Kas Brightdelve is an upstanding Citizen
A Quiet Drink [Open]

Timestamp - 20th Optia, Summer, Era III of the Celestial Mandate, Era XII (pf)

It had been a couple of weeks since the Human man had arrived in Prime. Nothing much had changed, though he had been able to decide on a direction for his life, and to unwind a little. It was nice to sleep in a proper bed again, and to take regular baths. Apparently, that was something that Kas had sorely missed, the ability to take a bath whenever he wanted, rather than having to wait until he got to the next city. Booted footfalls took him down the private staircase that led from his room, the key hidden inside his pouch. Kas had taken the foresight to make sure he didn't carry all of his money with him, bringing just around a hundred crowns to tide him over for the night. He figured that would be more than enough for food and a drink. He was also lacking in weaponry and armour.

But then, he needed no weapons and armour. The man wore a simple, dark blue tunic and brown leather pants with a set of sturdy walking boots on his feet. All his weapons and defensive techniques were located in his mind. Kas was a Master Sorcerer of the old arcana and, while that meant he wasn't at full power until he relearnt, that meant he was fairly deadly without any weapons or armour. His booted feet carried him into the bar area of the Crown and over to an empty table. He selected one that would allow a reasonable amount of privacy, but wasn't located so much out of the way that he wouldn't be spotted. It was also reasonably well-lit, as Kas tended to dislike the dark. Human's were not a race that were supposed to dwell in the dark. That was his reasoning at any rate.

Once he was settled, the Human man waved a server over, offering a slight smile as he considered what to order from the menu. It didn't take long for him to decide. "I believe i'll start with the Crown Inn House Ale, thank you." The server wanderd off to get the ordered drink, leaving Kas alone with his thoughts for a few moments. He noted how the Crown seemed slightly quieter than it used to be, and wondered if this was partially due to the pox or for other reasons. The server returning with his ale shook the man from his thoughts, and he handed over two gold crowns to pay for it. "Keep the change." It wasn't a lot, but it was less coins for him to worry about. With a satisfied sigh, Kas took a swig from his ale, quietly watching the inhabitants of the tavern go about their business.

"Serale" Ian said, sitting down at the table with Kas. "Mind if I join your game of peoplewatching? Its an interesting sport. Very odd creatures at times. You can generally find more action than at a theatre and more depth and truth then at the feet of a philosopher. "

" Take that one for instance," Ian said, pointing to a short fat man at the bar drinking whisky. "He's obviously just finished work because he still has ink on his hands, most likely as a moderate level clerk since if he was anything less he couldn't afford those clothes and anything more he wouldnt be drinking here. He spends half the time looking over his shoulder, and the other half of the time his eyes are roving through the crowds, pausing conveniently at the certain areas where ladies happen to be present. Now why do you suppose he spends half of his time looking over his shoulder?"

The voice roused him from his thoughts, and the Human man glanced up at Ian, giving a very slight nod and welcoming smile in response. "Serale to you, also. I've no problems with you joining in. I find it quite interesting to just watch people going about their lives. Gives a little insight into the city, wouldn't you say?" It was also very true what Ian said about people in general, at least it was to Kas' mind. Entertaiment and action could spring up at any moment, while the depth's of a persons mind could hide all sort's of untold secrets, easily spotted by someone whom knew how to interpret body language. This got the Human man wondering if they would spot anyone interesting this brightening, though the next comment drew his emerald green gaze to the man sitting at the bar, enjoying his drink.

A dark brow raised in curiosity as the Human man listened to Ian give his analysis of the drinker. Judging by the apeprance, a clerk was quite possible, but then Kas also considered the possibility of a scribe. He could be someone paid to simply copy books, but he could agree that he was most likely just enjoying a drink after work. As for why he was looking over his shoulder, Kas had only one answer. "He's either afraid of being caught... which means he either hasn't finished work, or he's done something. The other possibility is that he's waiting for someone, which would also fit in with why he keeps scanning the crowds of people. In either case, he also seems nervous."

Keirron Ri'owa is an upstanding Citizen
Nudging the door open, Keirron growled as she pushed her way through, her arms full of papers. The light had gone, stupid clouds. Finding an empty table, she pushed aside some empty mugs and unloaded her armful of art supplies onto the table. Grumbling as she sorted them out, the white Katta’s tail swished from side to side. Carefully she put papers into the battered satchel and paint pots into a small box which also went into the darkness of the satchel. Finding a wandering maid, she piled the empty mugs upon her tray and asked for a mug of ale and a mug of hot water.

Once they arrived she set her brushes in the water and drew a mouthful of ale. Pulling up a seat she spread out a series of small sketches and tapped a pencil against her jaw. White fur was paint splattered, her shirt covered in ink, paint and pencil. Using a claw to scratch at her ear, she chewed on the end of the pencil looking over her sketches with intense concentration.

Ian laughed. "You know, I never considered that he might not be finished his work." Ian looked away and caught the eye of a serving girl, motioning her over.
"Getting caught yes, if this tavern is on the way home from his work and he is a regular, which would explain, by the way, the reason he is sitting at the bar and not at a table, then might he not be afraid of his wife guessing his whereabouts?"

"Ahhhh, but that could just add to the theory of being here when he should be at work." The Human man grinned, observing the clerk wtih a critical eye, considering how to best phrase his theory. "You see, if he is either married or attached, and thus would have someone worrying about him, it would make more sense for him to skip out of work early and come in here to get something to drink. That way, he would only have to worry about being caught by his employer rather than being caught by his wife. I don't know which would be worse though, in honesty." Kas chuckled and took a swig from his own ale, his gaze sweeping across the crowd once more. "You never know, he could always be waiting for a mistress too... assuming he does have someone else waiting at home for him. That would be another reason why he keeps looking around."

The emerald green gaze of the Human man eventually sttled on Keirron as she wandered through the room. He followed her form, raising a brow at the large amount of papers that she carried, then proceeding to sort them out on a table. Kas glanced back to Ian and nodded towards Keirron, giving them a new person to discuss. "What do you think about that person? Here to study people, here for inspiration or here because busy area's makes it easier for her to work? Seems like there could be a lot of reasons why someone would carry stacks of paper and a pencil into a place like this."

The paint splattered shirt was open, revealing the stark white of her fur beneath, a splodge of green on the pristine fur. Taking the brushes from their water, the tall Katta used an edge of her shirt to clean and dry them before putting them carefully in her bag. With an inward groan, she used a blue tinted claw to scratch away the dried paint on her fur, her pink tongue flicking over her muzzle.

Ears swiveled in their direction; she wasn’t far from them so she had heard. Jade and hazel eyes flicked up to the pair and narrowed.
Its going to rain, I think I’d prefer my work to stay dry. I dislike chaos and busy places, yet this was the closest building I could enter without being killed on sight.” Grumbling on in Kattaspeak she pushed the sketches in her bag and picked up her ale and strode toward them. Keirron towered over most, Lionoid blood dictation her huge and overpowering form.

I am Keirron Ri’owa, my apologies, it has been a trying day.” The thick Katta accent of the north lengthened the R’s and shortened the A’s, but her grasp on the language was good.

"Killed?" Ian said with a hint of shock in his voice. "Surely this city is not as bad as that. True there may be the occasional degenerate, but one would think that they would not be so bold as to act openly in a crowded street." Ian paused for a moment, in thought. "If you should ever need assistance, or a place to hide out for a few days, you may use my home. I am seldom it it so you would have privacy, but it is up to you." Ian shook his head, saddened by the knowledge that such hatred was still present in this culturally diverse mecca.

When it became obvious that the Katta had overheard the conversation, Kas gave a pleasant nod in her direction. He watched her stand up and wander over, her bag in one hand and an ale in the other. She wasn't that much taller than himself, but Keirron was definately one of the larger Katta he had ever met. He also noticed the way her accent lengthened the R's and shortened the A's. A seat was carefully pushed out with a booted foot. "Kas Brightdelve. Please, feel free to take a seat with us." The Human man took a swig from his ale, setting the tankard on the table and waiting for the Katta lady to take a seat before he started to talk to her properly. He did hear what Ian was saying though, and had to nod in agreement. He figured the whole 'being killed on sight' was probably just a figure of speech.

"I'm assuming it was just a figure of speech, but I haven't heard of anyone being killed in Prime for a very long time... close to 8 patterns, in fact. Well, obviously there was the pox and the mage rebellion... but I mean just one person attacking another. It's a pretty safe city." He nodded to the bag that she had ben carrying, taking an interest in the sketches. "You're an artist, I assume. I'm sure you'd find a large amount of subjects to sketch and paint in this place. It's always bustling with activity of varying kinds."

Taking her seat, she chuckled, a small growl emanating from her throat.
You have never been into my tribe, judging by the fact you are still alive with all of your limbs.” A large toothy grin stretching across her face.

Looking to her bag she pulled it up on the table and fingered the edge of the papers. Rolling a pink tongue over her lips she shrugged.
I prefer to paint outside, people and outside. Different light, inside seems so fake.” Pointing to the various lamps and candles. Turning back to the pair she lowered, what would be considered as, her eye brows.
Do you do anything interesting?

Ian nodded. "Interior portraits are generally more..." Ian paused, looking for the right word, "Artificial. But on the other hand, interior lighting casts vivid shadows and where it lacks in vibrance it makes up for in character. As for my activities, I am currently looking into training in the fields of healing and herbology, as well as various other hobbies."

The comment about not going to her tribe drew a slight nod from the Human man. There were a few things left in this world that he still hadn't seen, and the majority of Katta tribes were one of them. "Indeed, I have not." The comment about painting outside drew a slight smile from him, as he could understand the reasons for wanting to paint outside. But, Kas could also see the various opprotunities that were present from drawing within a building. Ok, the lighting was different, but the subject matter was too. "Painting inside could be quite an interesting perspective for you. Especially if you manage to find somewhere that has decent amounts of natural light, rather than the candles." He gave another slight nod, taking a swig from the tankard of ale that he was holding, thinking on her question.

It was Ian whom answered first, and he seemed to have an interesting job. Healers and Herbalists were always useful in the Human's mind, especially as people couldn't rely on Arcana to solve all of their problems. This was something he had learnt personally a long time ago. It could help, that was for sure, but it couldn't solve everything. For now, Kas turned his attention back to Keirron and smiled slightly. "I used to be the Governor of Lauryl a long time ago. But, personal circumstances forced me to step down from that position. Now, I am merely a pre-aetherfracture Master Sorcerer who continues to wander and explore this world that we live in. Though I have to admit, i'm considering finding somewhere to settle down now."

Shrugging she grinned a little, “Yes, inside is good, for winter times. I much prefer outside. I paint inside a lot of the time as it is.

A mage, a magic user? Scrunching her nose a little, a small hiss escaped her lips. She didn’t like magic much; it did to many things to people, bad things. Still, she could kill him if he tried anything on her.
Interesting, what of you Ian?

"At the moment, nothing. I have been considering many options, although the first and foremost of these, I must say, is the option of becoming a Ranger."

A small chuckle escaped the Human's lips as he heard the soft hiss come from the Katta lady when he mentioned his arcana. "I wouldn't worry... i've only ever used my Arcana to travel the empire. It's very useful to be able to Teleport across the entire empire in a few seconds. I do know other ways of using it too, but i've never had a need to." Kas gave a slight nod and took another swig from his ale, listening to what Ian hoped to do. Rangers were pretty rare from what he'd seen, so it was nice to meet someone who wanted to become one. "You may have better luck trying to become a Ranger in Natura. It's been a long time since I visited that city, but I do remember that they had a ranger hall there. I've no idea if it's still standing or not." He gave a soft shrug after offering up that particular piece of information, not entirely sure if it would be useful for not, but he hoped it would be.
