Hm, yes, progress.

The Warlord continued with what he was doing.

Bones is a malevolent Minion

It was unusual for Bones that he wasn't simply clobbering away at the enemy. Instead, he was being what he considered to be cunning—not attacking out in the open but weakening his opponent through less obvious means. Was there less honour in such an approach? Probably, but it was just another form of strength being employed. He'd been given this talent, and it was helping him get rid of those who opposed him.

While the Warlord continued his attacks, Bones kept interfering with the regeneration.

Smash! CRASH! Crackle!

Bones broke under the combined onslaught of Necromancy and Choppa, and soon enough the Undead Ogre wasn’t getting up anytime soon. Partially because WAAAAAAAGH broke the legs in twain and sent it tumbling to the ground, but mostly because the shattered legs weren’t able to be Calcified back together and allow the construct to return to the fight.

Between them, the Necromancer and his Undead Minions had been brought to ruin.

"Haha," Bones roared in triumph as the undead fell apart. For the first time ever, he'd bested another mage. That felt good! "Stupid goblin necromancer, haha!" No more skeletons then? Would Skelley talk if the ogre removed the skull from the chain? Or had the magic been broken with the demise of the goblin?

And were there any trinkets that would interest Bones, who was still very much an ogre by nature?

When the Orc and Ogre were near the top of the tower, finding directions which weren’t the way that they’d come was markedly difficult. Partially because the chamber that the Goblin Necromancer had been using only had one other exit – the whole in the wall he’d been punted out of. But mostly? Because making use of that exit would have resulted in a fatal mishap.

The room that they were in appeared to be some form of meeting chamber for edicts when the Castle had belonged to the Imperium. Perhaps a room for discussing strategy, but whatever its initial purpose? It’d been turned into a combination of living room, bedroom and general space to reside within.

Which meant that there was indeed the Goblins effects left behind. Some might have been on the ground now in the midst of the broken body of the Necromancer below, but others remained in their present location. A number of old scrolls made out of dried leather and when rummaging about? A golden Torc was found that had some Imbuements along with a handful of gaudy rings that would never fit on WAAAAAAAGH or Bones hands – but too were Imbued with various effects.

Hmm. "Let's take this git's stuff." Loot! Some to be stored, likely, some to be doled out. The ogre had certainly earned himself a fair share of the stuff.

Anyway, once they'd grabbed anything that looked useful! Time to go back down and see if there was anything else in the keep. Best make sure it was cleared and safe before declaring it greenskin territory.

To the ogre, it didn't matter if the shiny trinkets were too small for his fingers. Anything that he found at least mildly intriguing was worth taking — he'd worry about whether he could wear it later. "Sounds good," he told the Warlord, before turning to Skulley.

Shaking the skull that had told them how to get in, he'd ask it whether there were hidden rooms that they should know about. Did the goblin necromancer have any kind of place where he sat and practiced necromancy? Bones would bring the goblin's remains with them in any case, and whatever he could find on its tiny corpse, but maybe there was something stashed away somewhere.

Loot! A further exploration of the Keep resulted in there being little that WAAAAAAAGH or Bones would find useful. Food stores were non-existent for the main – only remains and food that had long since spoiled and rot. Conflict, time and neglect had ensured that most other materials such as wood stores had been subjected to white ants, and that what metal work could be melted down was likely to be inferior to the ore dredged from the Vorgon Mines.

It was as if the Goblin Necromancer had only set up shop after the Keep had been ransacked several times over.

What WAAAAAAAGH had inherited in a manner of course was more the stonework and shell of a fortress, and the outlying areas as a further expansion of territory than any meaningful resources. More land to hold and defend, but the gains largely appeared to stem from the control of the nearby woodland for logging than anything else. Woodland at least that wasn’t contested by the Imperials at the Phondra Forest or bordering against the Imperial Maeve territories.

Shaking the skill yielded no answers, just a faint rattling sound.

Territory was territory and a fort was a fort. Taking the keep was more about smoothing out a bump in the Warlord's lands than anything else, really - and they had what they needed now.

In time they could get some boyz in here, fortify it up a bit, and have a nice keep to watch over the area and stuff. For now? It seemed it was time to head back, having succeeded in their mission.

"Nothing." Bones tossed the skull away. It wasn't talking anymore, and the ogre hadn't killed whoever's skull it was, which meant he'd no reason to hang on to it. The place was filled with bones, and this would be one of them.

Before they left, the necromancer circled around the fortress, seeking the goblin's corpse. He'd bring that with him, along with any personal items the critter had carried. He hadn't forgotten about he oak staff with the silver skull on it.

After that, he'd head back to Vers with the orcs. If the Warlord needed a large fellow to help fortify the keep, Bones would volunteer. Perhaps they'd uncover something in the process.
