Porto Di Celsianna [Main Gates- Post here first!]

(This is the main gates to Port Chelseanna- feel free to self mod your way in. However if you want me to show up and flirt with you, I'll drop in!)

-=| Porto di Celsianna |=-

Description:

Celsianna Harbor is the gateway to the remarkable city of Port Chelseanna. It is accessable through three large man made canals on the north side of the Island. They broke the green curtain of evergreens that ringed the island and hid the city from the dangerously curious. Ships would navigate the deep canals that would empty to the Harbor. The harbor was round and broad, not as big as Ieffreon's, but it could comfortably fit a large number of merchant and military vessels.

The city of Port Chelseanna ringed the Harbor. Its buildings were white and glittered in the sunlight, clever and ornate in design. A tower rose in the middle of the city, gargoyles could be seen carved upon ledges as if they were protecting the Thanal Tower. In the backgroud stood Mount Tuli- the volcano which gave life to this island. In fact where the harbor stood was Mount Tuli's sister volcano, which erupted and caused the crater that was the Harbor today.

The Porto (as the natives called it) had six wharfs for ships to load and unload cargo upon the southern side of the harbor. There were two gates to the Porto- the gate for cargo that connected to the Distretto Del Magazzino and the Cancello Del Passeggero that ushered visitors into the Piazza del Mare and onto the main avenue- the Strada di Celsianna

All visitors would be shown towards the Cancello Del Passeggero where a few uniformed Porto Guards inspected visas and checked bags. They were polite men, all young, dressed in dark blue and all wearing High Fan military hats that resembled the fin of a shark.

They would greet men with a brusque manner and would quickly check his visa and ask-
"Why have you come to Porto di Celsianna?"

However, women would get a much more heartfelt greeting. The guards would flirt with all young women, but in a harmless manner...or was it?
"Ah, Serale, Signora...May I get your bags for you? Why have you blessed us with your presence here?"

Spring XIV

The Elf stepped off the ferry slowly, wary and cautious of the new image that seemed to mirror Ieffreon.

His skin was fair and plush, an absent red hue sprawling lazily across his cheeks, flushed with the day's heat after having sweltered underneath the sun at the rails of the cool, refreshing breeze. It had been a long time since Erenthril had tasted the salty wisp of the ocean's air, and even longer since he'd felt that uncomfortable squeeze in his stomach muscles, the flitter flutter of butterflies housed within. Yet he'd stumbled off of the ferry quite in one piece, and, trudging his way aground and off of the wharf, was more than happy to acquiesce to the request of the two uniformed young men with the rather peculiar hats. Slipping his Imperial Visa into the hands of one and turning to the other, he nodded his head and explained in a very mellow, muffled tone his business in Chelseanna and the motive behind arriving.

His vacation had finally begun.

Nimavel Mynendil is an upstanding Citizen
Month of Melora in the Season of Spring, Era XIV

Ebony tresses levitated lazily with the coastal wind, swaying loosely behind the elf lord as he strode alongside his wife, the lovely Calairiel Gil’dae. The Heru Mynendil’s lavender-flecked gaze drifted alertly in front of him, fixating upon the gates of opulent Chelseanna. Despite elfin-kind’s adoration for the aesthetic, Nimavel Mynendil had never graced the fertile soils of Telath’s northernmost island. It was a realm that he had read of in books and heard of in fairytales, but never before would he have imagined that he would endeavor to the isolated paradise.

…unless it was a matter of business.

Stealing a glance at his beloved, the elf lord’s eyes afterwards darkened beneath the waves of obsidian that dashed across his alabaster-hued face. Raising a slender, pale digit to bat away the tresses from his predatory countenance, Nimavel spared Calairiel a tender smile, one that was reserved for her alone.

It is pleasant here, is it not?

He perfunctorily asked, nodding in confirmation before scanning the horizon where the pinnacle of the island’s inactive volcano could be discerned. The volcano. Beneath the mask of indifference that he wore, the Lord of House Mynendil anxiously wondered if his companions had arrived in kind.

They had work to do.

My wife and I are here to sightsee, call it a vacation if you will.

Producing his visa from the confines of his cloak, Nimavel constructed a watchful eye upon the guards as they prepared to address Calairiel. When that was finished, the pair would bypass the gates and head towards the nearest inn.

Spring, Era XIV

"Ah. Well, Imperial business, don't y'know . Enjoying the sea breezes and recuperating a little. It's nice to be in the sun for a bit, with the current things going on."
The man smiled, removing his hat as he strolled past the guard. Beneath his hat, two carrot-colored antennae twitched upwards at the sun, almost seeming to have a mind of their own. They were peering curiously at the light, as if it was utterly foreign to them. His skin was a pale green-orange-white color, which seemed to shift in shade as light hit it. He seemed more plantlike than human in truth; a plant shaped into human form rather like a treant. As he extended his hand out, tiny filaments were clearly visible extending for perhaps a fingerlength from his arm; looking somewhere between hair and extremely thin root tendrils.
"Z'kron. Imperial High Sage. And a few other things. Just thought it would be worth a check by. Oh, and this is my bodyguard. Had him for quite a while."
He nodded to indicate the nondescript man on his left, who, while supposedly a master of weaponry, was far from a master of even basic fashion.
"Nice hats they have here. Reminds me a bit of Olympia. Bit more polished than Arios. Ah, Arios. I wonder whatever happened to them? Probably still dancing round that black dome. It's a air-ship in disguise you know... absolutely certain.. mmm"
Shaking his head in bemusement, the sage wandered past the guard.
"Actually, tips. Think that's the custom here. Ten crowns do? Good man."

The Beginning of Spring (II), in the Month of Immanis, Era XIV
The 2nd Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne

Approximately Two Eras Prior:

It wasn't her imagination, she was certain of it now. Desparately tugging wet strands of hair from her eyes, she tried to focus on the path and steer clear of the trees heading for the Charisma Pass, but Whisperingfoot was getting anxious beneath her...and with good reason. The torrent of rain had come down so suddenly that the fast collection of water on the ground scarcely had a chance to soak into the dirt before more appeared, thus it was as if she and her beloved horse were trying to make it across a raging river...a small "river" but raging nonetheless. The hooves she could hear pounding the rain behind her seemed to come ever closer and she could just make out the muffled, angry voices demanding that she stop. Instinctively she knew, stopping wasn't an option.

Tears stung her troubled eyes and fell only to merge with the constant pelting of dirt and rain on her usually pretty face. She'd been lucky she knew, months and months of travel without the protection of being with her husband, Palacrisis. How she longed for the comfort of his reassuring presence now. But she refused to embrace the fact that her luck had run out. She was on the outskirts of the Maevewood just before reaching the Charisma Pass, a notoriously dangerous place to be for travelers. But she'd thought...

It didn't matter what she'd thought, chastising herself for a moment of weakness and fear, she dug her heels into Whisperingfoot's sides and willed him to move faster, “Yahhh! Yahhh!”

She would never know what it was that hit her so hard in the middle of her back, but it was enough to send her falling awkwardly and forcefully from her speeding horse's back, the shock of the force causing Whisperingfoot to stumble and fall to the mud amidst the sickening sound of two cracks...bones breaking J'lyara was sure as she tried to maintain consciousness, the side of her head sporting a bloody gash as it lay against the large rock she'd fallen against. A horrific pain took over her throbbing head as she turned to try and see what was happening around her, burning rain immediately filling her eyes and making it hard.

Whisperingfoot was mercifully being taken out of his misery and the sight of her beloved horse dying, rugged, half-masked men taking everything from her saddlebags, including her Imperial Visa, were the last things she saw before everything went black.

It had taken quite some time before Dara felt ready to leave her adopted family in Abestat. The Hollets had been good to her, very good, but the busy trade city had somehow not felt like home...not in the true sense.

She'd gone out of her way to show them how grateful she was for their having taken her in nearly two eras before when she'd finally managed to drag herself to the gates of the city from the tragic ordeal that had left her devoid of whatever her life had been before it. She'd awakened in the forest, covered in mud, a heavy feeling in her chest that kept her coughing, and no memory...at all of who she was.

The only link to her past that had remained, besides the tattered clothes on her back, had been a ring that fit snugly on the ring finger of her left hand. Looking down at it, as the ship fast approached the Harbor of Celsianna, she fingered the golden vine that she'd become used to daydreaming over. It looked to Dara to be an engagement ring perhaps because of it's unique design...or maybe a wedding ring but how could she be sure? She wasn't, but she hadn't been able to remove it from her hand either. Some day, she fervently hoped she would remember where the ring had come from...or more importantly, who had placed it on her finger.

But it had been two Eras now since that day and she still hadn't recalled her given name, only random flashes from what must have been her life seemed to plague her frequently. It had been a long process trying to get the Provisional Visa she now carried with her. Despite the fact that she could tell the Aedile in Abestat had been attracted to her, he'd made her wait several cycles while he tried to put on some form of investigation into her past. But no one in Abestat recognized her or had reported her missing and so he'd decided to go ahead and give her the Imperial Visa she badly needed, but with it being visibly marked as a provisional one so that her origins would continue to be investigated no matter where she went in the Empire.

Sighing some, Dara looked up as the ship began it's careful maneuver to the dock and she realized something, the entire time she'd been out on the water, aboard the ship, she'd been more at peace than she'd been for almost the entire time she'd been in Abestat. There was something soothing about the water, the dip and sway of being on the sea that calmed her soul. The thought of stepping off the boat filled her with trepidation, even though she could see it was an island of untold beauty spreading out before her wary eyes.

Carrying only one worn leather bag, and dressed in the simple clothing of a commoner, a quiet dress with a full skirt of soft, overwashed brown linen and a cream-colored chemise with a suitably brown bodice cinching her small waist...worn leather straps that seemed close to snapping, Dara stepped off the boat and was quickly ushered to the
Cancello Del Passeggero, holding her Visa in one hand just like the others who had disembarked from the ship at the same time as she. Her hair, an uncommonly vibrant shade of red was swept up into a ponytail high atop her head, wisps that had wrested themselves free of the plain cream-colored clasp clinging to the sides of her moistened face, the faint trace of a medium-sized scar on the right top side near her hair line.

Grateful for every breeze that swished across her face, she smiled at the guard and handed him her Visa, waiting for him to inevitably notice the provision on it...as they always did.

This guard though, seemed quite taken with the worn nature of the straps on her bodice and so didn't notice right away, which did little to relieve Dara's trepidation. “Your name....Signora...?” His eyes seemed able to see straight through her clothing and she shifted uneasily in her boots.

“Dara...Dara Hollet, sir. I'm...I'm here to cater to my interest in learning how to paint...and...and maybe find out who I am.” She couldn't help but hope everytime she entered a different city that someone...somewhere would recognize her and finally fill in the numerous blanks in her memory. She'd heard that this might be a good place for inspiration...inspiration to create and fill the void that near constantly plagued her now.

He looked down at her Visa after her very odd response and furrowed his brow. “What's this? Only provisional...not sure if you're...well, Signora, you'll have to head straight over to the Thanal Tower from here. Announce your presence in the City and give them every detail about this Visa. Every detail Signora...don't leave out a one.”

Not wanting to give the guard any cause for alarm unnecessarily, she readily agreed and made her way on into the city...her mouth indeed dropping in awe at what she saw.

Paradise was relative. Chelseanna was a different type of paradise…different then her beloved woods of Syl’rosya.

But, it –was- paradise.

Glancing back at her husband, she afforded him a soft smile and tender kiss to his cheek. Nimavel Mynendil wasn’t the sort that tolerated –much- public display of affection…but he was usually very receptive of his wife’s affectionate nature, especially recently with the loss of her twin brother, Motito Gil’dae. The pair had been estranged for some time but she was still feeling the loss and weight that his passing laid upon her shoulders.

Nonetheless, life went on and she had responsibilities to tend to. Hence, part of the reason they were in Chelseanna.

Handing over her credentials to the guards, she mentally noted that she had an appointment with the Thane and needed to get directions as soon as possible although she didn’t think his office would be –that- hard to find.

tenth brightening of Cryxatum, Summer in the Second Era in the reign of Milo L'Evienne. Era XIV after the Aethergem fracture

The vortex opened and two men stepped out onto the Cancello Del Passeggero area . One was dressed in the robes of a desert dweller and his hawk like eyes swept the soft luxury of Chelseanna with a sniff of distaste. The other held himself tall his icy blue eyes sweeping the harbour side looking for a pathway through the crowds and the inevitable paperwork that always attended such transitions.

For the moment the beauty and charm of the island was lost on the tall dark man he was impatient to find the reason for his visit. The wait in line was torture but he bore it stoically, his companion slipped his arms into the folds of his robes and said nothing.

Lines move and eventually he handed over his visa proclaiming him governor of Arakmat and he was terse.

“My companion and I are looking for a lady whom I once had the honour to call my wife , I have much to explain to her but that pilgrim is a matter between myself and the lady.”

1st of Cryxatum, Summer Era XIV

It had taken Ythri a long time to get here. The tall half-sea elf had crossed most of the Empire, traveling in a long, slow arc from Taralon, where she had come ashore, up through Prime province and Carmelyn, and finally here to Chelseanna. Always, she had been looking for evidence of her mother, someone who could shed some light on that enigmatic woman's past. She hadn't had any luck, however, and now she was almost out of money again and would have to stop here for a while.

Not that this discouraged her. Ythri was immensely confident that she would find what she was looking for, if not here, then somewhere over the horizon. Although she'd been working on this project for what was starting to be an extensive period of time, the possibility of failing hadn't occurred to her, not even in passing. Time was on her side, she being a half-elf and all, and if it was taking her a little while to find her way, that was only to be expected.

She wasn't carrying much, but she gave a bright smile to the guards anyway. "I've nothing for you to carry, kind sir, but thank you! I'm looking to see if someone I knew ever dashed up here on vacation, and I'm hoping maybe to take some singing lessons while I'm here." These were far and away some of the nicest guards she had met, regardless of their somewhat eccentric choice of headgear, and she gave them a cheerful smile as a sort of arrival present as she handed over her visa.

The guards seemed to react well, for they returned the smile, and the one in the front said, "Very well, Signora!" He returned her paperwork with a flourish. "Enjoy your stay on our island."

"I will!" she responded with a laugh. Then she moved past them and on into the city.

5th of Cryxatum, Summer Era XIV

It took a few moments to get the attention of the guards as he fluttered around and waved them down. If there was a table nearby he would land on it and slowly remove his folded visa from his satchel. It was like trying to unfold a large map for him, but he managed to place it in front of the guards, keeping a foot on it to keep from blowing in the wind.

"Serale! Sorry about the inconvenience, chums! You all can call me Sanquine! I'm here to do a favor for an old friend. Can you point me in the direction of the Fencing School?"

He would cross his arms nonchalantly and tilt his head slightly, curiously looking at the guards. His yellow eyes were bright and his long brown braids were tied together in a metal circle behind him. He wore a pair of poofy red pants with a matching red vest as he waited for a reply. His tone was very cheery and warm, though his arms were rather buff despite his 9" frame.

"Oh... and directions to a bank too, if you could please, dear chum! I don't need a lot to live on, but I think I'll be saving up in order to learn a thing or two about singing. My ol' buddy, Carmelya rest his soul, said this was the best place to find training for music."

Ring Enter Alexis Sapientia

Timestamp: 33 Aperitus, Summer, in the Second Era of the Regency of Milo L'Evienne

Surprise made for a few wonderful events. It was supposed to be a secret, since the fellow who'd ordered it had decided it would do good to check on matters surrepititiously, but it was some fool of a marine who'd done the unthinkable and run up the Imperial Admiral's banner, which was a white standard with a black and crimson stripe running across its length, surmounted by the Imperial Crown. This was soon followed by a crimson banner emblazoned with a golden Imperial Warbird atop two crossed batons, itself surrounded by a wreath of victory. Resplendent, as always, at the stern was the Standard of the Aelyrian Empire.

She was the Aelyrian Fighting Ship Sovereign of the Seas, a typical frigate of the same class that had withstood the siege of Jaedexia eras ago, nondescript, in effect, but with a handpicked crew and best weapons available. Making her way south from the Imperial City, she soon entered the harbor, to the bewildered (no doubt) reactions of many a ship captain, particularly those belonging to the Imperial Classis. Not too far arrived two more ships, the Constantia and the Parsimonia, namesakes of frigates that had been recently sunk, but now recommissioned from those mothballed at Solace Isle, as well as a familiar vessel, close to his heart, the AFS Majestic.

The Porto with its six wharves would prove difficult, but the Classis boys knew how to wait their turn at the line.

The Guards here had funny hats, and when it was his turn to give his reply, it would be as pragmatic as it was simple.

"Business or pleasure? Maybe both."

Alexis Sapientia, Imperial Minister of War, and concurrent Imperial Admiral, was here.

First Week of Kalendryas

Fenn had made it to Chelseanna by boat from Estelgorod and then through the canal to the Cancello Del Passeggero. His entire trip by water had amazed him, for he had never been to Eunesia before and it was truly a sight to be seen. Lately, Fenn's only experience on the high seas had been aboard a pirate vessel. And after he was thrown off, well, he had sworn off sea voyages with any company less than the Imperial Navy. Still, the voyage from Estelgorod to Chelseanna was short and he was with a boatload of other visitors to the island province.

The glistening white buildings were quite lovely in their appearance, cleverly decorated and new to the eye. Fenn had been around for several hundred eras, so anything new to his eye brought with it excitement of the unknown. While standing on the docks of the Cancello Del Passeggero, he couldn't help but feel like he was on vacation... the atmosphere was so relaxed and fresh, the smell of salt water and the sound of seagulls in the air. It was, simply put, beautiful.

With his lute strapped to his back and a single large duffle bag, Fenn made his way toward one of the decorated guards on duty. Their hats were almost too silly to take them seriously, but a guard was a guard and at least some were fully capable of their duties. Fenn was traveling light for an elven noble, but the truth was, he was coming to live here in Chelseanna, at least for a while and he could be purchasing clothes and needs here in the local stores.

"Why have you come to Chelseanna?" the guard asked, his accent thick.

"I've come on business... to get one going so to speak," he said as he retrieved his visa and handed it to the guard.

The guard looked at the visa and immediately a light went off in his mind. He knew of the Gil'daes, quite well in fact. They had vacationed here before and the head of House Gil'dae had not long ago come to Chelseanna and started a tea shop which many were talking about. This elf was elven nobility.

"Yes, of course, lord Gil'dae, this way..." he said with a big, welcoming smile. "Are you in need of any assistance? Shall I call someone to carry your bag or do you need directions?"

Fenn grinned, his family's reputation had proceeded him. "Thank you, but I can carry my bag. I would have someone bring me my horse, it is aboard the ship. And directions I could use... which way to the Aedile?"

The guard smiled, ushering Fenn toward the city, whistling to another guard and making a signal, "Of course, the Thanal tower will have all of the information you need... it's the large tower ahead, you can't miss it my lord." The other guard rushed to retrieve Fenn's horse and brought it to him shortly.

Fenn thanked him and walked into the city, "And to the Thanal tower it is then," he thought to himself.

35th brightening ~ Cryaxtum Era XV

Following the events in the Palace

They had slipped away from the palace and in a quiet back street of the capitol the bearded sorcerer from Arakmat had folded space and time and deposited them in Kaldira. It had taken a few candlemarks for Imperatis D Jones to change into Baron Austerfield of Sheria and a few more to hire an ocean going yacht for a ridiculous sum of money to transport the pair to Chelseanna. The money did not matter he was under a direct order from the prince, the 26th Legion military intelligence budget might suffer but Admiral Sapienta would not quibble this time.

He was charged with gathering intelligence on the mystery of the disappearance of Nell and it would not help his case if he wandered around in full military uniform. No he was the baron on a short trip to the islands for a little fun and recreation.

The yacht had ploughed north under fair winds making good time and they had cruised north to Chelseanna before mooring at the dockside. Pala had decided that he would keep yacht and crew for as long as it took to complete his investigation , he could not tell if he might need to use it again so the captain and crew were well paid and faced having to enjoy themselves in what ever delights the port offered.

Dressed in white trousers a red silk shirt and a cream duster with soft ankle boots Pala walked down the gangplank and suffered the attentions of the guards m he handed over his visa and explained in a drawl …..Pleasure my dear boy always wanted to see what the islands offered a man of means and the time to enjoy it

He flipped a couple of crowns to the guards and … have a drink on me when you are finished lads ,…Baron Austerfield of Sheria recognises good lads when he sees them

Hassan Bey the master sorcerer had reluctantly agreed to play the role of servant and together they made their way immediately towards …..Laertes Vidocai, the Podesta of Chelseanna.

Anvael Andares is an upstanding Citizen
35th brightening ~ Cryaxtum Era XV

Anvael had been born on Ieffreon and spent most of his life there, but he had never been on any of the other Eunesian islands. He had gone zombie hunting in Medonia, he had been aedile in Mystique and Governor of Sherian – he had more adventures than most people his age – but he hardly knew his home province, apart from the island where he had been born. Now, at nearly 80 ordinations of age, he had decided to amend that.

The war with the orcs was over. Anvael had the feeling that he could have handled it much better, but regardless of his performance, he needed some time off, some time to relax and think about the future, about what he wanted to do now. There were just so many things that had gone wrong, and he learned a few things about the so called good people that ruled the Empire as well …

With its canals and the white buildings the city of Chelseanna was beautiful, more beautiful than Ieffreon was at the moment. There, the bay had been reduced to a mass of sand and dried seaweed, and you had to walk into the harbour rather than going there on a hsip. The volcano in the background especially caught the Esh’lahier’s attention. He wondered if it was safe to walk there, to climb it. When he had been younger, he had done that all the time, travel around and explore …

And then they had finally arrived, and Anvael walked down the gangplank and found himself facing the guards. He showed them his visa and explained, “I’m just spending my holiday here.” With Anvael was a tiny white dog that jumped up and down excitedly around the guards, so happy that it finally had stable ground under its paws again. It didn’t like ships, not at all.
