[Grand] A Tour of the Town

Business required knowledge. And that knowledge, as was often said, was power. The thelyri was no stranger to such things, not anymore at the least, and he would be devoting today and other days to discovering more about this city he was going to do business in. One of the largest forces, both political and economic, within the city, were the nobles. Admittedly, he had only a sketchy and basic knowledge of them and on them, and this was his plan to try and get to know more.

"Let's see...where to begin." He found himself wandering about the Grand District, checking out the many townhouses and manors of the nobles who had residences within the city. He'd stop to admire the architecture of particularly aesthetic locations of course, but his main purpose was basically to get a feel of the district and to be able to plot it out reasonably well on paper.

His second, and possibly more important goal, was to get to know the various workers within the district. The people who served the nobles often were unnoticed, but yet, the thelyri had often fought beside the commoner with just as often had the same or more courage and ability than a nobleman. He had roamed the Empire as a 'commoner', though a well-off one by most standards, he knew who the foundations of the Empire rested on.

And thusly, he began his 'tour' of the Grand District.

The Grand District was a beautiful part of the city to say the least. It was filled with the townhouses and estates of the nobles around Daltina and those establishments were all aesthetically pleasing. As if some great artist had journeyed to Daltina and planned every aspect of the district, including individual buildings and where each noble was situated.

The thelyri began his exploration at the entrance to the Grand District which was from a stone archway set within a high stone wall covered in well taken care of growth. It was a busy district for the simple reason that all of the servants who worked for the nobles were constantly moving around; going to the markets, fetching something, parking carriages, gossiping, taking messages to other nobles. And then there were the nobles who moved about, much slower and in more style; most with bodyguards, especially given the recent noble murders plaguing the city.

There were a plethora of noble townhouses in this part of the district that Mizushin could move toward; ten in all, and each differing in style and workmanship, though all fit in perfectly with the atmosphere of the Grand.

The thelyri suppressed a small grin as he observed the traffic moving in and about the area. He took note especially of the servants, what they were bringing, what they seemed to be working on, and where they went. Besides that of course, he also took note of the various guards escorting the nobles as they traveled here and there. He'd have two goals in mind today: to ascertain what sort of guards were protecting whom, and the same for the servants.

After he'd observed their comings and goings for awhile, the thelyri took himself into the district and began to look up the two closest townhouses in the district from where he was. He took a deliberately slow pace as he examined the two that were across from each other. Let's see, what do we have here?, he thought.
