A New Friend (I Hope)
Without any preamble, Kilan wandered into the Crown Inn. He was here to meet the Elf he had insulted by calling her a pointy-eared Human. He went to the bar and collected a mug of tea. Kilan was unable to drink alcohol, as it got him too drunk too easily. After getting his drink, he settled down at an empty table and stared into the depths of his mug, wondering what he was going to do next with his life. After all, wandering into strange people’s houses and almost getting spitted on swords was interesting, but in the long run, it might be bad for his career… With a sigh, he raised the mug to his bony lips and took a sip, wondering if he was bad luck. Should he just leave before the girl showed up? It might not be too late to let his bad luck wear off on her...

Alicia Gil'dae had found her encounter with the Dracon rather.. strange, if truth was told. She could not imagine a society where walking into someones dwelling was acceptable, but still, she was always prepared to give someone a second chance and so Alicia made her way to the Crown Inn and Tavern.
She was much more comfortable with this, as not only did it mean that it was a public place, but also that she could be sure that her children were nowhere near since she did not know this strange man that she was meeting.
Still, the elven woman walked in and looked around and then her gaze landed on the Dracon that she was here to meet and she smiled and walked over. She did not wear her sword, but two paces behind her was her bodyguard, who Kilan'tos had met, and who had spent the journey here telling Alicia what a bad idea he thought this was.
She walked up to the Dracon and smiled Serale she said, quietly, her smile in stark contrast to the dour expression worn by her bodyguard It's good to see you again. Can I get you a drink?

Kilan was lost in thought, staring into his mug of water as he thought about where life had left him. He had just finished draining his mug and was thinking of calling for another when he spotted the Elf girl entering. He got up from his seat as she approached, and pulled out her seat for her. This was done rather awkwardly, sinse the chair was as tall as Kilan himself. Still, he was able to pull it out, but he pointedly made sure the girl's bodyguard could pull his own chair out. He then settled back into his chair and raised his empty mug. "Thank you, no. I can't drink alcohol. It makes me drunk too fast. So I'm sticking with water. Can I buy you anything? Or how about your man?" he asked, pointing at the guard. "Would he like anything to drink?"

Alicia grinned at her bodyguard as Kilan referred to him as her "man". Well, he's my bodyguard and hes on duty, so no thank you. And as for myself well a fruit juice would be nice. Thank you
She smiled and sat on the chair and looked at Kilan with a friendly smile So, are you new to Prime? I assume so since you had not seen an elf before, anyway. If it is not too rude to ask, where *are* you from?
It must be a strange place, very sheltered, Alicia considered, since she had never met anyone who did not know what elves were before. She wondered how far away it was and whether she should visit it some time.

"Fruit juice it is," said the Dracon as he waved over a server. After placing an order for the juice and another mug of water, he grinned at the armed man. There was just something about the fellow he liked to tease the guy for, but if only he could put a claw on it… Ah, well, it was fun, anyway. Still, business came before pleasure. Turning back to the Elf girl, he shrugged. "I'm new to Prime, yes. Actually, when I met you was my second day in the city. I'm hoping to become an inventor and tinker. But one of my… 'experiments' caused damage in my village, and my father decided it would be best if I went to seek my fortune elsewhere. So, with a gentle prod with his sword, he sent me on my way with a kind word and the idea that if I show my face there again, he'll rip it off with his teeth. He's a councilman, don't you know. So, I went to Tearsfall, and from there to here. Say, you wanna visit sometime? We're not a big village, but the people are OK…"

A prod with his sword? Sounds emphatic Alicia said with a slight grin. She smiled gently at the Dracon and as he invited her to his home she raised one eyebrow Well, tempted as I am, if you've never seen an elf before I'm assuming neither have most of your kinsfolk. That being the case, since they respond with swords to things they dont like or know, it seems, I might just give it a miss
In truth, Alicia wondered how there could be people who did not know what elves were, but then, she assumed that there were still backwaters in Telath, although she frankly had no wish to visit one.
So, a tinker, eh? That's an unusual occupation. What sort of things do you invent? What have you invented so far? she asked, comfortably. If there was one thing that Alicia Gil'dae could do, it was talk.

Here it was… this conversation was almost word-for-word like the one with Megan. With a slight smile, he remembered the crime boss who had literally bumped into him, only to have the short Dracon latch onto her legs in a death grip. She, too, had been interested in what he had invented, and with a deep breath, Kilan prepared himself for a long-winded speech. If there was one thing Kilan was good for, it was speaking. "Nothing impressive, I'm afraid… I'm still going through training. Right now, I'm looking for a locksmith to give me training, so I can do clockwork items and other small things. After that, I need to look into blacksmithing, alchemy, carpentry, and other things. Still, I got plenty of ideas, if you're willing to hear about them…" He was prepared to tell the Elf everything he was ready to make, but he found out the hard way that if they didn't want to hear, it was best not to force them to.

ooc: so sorry - slipped off my subscribed threads! sorry sorry!!
Alicia smiled slightly, and nodded Well it certainly sounds interesting. I would love to hear your ideas she said with a smile I must admit to being fascinated by people who can invent. I'm afraid I have no originality in my own list of talents, and I am deeply envious of anyone who does have. Do you make your living this way?
This sounded like a very honest way to make a living, as far as Alicia could see. Certainly, she wondered sometimes what exactly it was that she was *achieving* in her job, other than making her arm ache from signing bits of parchment. But that was simple self pity and she knew that, however a more straightforward life sounded marvellous to her some brightenings.

OOC: Don't you fret. Glad to have you back, dear.
Oh, happy day! She wanted to hear! So, with a big grin, the overly short Dracon pulled his notebook from his bag and set it on the table, opening it and sliding it toward the Elf. "The first thing I need to make is a hand lighter, made of wire, see? The end of the steel wire rubs along the flint fastened to the end and you have a flint and tinder you can spark merely by squeezing it. And this here," he added, as he turned the page, "are my specs for an arrowhead made of diamond. Once I get the weight factor and arrow balance figured out, you'd have an arrowhead that could punch through metal armor, hopefully… And this one here…" He turned the page again "is my idea for a self folding ladder. It has a lot of springs and such, but if I can streamline it, it'll be a 20 foot ladder that can fit in a backpack." He then pulled his hand back, letting the Elf look at his ideas, a nervous look in his eyes. "I got other ideas, too, so if these aren't too good, it's OK, I got more..."
