House Malnaghi
Of the three noble houses left on Chelseanna, the Lordship of Malnaghi was the one mentioned the least by the islanders. Their family had always been famous for producing intelligent scholars, writers and novelists. Like the rest of the noble families, its numbers had dwindled over the centuries, but it had survived nonetheless. Then, the House had seemingly died with the last of the Malnaghi, Isidoro. His mother having died in the labor of his birth, his father having committed suicide over her loss, Isidoro had had a sickly health that worsened steadily throughout his childhood and adolescence. When he could barely stand, he decided to leave for the mainland to look for a healer that could do something about his condition before it was too late.
Some time later, the rumor spread on the island that Isidoro Malnaghi had indeed died somewhere in Carmelyn. Everyone thought then that the Lordship had finally succumbed, but they were proved wrong when, one night patterns later, the Lord returned with his new wife, a beautiful Vagaran woman by the name of Arina Selensdotter. They quickly claimed their mansion back and re-established the House in a matter of cycles. According to the rumors, Isidoro had found, probably in Alchemy, the way to defeat his illness. And so the House was back. While the Lord himself was rarely even spotted, the islanders knew that a streak of madness has always run in the family, and left them alone for the most part. His wife was an exceptional manager and mistress of the house.
Their mansion was a beautiful piece of Chelseannan architecture, rising directly by the sea on the Northern shores of the islands on a slightly elevated rocky cliff. A long path would lead to the gates of the two-story structure, decorated with gargoyles and the coat of arms of House Malnaghi, the Eunesian Fox on a black field. They did not receive many visitors, but those who had tea with the Lady were highly impressed with her elegance and manners. Apparently Lady Arina was the new source of wealth for the previously fallen noble house.
