Amitiel Petrov
Truly a diamond in the rough, or perhaps more a ruby on account of her dark rosy tresses, Amitiel is a short and demure teenage girl, though nonetheless very pretty. Most people first notice her hair, which although not rare, isn't particularly common, straight auburn strands cascade effortlessly over her peachy complexion in a sensible tidy manner, unlike the usual fiery redheads her hair is neatly tied and well-behaved, a reflection on the girl herself. Her exquisite little face is framed neatly by her red mane, pale lips, deep mahogany eyes, and petite fine features give her somewhat of a well-bred countenace despite her local beginnings. Most oft her eyes wear a sober expression to the point of being distant even, she is a reserved girl and nothing she does hides it as she rarely smiles and her voice is a quiet and sombre melody rarely showing any excitement or heightened emotion. By most standards she isn't the prettiest girl in her school, but her distinct appearance and mannerisms set her apart from the usual ruffian Imperia lasses that frequent the area.

Amitiel had a typical childhood, at least for Imperia, her mother was a self-hating alcoholic, and her father was a self-hating fisherman gambling addict. Being the sole-breadwinner he spent little time at home and this split the family somewhat, and with inebriation being her mother's second love Amitiel learned from an early age to simply keep herself out of the way, particularly when father came home and the arguements began. It continued for some years, gradually both of them slipped more and more into their habits which required more and more coin, Amitiel had to get by on slim nourishment at best and seeing her present skinny form that fact is obvious. Eventually she grew, and learned to speak from her teachers rather than her parents, so she lost her local dialect and gained somewhat of a sweet scholarly tone to her voice. At her first school they were kind to all the children, being second fathers and mothers, even offering free lessons when coin was short, they were also quick to share what little food they had to spare. In the end Amitiel did as most other children in Imperia do, she scraped her way into Adolescence.

At the ages of ten through sixteen Amitiel grew, albeit very little, she switched schools and lost contact with most of the kind teachers she once knew and viewed as her only friends. In this new school she went thankfully unnoticed, her frail figure wouldn't stand up to the rigours of Imperia bullying anyway, yet the teachers paid her little heed. There were more important children to attend to in her class and she being a simple fisherman's daughter gained little attention, despite her obvious latent intelligence. She quickly discovered the joys of reading and submerged herself in the library, this served not only to further her knowledge but to keep her away from home, she even kept up a small library of her own, copying the handwritten texts in the library so she could continue reading when it was closed. She didn't much notice her apparent skill at writing in someone else's hand, but perhaps it was a skill that might come in handy later.
The most important event in this time frame is the death of her parents though, the cold and sensible girl was struck harder than she expected by this, having returned home one day to find the guards had blocked off her home. Her parents merely disappeared from her life in the span of one day, she never even saw their bodies, she simply ran away, until she found a secluded spot and cried her way through the night. Luckily for her she had developed a slight friendship with the austere librarian who knew of a room above a family that she could rent for a small fee each month. She started doing odd jobs like cleaning and organising the books in the library and in turn the Librarian helped her out with coins for the rent. When it came around to the funeral, she hadn't enough to pay for a proper burial and so her parents were lost into a pit of other dead misfortunates. Amitiel hadn't even the stomach to attend.
Her life dredged on as normal, but a turn of fate had a teacher discover her apparent intelligence, and when she was finished with middle school, she was admitted on merit into one of the better schools in the city, perhaps there she might flourish.
