Paladin Training(Gerard)

[Prophet]

There was a large courtyard behind the barracks. There were many veteran Paladins and students alike training. Some were meditating, some were dueling. Paladins of all shapes and sizes were training together. As you wake up the next day, you find a large Paladin waiting outside your door. The large Paladin had full plate body armor that seemed to glow as he stood there. The other person wore light leather armor and seemed to be a student. The Paladin said in a booming voice, "I shall be your instructor. Now, put this leather armor on and we will begin right away." He hands you leather armor and waits for your reply.

[Gerard Ridefort]

Gerard took the offered armour without question, and quickly dressed himself, the leather stretching uncomfortably over his frame, although he made no word of complaint, for the faithful must overcome hardship to find the grace of the gods. Gerard was a tall man and their was a sense of strength about him, although his body was not over muscled. His leather armour fitted well with the simple peasent fatigues that were all he owned, and anything too ostentatious would be frowned upon by Gerard, who found pride in ones appearance a grievous sin. To this end his thick black hair had a tangled and uncouth look, and a thick beard adorned his chin, for Gerard never shaved.

"Well brother, I am prepared for my training. I pray that Maj shall watch over me, and welcome me into the service of the gods."

[Prophet]

"Yes, we shall see. Please come with me" says the Paladin. He then says as he's walking to the courtyard, "There will be a choice between longsword and broadsword that you must make now. You must be prepared to master this weapon. It is very difficult to change, to change is like to start all over again so you must choose carefully. It will be a life-altering decision." He finally leads you to a rack of longswords and broadswords. All were in equally good condition and all seemed to be flawless. They were just waiting there, waiting for some disciple to use them. The Paladin waits for you to make your pick.

[Gerard Ridefort]

Gerard stood in front of the weapons, gazing at them one by one, unsure of which to take. As a humble man he had little esperience of weaponry, the implements of a farmer were items he was more used to wielding, his life in the village had never saw him need to take up the blade, but no he was to press himself into the service of the church. He didnt know which to take, he had no idea which weapon would suit him best, and the worry was in his mind that if he made the incorrect choice, he would not be able to serve the gods as fully as possible. Then inspiration hit him, and he started to speak.

"Mighty Maj, weilder of the blade that struck down thrice damned Jorel into the black pit, guide my hand with your heavenly might, your divine certainty. Lead me on the first steps of the path of righteousness."

With that, Gerard shut his eyes tight, and brushed his hands along the blades on the rack, feeling their handles and lightly touching the blades. Then he gave a start and pulled his finger to his mouth, sucking on it lightly.

"The blade.....cut my finger. I have made my choice brother."

The blade of a plain, non descript longsword was now marked out by a tiny drop of blood.

[Prophet]

The Paladin stood there quietly as you slowly chose your weapon. He looks at you as you take the longsword. He says, "Good. That is a fine blade. I myself use a longsword and they will serve you well. You will begin training now. Position your feet one behind the other and hold the sword in your strong hand infront of your body. Hold it upright, but slightly tilted. Then let me examine you to see how your stance is." He then waits for you to prepare yourself.
