Well, with the new map we'v an abundance of forts and keeps and the like speckled throughout the empire. It seems, a rather worthy project would be to generate a simple list of said forts and their purpose, and potentialy integrate that with the legion management to figure out how many troops they on average have and the like.
This would work well for mods as they could have legion pc's placed in said locations then and actualy rp out their actual duties, be it simple road patrol, monitoring the border/goblinoid tribes/etc or a central facility for training and troop organization.
A lot of them from looking at the map seem like they'd have fairly simple practical uses. placed along roads, or in central area's, patrol and the like to maintain the peace, placed on the border, then its a monitoring force, etc. heck, I'd just generate a basic list of assumed myself, but i'v not much itneraction with the legions, so would prefer to just add my imput to anyone who was willing to tackle the project, wel lthat and I'v no clue what locations have been put to use at any point.
but yep, curious as to others imput on wether this would be something worth doing and how dificult it would be to combine this with existing troop placement and numbers.

Not difficult at all Dimmy, but a rather great help!
The funn thing right now is that - as Alexis reported to Milo sometime in Kalendryas - so far they've only been able to verify the existence of a fraction of the Empire's officially budgeted authorized strength. I can get the actual numbers, but let it be said that we're still verifying.
Most of the locations in use are in the legions list. Castle Marchant near Portshire, for one, the Lylles Palace in Lauryl, for another.
War is the horror that occurs when rational minds fail at the negotiating table of diplomacy. ~Queen Katishandra of Daittern, Aelyrian Warfare through the Ages. **11/24: Since Alexis is vacationing in the Eunesias, I thought it would be fun to replicate the experience IRL. Back next week!**
Along with fcastle lyles, you'v fort pellwyn. wich given its location could be set as an old pre empire border base, wich is now converted into statiioning troops as they transfer into lauryll organizing and then dispersing them into the province from there. patrols fromt ehre would also cover much of the area between zinn'sun riparia and trafic coming in from centripax.
a bit south, you'v taber keep on the lylles river and also placed near the border to kalyria. So its a variety of potential uses, simple border monitoring, it and kalyria's kopfeild post keeping an eye on each other. as well as to cover any mercant travel on the river itself, or even potentialy tax it.
further south right around where the borders of fae'rel and kalyria connect, you'v castellian keep, again it splaced relativly well to monitor the fae'wood and the western edge of the kalyrian mountains, so its current purpose seems fairly obvious.
nantz fotress on the western side of lake melody is harder, since there is little there to realy monitor beyond smaller villages and perhaps the xet border.
but take those forts with the troops statione din mystique and the lylles palace and you get a fairly decent net covering the province for small patrols to cover ground and keep track of any banditry or other such problems. heh, also makes lake melody a seemingly nice place to settle since it has a fort covering east south and west, with mystique covering the north.
but with any of that developed, even to a guidline level, it would mean any legion pc's in lauryll would be able to quickly establish where they will be'ish, and what they should be doing, making training and xp threads fairly obvious, be it a routine patrol along the river lylles, or a simple scouting mission to look into something along hte borders or the like.
not to mention if we actualy rp a war again, you'v an idea of the logistics involved, where troops are moving from, how many messengers are needed, all that fun detail stuff that fills out a post and gives it a sense of weight and realism.
heh , but I"m rambling there, just an idea of what I was specificly thinking about. heh and an example of how relativly simple it is to produce guidlines that the legion pc's can then glance over and correct to fit existing rp(locations not currently on the map for example)

If no one minds I will take Dimmy's idea and make a guideline for the imperial legions, then I will submit it for preview by Alexis and Sheng and whoever may be interested
It would indeed be useful to have a list of IC castles, not just the ones that seem to be on the official map (which looks freakin' awesome )
Jaedaxia has several castles, but none of them are for military use (other than the headquarters for the Imperial Legions). Otherwise, I'll be happy to add some 'secrets' about the castles in and around Jaedaxia for future reference, etc.

Alright before we move into a more detailed list I will post here a suggestion to what the garrisons of the castles located on the new map would be. I will also place Legion garrisons in cities because it would make sense most of the troops would be stationed throughout the province and not only in the HQs and a few castles.
When a location receives the designation "HQs" it means it has at least 3 Covi of said Legion stationed inside it and with a varying number of troops stationed there but on long range patrols throughout the countryside.
Prime:
Macria - 1 Centuri of the 28th Legion (may change since there is a new Legion being created in Abestat)
Abestat - 2 Covi of the 28th Legion (may change since there is a new Legion being created in Abestat)
Ioanimalia - 1 Centuri of the 28th Legion (may change since there is a new Legion being created in Abestat)
Kaliaport - 1 Centuri of the 28th Legion (may change since there is a new Legion being created in Abestat)
Great Lighthouse - 1 Cohort of the 28th Legion
Songbrooke - 2 Centurii of the 28th Legion
Letoris - 1 Centuri of the 28th Legion
Castle Marchant - HQs of the 12th Legion
Constantium - 1 Covi of the 12th Legion
Rynum - 1 Centuri of the 12th Legion
Prateia - 1 Cohort of the 1st Legion
Aelyria Prime - Jade Legion, 17 Cohortii of the 1st Legion
Highport - 1 Cohort of the 1st Legion
Qurtat - 1 Cohort of the 1st Legion
Talestra - 1 Centuri of the 12th Legion
Elancia - 1 Centuri of the 12th Legion
Candanceburg - HQs of the
Seldorhal - 1 Covi of the 12th Legion
Malrothia - 1 Centuri of the 12th Legion
Farwater - 1 Domanus of the 12th Legion
Lysandria - 1 Covi of the 12th Legion
Regia Palace - 1 Cohort of the 12th Legion
Secrets :
Prime Province:
1st Legion: Aelyria Prime (Empress' Own)
12th Legion: Cadanceburg (Cadanceburg Harvesters)
20th Legion: Aelyria Prime (Agheron Legion, Imperial Magecorps)
26th Legion: Aelyria Prime (Imperial Shields, Imperial Intelligence Agency)
28th Legion: Castle Marchant (Sons of Valimar)
30th Legion: Aelyria Prime (The Jade Legion, recruitment and training Legion)
1 Imperial Army, containing 28 Legions
1 Imperial Host, containing 3 Serrista Legions led by a Provost Imperatis
1 Serrista Legion, containing 3 Legions led by a Kestor Imperatis
Legion:
1 Legion, containing 2 Daos led by an Imperatis
2 Daos (5000), each containing 5 Covi led by a Provost
10 Covi (1000), each containing 2 Cohortii led by a Kestor
20 Cohortii (500), each containing 5 Centuri led by a Cencoris
100 Centuri (100), each containing 100 men led by a Daekin
Centurios:
5 Domanus, each containing 20 men led by a Sword-Daekin
2 Manus, each containing 10 men led by a Shield-Daekin
well, with this I'd also love to see assumed duties. for cities its obvious enough and not necisarly needing to be listed, though perhaps you could seperate the listing into city divisions, and then forts castles or towns who's units have specific duties. Say candices respite, is its unit there primarily to patrol and monitor the pass with the city just being a sort of merchatn stopover taht grew around said unit? is part of coldlights citadels duty to protect traffic along the river?
great lighthouse and farwater are easy enough. Not sure about much else, I have a distaste for prime, so cramped togethor.
