Daltina Constabulary

The Constabulary of Daltina was a complex of several large, grey stone buildings directly to the west of the Aurora Palace. It was surrounded by a low wall, and had been built so that no citizen could access the grounds of the complex without passing through the main office first. As such, the offices had been built directly into the wall, and the door was mostly always guarded by one or two members of the Constabulary itself.

The Constabulary contained many things that were crucial to the keeping of the peace in the city. It housed the office of the Constable himself, and his underlings, as well as the barracks and headquarters of the city guard that operated under the Constable. Not only that, it contained training grounds and facilities in order to hone the skills of the guard, as well as a stable complex, and of course, the ever important gaol of Daltina.

People were let through into the main lobby of the office building after being checked over by the guards stationed outside, and once they had left any weapons with the two guardsmen, armed civilians not being allowed on the premises.

Once through the heavy oak door of the building, visitors would find themselves in a small, lobby-like area that acted as a guide and hub for the rest of the building. Corridors led to the left and right, and a door had been hung in the centre of the back wall. The room was simply and almost sparsely furnished, with the walls bare apart from to purple standards displaying the arms of Enamoria, a decoration that was present in all of Daltina's public offices. A couple of plain wooden chairs of oak had been pushed against the walls for waiting visitors, and a small desk of the same wood had been placed in the centre of the room, behind which sat whichever guardsman was currently on desk duty. Usually, it was one Bjorn Slateblade, a quiet and slightly shy dwarf who often had problems saying no and was lumped with playing secretary on most occasions. Whenever someone entered he would look up from his paperwork and give them a business-like nods.

"Serale. Are you lookin' for something specific? Is there anythin' I kin help you with?"

NPCs

Bjorn Slateblade - Bjorn is the son of Greta Slateblade, though he inhabits non of her traits, apart from the physical ones. He inherited his mother's rather dull brown hair and eye colours. He is often quiet and rather pensive, shy and dislikes getting on the bad side of people. His dwarven temper flairs up rarely, and he has to be pushed to the limit for it to show. He is industrious, a hard worker, quite softly spoken with only a hint of a dwarven accent, one other thing inherited from his mother, who insisted that the dwarven twang had no place in upper society and has tried repeatedly to beat it out of all the families members, including herself, though with little success. He is single, and still lives in the family home in Dargistown.

Thalia Timandre is an upstanding Citizen
Timestamp: Morning, 5th Brightening of Aperitus, Summer of Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum.

The sparsely decorated lobby-like area truly bored Thalia. There was nothing spectacular in this building that was worthy of her attention, save perhaps for the dwarven desk clerk who - oddly enough - did not sound too much like a dwarf at all. The Constabulary seemed to be crammed with people today; some had an interesting smell about them that greatly offended her nose. Waiting for about half an hour, seated on an uncomfortable wooden chair, no less, sullied her mood even more.

She arrived at the Constabulary with Sir Boran a day after the letter was sent to the Timandre townhouse, excited to hear about the development. It’s been a few months already since the attack on the Timandre Household, yet she could still remember the event too clearly; the smell of blood, the rush of adrenaline, and the feeling of powerlessness. Just thinking about it never failed sent a chill down her spine.

The young lady had been quietly trying to look for clues with the help of her father, in her determination to unveil who these black-clad assassins worked for. So far, their investigation had rewarded them no credible lead. The only clue that the assassins had left behind was a long knife of elven make, with a crafted wolf’s head as its pommel.

Finally, it was her turn to speak with the clerk. She approached Bjorn Slateblade, relief apparent on her face. “A blissful day to you, sir dwarf. My name is Thalia Timandre, and that big man standing over there is my bodyguard. I have been summoned by the Constable Rike Dharnan and I am here to answer it. Would you be so kind as to direct me to him?”
