And so her story begins..
Second Cycle of Melora
in the Winter of Era X Post Fractum,
Age of the Darkening
It was late on a Dianara afternoon, the last of the triplet suns descended below the horizon as scattered snowflakes made their escape from the heavens. Through the bustle of the capitol's crowd, a young Kemite human made her way toward the warm, inviting light of the infamous Crown Inn and Tavern. A twist of excitement crept through the pit of her stomach as black eyes beheld the eccentrically constructed brick building. So many stories had begun within the walls of this very tavern, as her's was to be no exception. Not even an hour beforehand she had sold her deceased grandmother's home within the residential district. The presence of the resulting banknote within her suitcase did not go unnoticed, she was aware of it with every passing step--her spirit alive with the anxiety of what she planned to do. Take the money and run..
Stepping through the double doors of the tavern, she paused only momentarily as she took in the sounds and smells. A recent graduate of schola, she'd never been permitted within such an establishment before. Dizzy with excitement and nerves, she moved from the foyer to the main room and into a table near a wall, quickly to avoid any drawn attention. Silently, she waited, hands clasped within her lap, for a waitress to notice her, though she dare not call for one aloud.

Asaeda jumped in her seat at the introduction of an unexpected guest. Her mind had been on other things--her eyes wandering through the patrons and ears catching snippets of their conversations. She hadn't realized one of them was speaking to her until halfway through the man's sentence, when she'd taken to surprise. Slanted eyes immediately turned toward the ground as a gloved hand was placed at her heart. "Oh, pardon me," she uttered barely audible enough for the man to hear above the clamour of the mainroom. She offered a sheepish grin to him as she nodded toward the empty seat across from her, "Not at all. My name is Asaeda."

The young Kemite offered another slight smile, her eyes downcast as she was apparently very interested in the grain of the table. She was unused to strangers being so forward and was unsure of how much would be appropriate, or safe, to tell him. The whole process of tavern-going was fascinating, she mused--complete strangers striking up conversation whenever the mood struck them. She vaguely wondered if the man might be drunk, a concept that intruiged her even further as those of her heritage were taught from a young age to always avoid such temptations--it's quite likely that she'd never even been in a room with alcohol in it before, let alone chatted with a drunkard. "Well, I've lived in Alleria my whole life, actually. I come from Zinn'Sunn, I'm.. here on business," She concluded, attempting to straighten out her voice so that it might not give away the fact that she may just be too young for any business dealings.

Korax noticed something about her, like she has never been in an alcholic situation before,so he spoke up "just to let you know i am not a drunkard ma lady, yes i drink but i do not get drunk."Korax noticed the nervousness in the young lady and in efforts to calm her down he leaned back in his chair and put his hands on the table and continued."bussiness ya say, what kind of bussiness if ya dont mind me asken?"Korax sat there with a slight warm smile on his face to attempt to ease the yound lady.

As the girl hadn't spoken of her thoughts on alcohol, she was quite taken aback when he addressed the issue as if she had. His apparent ability to read her mind unsettled her and, thus, her thoughts turned to what she had heard about protecting oneself from a mysticist--establishing a mental barrier which they could not pass through. As she was no magician she knew little of the ways of arcana and the possibility of experiencing some sort of mind probe without her permission did little to make her more comfortable. "Well, I, uh.." She hesitated, her mind torn between protecting herself from this sorcerer and whether or not he already knew the answer to her question. She chose to evade the truth, anyway. "Just tying up some loose ends for my family, that's all."
As she finished her sentence, a waitress finally discovered the as-of-yet unserviced duo. Relieved for a distraction from this strange man, Asaeda placed her order for tea and stew--though, she was surprised to see that so much was still not available on the menu despite the gates of Prime having been open for nearly two months now. While Korax placed his order, she felt it safe to think of where she might go, as she surely couldn't stay in the capitol much longer.

By Ioannes, he'd done it again! Obviously her mind barrier-making capabilities were not up to par, this was a very powerful mage she was dealing with--and a rude one at that, probing her thoughts without her consent, even when she'd just been thinking that she was not at all happy about that. Now obviously flustered, the Kemite stood up in a hurry, grabbing her suitcase and swinging her cape into the crook of her arm. "I entreat you, Sir, to use more manners when practicing your arcana. I do not appreciate you conducting spells on me without my consent. I have half a mind to report you to the authorities. Now, if you'll please excuse me, I think I'll be taking my supper upstairs."
With that, Asaeda turned and began to make her way through the crowd of the tavern, quickly to avoid any more spellcasting inflictions upon her self. Her first experience in such an establishment and she was surely scarred for life--she was now determined to, as soon as would be possible, find a tutor who could instruct her on protecting herself from unwanted magickal practices.
[OOC: I realize that I am new to this game, but from my understanding of the rules, it is considered a bunny to read the thoughts of other players.]
