House of Paramnesiacs

In a white-washed two-story building near the heart of the Royal Concourse stands the House of Paramnesiacs. The building is relatively new, having been built solely for the amusement of the moneyed nobles who often frequent this area to relieve their boredom. It stands on the corner of a busy street, easily available to anyone who wishes to go inside and discover a more mystical way of being entertained.

The large wooden, intricately-carved door opens into a spacious room whose walls are covered with cloth pinned up and arranged in patterns along the walls. There are several tall candlesticks standing in regular intervals along the walls, about a foot away from the wall. Each one has a different colored candle lit up, giving the room an eerie, flickering light. At the far end of this room is a small desk with a woman sitting behind it, smiling lazily at whoever enters.

“Serale. How would you like to amuse yourself today?” The woman’s eyes sparkle at the question, as if knowing that any answer will be entertaining.

If the patron chooses something that requires entrance to a private room, she or he will enter one of many similar rooms on the second floor. Every room has a table and several comfortable chairs surrounding it. The walls are covered with either paintings, cloth patterns, or a mixture of both. Candles are the only light in both the rooms and the hallways, although they may be blown out by the mysticists there for effect. Some rooms have crystal balls in them, others have mirrors, others contain objects that seem to have no discernable purpose, and some rooms are completely empty. Whichever amusement the patron chooses, she or he will be led to the appropriate room in a matter of minutes, most likely being offered a drink on the way there.

NPCs

Halie Grinlai – Female, Vagaran, 29 patterns old, Journeyman Mysticist. Halie has sleek blonde hair that runs to half-way down her back and clear green eyes. She normally wears a form-fitting dress that is made of black cotton with a brightly-colored vest over that. She is very patient and willing to work hard for whatever she wants. She is in charge of the mind warp, mental inhibitor, and forced regression patrons that come in. She is always friendly and willing to do what is necessary to please the client, and so she is often the one seen running around with drinks and advice.

Brintos Feal – Male, Medonian, 31 patterns old, Journeyman Mysticist. Brintos has shaggy brown hair that seems untamable even after being thoroughly brushed. He has light gray eyes and a smile that seems worn around the edges. He wears a pair of worn-in brown trousers and a dark blue long-sleeve shirt. He considers himself the shop’s owner, although technically each worker has an equal say in every matter. He is in charge of every patron coming in for a temporary mental state, out-of-body experience, or astral communication. Brintos is extremely business-like with the patrons, only becoming more mysterious when the session begins in order to maintain the feel of the session.
