WAAAAAAAGH WAAAAAAAGH WAAAAAAAGH WAAAAAAAGH

Right then! Pack some food for the trip. Hard to fight on an empty stomach and all. March! The journey to Orckon itself wasn't all too eventful. Here and there, perhaps, the Warlord pointed out little outposts the greenskins had in the nearby territory. They owned a vast swathe of land, almost half of the Khardran Mountains to the north and stretching down to spill into northern Sherian. With time, perhaps, Bones would get to visit most of it.

For now, though? The task at hand! The massive city of Orckon loomed ahead, the once-home of what had been a thriving orc civilization. The Warlord had seen it once in its prime, in a glimpse into the past. In many ways it was far superior to what they had now - but in many ways it was inferior as well. They were gone now, after all, while orcs like the Warlord remained. Survival was the only thing that mattered in the long-run, after all.

Anyway. "See all those gits out dere?" the Warlord noted, pointing out the vast sea of shambling, brainless undead that wandered about. "Ya wonna be careful not to get too many of 'em at once. Draw a few away, smash 'em. Rinse, repeat. Plenty of 'em to take care of!" Not that they were gonna be clearing out the undead entirely anytime soon. But slowly chip away at a mountain, and eventually it'd be reduced to rubble.

Helping himself to some of the supplies, Bones was soon ready to depart. He didn't have much to carry along, just the club in his hand and the armour on his back. Two human skulls dangled from the metal chain that the ogre wore around his waist - trophies of an earlier encounter. Perhaps this small expedition would be a chance to gather some more.

It was sad to see Orckon in its current state. "Do you think it will be restored one day?" He asked WAAAAAAAGH, pointing at the remains of the orc city. Perhaps the Warlord himself would once have it rebuilt?

As soon as they encountered the first groups of undead, WAAAAAAAGH proved that he knew that pure muscle strength wasn't the way to glory. As Bones had begun to realise a little while ago, it was important to use your big brain and be smarter than everyone else. "I understand," the ogre said with a nod, snapping his head left and right and rolling his massive shoulders. "Where did they come from?" Were these the humans who used to live in the Sherian? Were there really so many of them?

Taking a few steps away from the orc, Bones made sure that he wasn't going to hit any friendlies. He then sought out a small clump of brainless shufflers, ready to set the closest ones flying and then take a few steps back to see how they reacted. As the Warlord instructed, there was a strategy to defeating these enemies, and Bones wanted to found out how to effectively attack them.

"If we get rid of all da undead, probably!" That was the grand plan at the moment, anyway. As far as the Warlord was aware, the city was likely a treasure trove of lost technology and knowledge. And from what he'd seen of the Imperials, ork tek was definitely among the highest caliber available. If they could salvage even a little bit of what had once been there, then there was plenty that they could do with it.

One just had to take a look at the greenskins based out of Khardra. They were, as far as the Warlord could tell, remnants of the olden days of the greenskins - so far from the sphere of influence that had been Orckon, and yet doing incredibly well for themselves. There was so much that they could be done.

Where did the undead come from? "Hmmm. 'Eard de uumies were fightin' among demselves, and some big nob shaman came in and did lots of magicks that killed a bunch of 'em." To be honest, the Warlord didn't really care that much about the details. The undead were there, and they were in the way just asking to be smashed. What did anything else matter?

Right then. Time to fight! "WAKE UP BOYZ, ITS TIME FER FIGHTIN!" the orc bellowed, leaping into the fray, even as Bones felt a sense of power flowing through him. Stronger, faster, more effective in combat. This much was obvious as a single swing absolutely pulverized a handful of the undead. Their bodies continued on, though, what was left of them dragging, or just generally twitching in his direction.

They just walked towards him. That's all they did. It was a matter of getting close and overwhelming with numbers when it came to these kinds of undead.

Time to fight indeed!

As he prepared himself for the encounter, Bones was surprised when WAAAAAAAGH raised a warcry the likes of which he'd never experienced. The ogre had been in battles, had been part of small armies at times, but most rallying cries did little more than motivate the troops. When the Warlord shouted, it made Bones feel physically stronger. Not only that, he could feel the power surge through his body and knew that whatever had been done made him faster as well. Faster than the zombies approaching him.

For a moment, it made him regard the Warlord in awe. With that kind of power, it was no surprise that the orcs had conquered such a large part of the province already. WAAAAAAAGH not only made himself stronger, but those surrounding him as well. It was an ability that had without a doubt decided many battles, and which made Bones's talent look very minor indeed. Still, this was not the time for comparison. This was clobberin' time!

Moving forward, Bones executed a diagonal swing of his club that started near his feet and swung forcefully upwards. Whatever got caught in the way would soon be sailing through the air. He followed it up by moving the club straight down, and then moving it up again across his chest. For anyone paying close attention, he'd just drawn the number eight lying on its side.

The first attack executed, the ogre stepped back and reassessed the situation. Only when he was sure that he wasn't being flanked or surrounded did he run forward again, with the intention of giving more undead free flying lessons.

Biff! Pow! Wham!

The undead were quite fragile. Or maybe Bones was just really strong? Either way, clobbering through them was a simple enough task thus far. It was, from what the ogre could tell, mostly a matter of attrition. The undead were easy to take care of, but there were a heck of a lot of them, and they were persistent buggers. Even when you chopped them in half, each separate half would keep on trying to attack you. It took a good, thorough stomping to really beat them.

With the Warlord's buff in tow, at this point it was easy smooth sailing. It was technically a fight in the same way that eating candy was technically a meal. Best take care to keep track of stamina, though. Didn't want to attract too many undead and end up exhausted!

Focusing on the walking ones, Bones was starting to find out, meant that he hadn't noticed the crawling and clawing remains of those he'd considered shattered and defeated. They were hardly more than annoying at this point, arms and heads slowly drawing near before he stomped on them. The more the undead remained intact, however, the more they became something to reckon with; those with only their legs missing could still swing an axe at the ogre's feet after all.

Stomping worked, and Bones did more and more of that as the fight drew on. The undead were easy to defeat, he found, but their strength lay in numbers and unwavering persistence. Being surrounded by a pile or remains was suddenly tricky, as they might spur to life once more. It meant moving around a bit more while continuing to smash those who came near, and that in turn meant that he spent more energy than he'd expected.

With the buff creating a divergence between the power he felt and that which he actually held, there was the risk of overexerting himself. Still, with his intention to impress the Warlord, Bones kept his mouth shut and ploughed along. At one point he took a few steps back in order to demonstrate another one of the benefits he could bring the greenskins. Concentrating, he gathered the essence of death that surrounded them in copious amounts, and blended in his own vis.

Normally, Bones would create a single ball of slimeAcid Sphere, but considering the amount of enemies and his wish to impress, the ogre decided to experiment. Instead of a single sphere, he tried create a handful of smaller ones--drops the size of his fingernail--and send them flying towards a cluster of enemies. It would likely be similar to tossing a hand of pebbles at a group of humans, although the pebbles would actually be burning acid. The alteration made the curse, as Bones referred to his spells, more difficult, and he allowed more time in order to successfully execute it.

Did necromancy work on undead creatures?

...

Sure, why not? It wasn't as if bone or rotten flesh had any sort of inherent resistance against acid, after all. Bones found that it certainly helped with mopping up the smaller giblets, rendering them damaged enough to not pose anything of a threat at all anymore. Good stuff!

"Dafug is dat?" the Warlord would ask, pointing at the stuff he'd just thrown. Weird stuff! Best to learn about it.

Watching the persistent undead sniglets sizzle and burn, Bones grinned beneath his mask. When WAAAAAAAGH asked what he'd done, he did his best to explain. "Bones can... curse enemies, and throw biting slime. The power is around us, here more than usual, and I draw it and... stir it into my own power." At least, that was his own (limited) understanding of his abilities.

He looked at the Warlord for a little longer to see if he'd made sense, before turning his attention back to the attackers. His muscles would soon start to complain, but there were lots more to smash and Bones would not stop until WAAAAAAAGH had declared that he'd seen enough. This was still a kind of job interview, after all.

whot

"Dafug does dat mean?" The Warlord didn't know! He'd try to figure it out. "Hmm. Make your enemies weak and throw that sizzling stuff, eh?" All of that power stuff, though, he didn't get none of that. Wasn't like his shouty stuff at all, nope!

Back to the job, then! Smash! Crush! Destroy! Wreck! The two of them carved a nice swathe through the undead before the Warlord decided that enough was enough. They'd done some nice culling today, another healthy chunk of the undead horde gone from around Orckon. Still plenty of work to do in future, though.

Probably best to get on back, then. And also to do a bit of talking. "So whot's ya plan? You wanna join the Mob? Or just be, ehhhh, some git who works wiff us?" The latter afforded the ogre a degree of independence, allowing him to do his own thing for the most part but also working together with the Warlord when he might see fit. Mostly, the orc was trying to figure out how the ogre would fit into the overall hierarchy of things.

"Yes," said the ogre. Between someone who could hardly explain what he was able to do, and someone who had no idea what the other fellow was talking about, Bones and WAAAAAAAGH could have had a very lengthy and unproductive conversation about magic and arcana. Instead, wisely, they moved back to what they were both familiar with: cracking skulls.

The toothy grin never left the ogre's face as they continued to smash 'n' bash their slow antagonists, although he wondered exactly how many there were. He doubted that the undead reproduced, so that meant that there'd be a limited amount. Once they'd killed all of them, one day, that would be it. Unless there was someone with the same ability to make the dead walk, and was a thousandfold stronger than he was.

"Bones can help where you need him," he told WAAAAAAAGH, not wishing to be a foot soldier but glady joining the Orc Horde in their efforts to cleanse the province. With the increased activity to the north, even someone like Bones recognised the value of a unified greenskin army. At the same time, he was still figuring out his own strength, and his own abilities. Should he swear allegiance to the Warlord, just to make it official?

Uh.

"You wanna stay in Vers?" Somewhere to keep his stuff, maybe, while he wandered around or helped out our whatever.

"Bones would gladly live in the fortified city," said the ogre, who was curious to find out what life in Vers was about. He wasn't planning to return to the Black Ooze tribe anytime soon, so it would be good to have a new place to call home. "Are there more ogres in Vers?" He'd seen orcs, trolls, and goblins. Any other races that he could look forward to meeting?

"Naw." Bones was the only ogre they'd seen in a long time. Mostly orcs and goblins. A few trolls, some kobolds. They had a big ol' giant in there too.

Might as well head back and show Bones around a bit, then. "Ya have anything ya need to move in?" Any belongings? A camp he had out in the wilderness somewhere?

No ogres yet, but perhaps when Bones had proven himself a qualified leader he could covince some of his tribe to join the greater cause. Maybe he'd seek out the giant, who he'd something in common with, to see how life in Vers was for someone towering above the other troops.

There wasn't really much to move. "Some small things," he told the Warlord. "Not so important." The most valuable thing he owned right now was probably the metal mask, along with his club. Other than that Bones mostly had ambitions rather than rewards at this point in time.

It felt good to be part of something bigger, and the ogre was pleased that he'd have some new goals set out for him. He'd still fight and get stronger, but now with a sense of purpose; fighting for a stronger and unified Sherian.

OOC;
Bones is Awarded 1 Experience in either Club or Necromancy,
WAAAAAAAGH is Awarded 1 Experience in a skill relevant to the thread,

As part of the Horde, Bones should be treated as having a Sterling wealth tier within the Sherian. Bronze is only if you insist >_>.

Cheers, Maddyn
