The Alberti had been the best luthiers in Eunesia for as long as anyone could remember, their craftsmanship unmatched and passed down through the generations. The first Alberti had been there when Chelseanna had been rebuilt from the ground up and turned into a touristic destination. The rich architect that had designed and reconstructed Port Chelseanna, saving it from decline, had wanted an exceptional maker of violins and other strings, and Giacomo Alberti had been that man.
Many generations later, Saverio Alberti was one of the most skilled artisans his family had ever given birth to. A lifetime member of the Pro Loco Tourism Board, Alberti spent much more time crafting instruments inside his workshop than he did attending the secret meetings of the Tourism Board. The storefront was yet another limestone facade, flanked by two engravings shaped like violin keys. It would occur to the visitor that the building itself was a musical instrument, the small decorative columns sticking out of the wall and gracing the sides of both door and windows reminded of strings, and the a chimney-like appendage on the roof was pretty much like the fingerboard of a violin.
Inside, one had the impression that one's voice took on more melodious, harmonic tones, as if morphed by the very walls. There were many instruments on display, though those were mostly made by Alberti's apprentices. The truly unique creations were those of the Master himself, and those could easily cost more than the average citizen made in an era. Sometimes Alberti even required strange and exotic materials in the construction of his violins, always seeking to create the 'ultimate' instrument that would consign him to legends.
Sitting behind the counter was usually Alberti's daughter, Miriana. A dark-haired beauty, she displayed a case of heterochromia, like quite a few native Chelseannans, the left eye blue and the right one, black. She would smile at the newest visitor and ask them in a bright voice that seemed to glow with politeness if they happened to be tourists,
"Serale, and welcome to the String Sanctum. How may I help you?"
