a million questions, hopefully that was a good thing for reporters to have, but he decided to slow down and let Shalom answer some before rolling out the rest of the list.

Sholam looked over at Dante. “You are full of questions. Excellent quality for a reporter.” The editor began to drink some of his tea. “Salary. For starters you would be paid 30 crowns a cycle, and that would go up as you prove your worth.” He continued to sip the tea. His vibrant colored green gold eyes said looking into the tea. “I am sorry we don’t have any special pass. Most people really don’t care about reporters until they read the paper.”

At that time a third member of the winger race walked into the room. Her colors were quieter then the other two. Her coloring was blues and greens verse the gold and silver of the others. She looked at the two of them.

“So this is our newest recruit.” It wasn’t really much of a question. “Well it’s a pleasure to meet you.” She stood in the door as a another cup of tea was pour and handed to her. “So he is still here so it appears that you like him.” She said ignoring Dante for the moment. Then looked at the Dracon. “So what makes you want to be a reporter.”

IC: Dante acknowledged the answers with slight nods of his head. "That sounds reasonable. No pass huh? Do we have access to most events or are we 'censored'? Also how close to the line of irritating government officials do you want me to tread?"

Dante looked up at the new face. "This had to be the reporter," he thought to himself. Raising and eyebrow Dante asked her, "The pleasure is mine, and you are?"

He wanted to make a good impression, but afterall did he need to be interviewed by everyone in the building? "I feel the public needs to be made aware of what's going on and I feel I am qualified to do just that."

[Thoth]

The woman nodded her head towards Dante. “I am Chelonam Resgrom.” She said as she looked at her husband the editor. He sipped at his tea and returned to answering Dante’s questions. “Some times we are censored but we haven’t been lately. The provincial government is a little chaotic right now so it keeps them off our backs.” He sipped his tea for a moment longer.

“We like you to gathering information, but we prefer it if you don’t get yourself arrested.” The new woman said in response to his question. She then listened to his response. “Well you are confident that is for sure.” She said more to her husband then to Dante. “What makes you think your qualified?” She wasn’t being negative, Dante jus realized that she was just blunt.

Dante thought for a moment. He felt that he was qualified, but he wasn't sure that would be enough for these people.

Pondering for a moment, he looked Chelanom square in the eye. "I am humble enough to learn. I can read and write, that's the easy part, but more importantly I am willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Once hired I won't quit until ... I have the story."

Dante's ultimate goal wasn't to be a reporter, but there was no reason to tell these people that. Besides being a reporter could be a good cover considering his career goals.

The two winged elves looked at each nodding there heads towards each other. "Okay. That works for us. Lets show you around." The reporter said as the man turned his attention back towards paper work on his desk. She motioned for the dracon to follow her.

She showed him around indicating to the press and the offices. She paused as she showed Dante a small room with a desk and chair. "This will your desk. Your supplies will be provided, well paper, ink and quills."

Dante excitedly looked around. He was thrilled he got the chance to prove himself.

Dante followed his guide through the paper grinning and taking it all in. When he reached his desk, he was ready to get started.

"That will be fine," Dante replied. He waited a few moments in case his guide had anything else to add. "So what do you want me to start on?"

Regent Rules in Favor of Faith

Summer of XIII post Fractrum Ioannese first brightening, the first era of the Regency of Milo L’Evienne.

The Herald recently announced the regent’s decision regarding the conflict between the Church of Faith and the Church of the Sacred Three. After one and a half eras, the leadership of the Great Allerian Empire, with careful examination of the law, ruled that the Church of the Sacred Three has no recognized right to exist and that any affirmation of this church being the church of the empire is treasonous.

In the Regents wisdom, no doubt influenced by the gods, rather than attempting to enforce the typical punishment for treason, death, the regency seems determined to resolve this conflict through resolution of differences amongst the two churches. This decision will see profound and wide spread reactions through out the empire.

After attending a recent gathering in Diana of the faithful of the Sacred Three it would seems that their leadership has acquiesced to the regent’s decision and will shortly travel to Alleria Prime to meet with the regent. One thing that concerns this reporter was the large group of Faith follower's that seemed to be insistent on cajoling the followers of the Sacred Three. It came to the point where legionnaires have been dispatched to keep the peace. To remind the faithful of the three it is in their best interest to avoid being pressured into unruly or unlawful action especially during the discussion regarding the reconciliation.

Truthfully, just from a citizen of Diana's point of view I feel this will be best for our empire as a whole. With the church once again reunited, more progress can be made in converting the lost back to the worship of the true gods. To clarify I only refer to the worship of deities that the law has deemed unlawful and do not wish to offend worshipers of Carmeyla, etc.

After the tough era Diana has had, with the ill omen of our namesakes statue crumbling and the burning of the Dracon District to name a few, it would seem a positive step forward for these two churches to reunite once again. Hopefully the leadership of the Church of Faith will come up with a contingency plan to keep anything like this from happening again.

Until this conflict is resolved however the church of the Sacred Three has no recognized power to tithe its followers, proselyte, or have an inquisition or even a military following. With this in mind I pray that this issue is resolved soon. Attached to the bottom of this article is a copy of the regent’s proclamation:

A PROCLAMATION

Be it proclaimed that on the 50th brightening of Optia, Era XIII Post Fractum:

WHEREAS the Regent, invested with the Power of Imperium by the will of Gods through the Aethercrown and holding all powers and privileges of said office in accordance with the Articles of Imperium is thus also the Defender of the Faith; and,

WHEREAS the Church of Faith continues to be recognized as the one and only true Church of the Empire; and,

WHEREAS the Church of the Sacred Three, headed by Praesul Prelatus Jodus, established without the Imperial recognition of Empress Audrey de Lylles or Empress Arabella de Lylles, strives to exist with the claim of being the true Church of the Empire; therefore,

BE IT PROCLAIMED that the establishment of the Church of the Sacred Three in the month of Ponutis, Era XII was an act of treason against the Empire; and,

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that we hereby derecognize any authority assumed by the Church of the Sacred Three to coerce citizens to worship according to its doctrine; or to collect tithes from citizens of the Empire; or to maintain an inquisition or body of armed guards; or to use Church law in passing judgment on citizens; and,

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that in recognizing that the actions of the Church of the Sacred Three were due to a misplaced belief that they were acting in the service of the Sacred Three, we command the presence of Praesul Prelatus Jodus at the Imperial Palace, Alleria Prime, in the second cycle of Ioannes, to hear his justification for attempting to establish a new Church and to seek a reconciliation between the true Church and those who have strayed from the true Faith; and,

BE IT FINALLY PROCLAIMED that it is Our Imperial Will that no movement is made to dislodge the Church of the Sacred Three from Temples already occupied within the Provinces until the consequences of this meeting are made known, unless further dissent and sedition occurs from the Church of the Sacred Three occurs during this time. Reconciliation and Unity through peaceful negotiation is the aim, but further dissention will not be tolerated.

Sholam sat reading the article occasionally fanning his wings. A habit that Dante was notices was a part of the winged elf. His brightly colored eyes looked up and down the article looking for mistakes in the article. It only took a little time before he handed the article back over to Dante. "Check your spelling once again. Other then that it looks good and we can publish it for tomorrow."

Dante nodded, smiling appreciatively, "sounds good."

Dante stood for a moment, "So what would you like me to work on next?"

He scratched the back of his hand nervously.
