The Bearded Lady
There was a house in old Dargistown, they called The Bearded Lady. Despite the nature of what went on inside its walls, it was considered a respectable, down-to-earth place, a great tradition that was upholding the ways of city life, providing employment, keeping people of the streets, and generally making the world a better place.
In short, it was a brothel.
It was situated on the southern side of the sector of the city, not too far from the docks, as was traditional for most houses of affection in a port town, despite the fact the dwarves were not known for their love of water. It was situated on a short street whose establishments mainly consisted of things to buy and rent, such as women and beer. The establishment itself was quite large, and made of the grey stone that the lower class houses of Daltina favoured. A sign waved to and fro on its hangings outside the front door, depicting a portrait of a dwarven lady wearing nothing but her own beard. The door was closed, in order to keep out draft, but a simple push would allow someone to enter. The building was two storeys tall, and naturally, due to the vertical impediment sported by its clientèle, the entry way was only approximately five and a half feet tall.
Once inside the discerning client was presented with an air of the well-do-to, lush carpet on the floor in the colour of royal maroon, and tapestries on the wall, embroidered, with among other colours, thread of gold, illustrated all kinds of things that a man and a woman could do to stave off boredom in a very tasteful manner. The room itself was small, it was merely the entryway to other delights, and a few doors succeeded. Through the gap in one that was slightly open, a sensual display of the feather dance by a dwarf with a lusciously long beard for a small, private audience could be seen. But, that was not all that the Bearded Lady offered.
A small podium was situated in the right hand corner of the foyer, an employee of the Bearded Lady standing behind it waiting to greet customers. She had a lovely, cascading auburn coloured beard that had been brushed and braided with beads, matching the style of her hair. Her clothes consisted of a rather skimpy chain mail and leather number that would get any red-blooded dwarf's heart pumping, and that was before she gave an alluring smile.
"Serale there. Welcome to the Bearded Lady, be there somethin' I can... help ye out with?"
