[The Crown] Palacrisis and J’lyara are hiring. [ Attention all Newbies!~ Open]

The Eleventh of Cryaxtum ~ Era XIV~ [Late afternoon]

His lordship Palacrisis D Jones Governor of the Sultanate of Arakmat and the lady J’lyara D Jones walked through the doors of the Crown Inn and Tavern accompanied by four street urchins who were loaded down with shopping bags.

Pala as he was known as, tinged the bell on the reception desk and spoke with the receptionist whose name plate told him that this was Alissa Farahsdaughter.

My wife and I would like a suite for a few brightenings , we have some shopping to do and The Crown has always been a favourite of ours.

After signing the register with a flourish he distributed gold crowns to the urchins who left the shopping bags at their feet with little attention to the fact that they might contain items of value.

Palacrisis grinned at J’lyara as the receptionist fussed over the final details of registration and finding the keys to their suite. I really do not know what the city is coming to one simply cannot get the help these days!

Shopping was not the only reason for booking into the Crown, Pala and J’lyara had talked the previous night and decided that their trip to Aelyria Prime should also be used as an opportunity to hire some newcomers to the city. They needed some people to manage their interests in Taralon namely the Black River Tobacco Company and J’lyara’s project the theatre so aspiring actors and actresses might well find a chance to start their careers in Sherian province. Pala was also mindful that there was a need for government officials in the west of the empire so any one who had an ambition towards politics and public service could apply to him directly.

Pala smiled again at the receptionist and beckoned her forward “Alissa would you do the governor of Arakmat a small favour? We shall be dining here this darkening and should any newcomers wander in looking as though they need employment would you ask the staff to direct them to our table?

As is always the case in these matters gold crowns slipped across the desk and the receptionist nodded. A few moments later the couple were being ushered into a pleasant suite and the door could close behind them.

Pala took his wife into his arms and gave her a hug before smoothing the flame red locks from her face and asking.

Well my darling that’s over and all sorted out , Milo was magnificent so lets start our life again right this moment.

J'lyara is an upstanding Citizen
So much time had passed since she'd last been inside The Crown. During the brief time she'd lived at at the famous Inn, she'd been not long out of her parent's home and ready to take on the world, just before she'd met the young assassin who had stolen her heart and later broken it. It seemed with her efforts to remember, all sorts of memories were resurfacing, some of them more pleasant than others. J'lyara found she enjoyed walking into the Crown on her husband's arm. She was no longer that same young, wide-eyed girl, wishing for things beyond her reach. No, now most anything she could want was well within her reach were she but to try. And even moreso she was in a position to be able to offer another young person a hand up in the Empire. And this because of the man standing tall at her side, her small hand tucked safely in his larger one.

Their time inside their suite was spent in intimate conversation with her sitting comfortably on his lap as he sat back against the headboard of the large bed they would share later that darkening. They talked of their plans to hire people who could handle things in Taralon in their absence. Their last foreman for The Black River Tobacco Company had been a sore disappointment and J'lyara, now remembering all the work there was to be done in Taralon, was eager to find a replacement as well as hire a new Overseer. The suns had gone down by the time they finished talking and idly fondling one another, such that they realized it was time for pracenda.

“I am extraordinarily hungry. But wait...there should be some parchment here somewhere...,” she said, as she opened drawers and found the parchment she was looking for along with ink and a quill.

J'lyara spent the next several minutes composing a flyer in a legible, flowing script that they could post up as there was a good chance they wouldn't find their new foreman or Overseer while still in the city. She was hopeful, but realistic and thought it best to leave a way to contact them should the right person suddenly have need of presenting his or herself for employment.

Secrets :
THE BLACK RIVER TOBACCO COMPANY HIRING

Will be required to travel between the tobacco plantation and the cigar shop inside the City, overseeing both operations. Salary commiserate with experience.

Foreman - Must be good with working under pressure and with deadlines. Capable of inspiring a crew of workers to get a job accomplished in the least amount of time possible. Responsible for hiring workers capable of manning the tobacco farm, getting the crops planted on time and harvested to be sent off for processing and packaging. Salary commiserate with experience.

Workers - Always hiring motivated workers to plant and harvest tobacco. No experience required!

Please send inquiries to His Excellency Palacrisis D'Jones and Lady J'lyara D'Jones, care of the office of the Governor of Arakmat.

They arrived inside the dining room of the The Crown Tavern just before the candlemark for a proper pracenda and after handing the flyer to the helpful girl at the reception desk asking that it be hung up in the appropriate place, they were gratefully shown to their table.

Her large hazel eyes were casually scanning the room full to bustling with visitors to the City of Prime and citizens alike. No one had caught her eye just yet and as she pondered what was on the menu, she looked up at her husband and smiled softly, “Do you already know what you'd like my love? I think I might be inclined to have you order for me. You may know what I like even better than I can recall at the moment.”

Her tone was playful as an affectionate gaze washed over his face.

The late afternoon had passed in conversation curled up together in the rooms that the “Crown” had provided. They had much to discuss and the candlemarks flew by as slowly they worked through their various projects that had lain dormant.

Pala explained “When you went away and there was no word I must confess I lost interest in Taralon. It was only when that crate of clothes appeared and the letter you had written finally came to light did I remember the Black River Tobacco Company. Kallick was interested in doing something on his own so I sent him down there and by all accounts he is turning into a half decent business man. I want to slip down to Taralon for a few brightenings and look over the estate and have a word with the governor as well but my love my timetable is by necessity very sparse. I have to be back in Arakmat in about ten brightenings time. I have arranged to visit with Sultan Rafiq Al-Hakkar accompanied by a Dorin who goes by the name of Godah.”

“It is my intention to move the capital of the province back to Arakmat and as governor I intend to take over the palace in Arakmat city. J’lyara”
and he took her hand “It would give me great pleasure if you would accompany me on this diplomatic mission. The sultan has suffered several blows to his personal dignity, being sacked from his position and having the capital moved he is bound to be sensitive and proud. It is vital that I gain his support and that of the men who are still loyal to him so a beautiful intelligent woman by my side would help.”

He grinned It might also be a wonderful opportunity to see exactly what the current fashion styles might be amongst the ladies of the palace which according to rumour are somewhat diaphanous and leave little to the imagination!

Walking arm in arm with his wife into the grand dining room of the “Crown” made Pala a very proud man every head turned to admire his gorgeous girl.

Seated at their table he nodded very well it shall be as you desire and with a swift perusal of the menu he ordered

Quote:
Zimmers Delicate Wave for two diners a dish of assorted fresh fish, mussels, and crab meat poached in white wine, chilled and marinated in olive oil, lemon juice, served with a fresh salad, and a fresh sliced toasted roll, heaped with butter

The Crown Inn and Tavern's Signature Chicken being freshly boned Breast of Chicken poached in White Wine, Butter and seasonings served with Mushrooms and a Cream sauce for J’lyara and for himself Finalish Lamb Herb-crusted lamb loin roasted over an open flame, with Narish potatoes, fresh mint relish and a small fresh salad.

The whole meal was accompanied by two bottles of wine the chilled white Carmelya's Ecstacy Champagne and a half bottle of Paxian Red to wash down the lamb. Desert could wait for a little later!

Digging a fork into the delicate fish starter and chewing appreciatively Pala spoke quietly

when we were with Milo I noticed some puzzlement in your eyes about me and Arakmat

…he laid the fork down and sipped some champagne …

“When I returned from looking for you much had changed. Milo had instigated a cabinet style government with ministries. The special place that the Imperial Consuls filled had been watered down by this new governmental set up and frankly my role was more of a sinecure. The distress and pain I suffered from your being missing had to be repaired and there was a need for new governors. Milo and I discussed all this face to face and the up shot was I was offered Sheria or Arakmat. Sheria contained too many memories of you so I chose the most difficult assignment of my life Arakmat! Resigned as an Imperial Consul and packed up and shipped to the far west of the empire.”

“There I found a province that barely deserved the name, it is simply a collection of barely civil city fiefdoms. It is impoverished and run down and frankly has not had good government for era’s. Imperia is a cesspit of vice corruption and crime, Silrosia is the beautiful home of the elves who have turned their backs on the province and Arakmat is a beaten city that is still recovering from a devastating hurricane.”

“We have Katta’s and Dorins in an unceasing mutual loathing in some of the smaller cities like Zenith and Nadir and the centre of the province is a burning waste of shifting sands and wild desert tribesmen who owe loyalty to the tribe and clan above everything.

He chuckled and bubbles of champagne flew up his nose. This my love is what I am offering you but oh J’lyara it is beautiful, the desert at night is a magical carpet of stars, Silrosia is a marvel and the sultans palace is a wonder of the empire. There are massive problems but I love it !
