The Gem Cutter League

Within the Grand District lies the Jewel Crafters’ Guild Hall, a large building composed of marble stone polished to a shine so sharp that passersby squint when they gaze upon this guild hall. The windows were large enough to see into the building and allow light to shine into the rooms, illuminating the many jewels and gems inside to startling clarity.

The first room past the wooden front door was a small room designed solely for coming and going. No desk or attendant waited there, although many people could be found rushing back and forth through this area. There were two doors on either side of the wall, both leading to separate enclosed areas.

The door to the right led to an area where the actual jewel crafting took place. There were numerous workstations at the front of this room, with several supplies of ore and other materials near the back. Another door could be found at the end of this room, and through that door was a forge used solely for perfecting the gems and jewelry that were made here.

The door to the left led to a room filled with cutting wheels, chisels, hammers, polishing stones, brushes, gauges of firewick, soldering levers, and other tools used in jewel crafting. More workstations were here, normally filled with students attempting to learn their craft. Beyond this room was a locked vault, filled with the treasures that guild members created before they were shipped out to fill orders.

Upon entering, if a person asked around he or she would eventually learn that the one to talk to for membership was Guildmaster Itosuke Kabawachi. Once found, the guildmaster would appraise the newcomer and eventually nod.

“You are here for membership, then?” If not, he would further inquire as to why the newcomer visited him that brightening.

NPCs

Itosuke Kabawachi – Male, Kemite, 44 patterns old, Expert Jewel Crafting. Guildmaster Itosuke Kabawachi has olive skin, short close-cropped black hair, and hazel eyes that glitter whenever he contemplates about his craft. He wears simple clothes in plain, natural tones that he would not mind getting dirty, as often happens when he works with the forge. He is soft-spoken but immediately demands respect of those he speaks to.

Al’telai L’eilier – Female, Medonian Elf, 27 patterns old, Beginner Jewel Crafting. Al’telai L’eilier has long auburn hair that she keeps tied tightly back and sharp green eyes that seem to pierce into whoever she is currently looking at. She normally wears a simple pair of black slacks and a tight light-colored blouse. Al’telai L’eilier is a student completely focused on attaining the level of expert in jewel crafting. She does not have time to socialize with the others members of the guild, and she is often found alone long into the night working on her latest masterpiece.
