Kella Greeran is an upstanding Citizen
Lyre Kella J. Greeran

PC Name:
Kella Jestarina Greeran

Race:
Human, Vagaran

Age:
20

Height:
5'4"

Weight:
115, but she'll never tell

Physical Description:

Fair with straight, blonde hair cropped at the chin. Lithe and average in height with long fingers, good for sleights of hand.

Her smiles are usually wry and half cocked, and her steel blue eyes often spark with a cheeky glint. When she grows serious, her eyes appear to deepen to a gray color, but this effect is not to be trusted for a mark of sincerity. Absolute control of expression and tone is a necessary talent for a jester, as you must frolic and laugh for your food and drink even when your heart is heavy.

Though usually hidden, her arms & shoulders are covered in vibrant tattoos. One arm is strictly floral with climbing red roses, morning glories, fuchsia clematis, persimmon honeysuckle, and other such bright things winding through each other.
The other arm is an evening sky that transitions from black at the top to midnight blue, to indigo, to purple. Complete with silver and gold constellations. Her first visit to the tattoo artists and his eccentric mage helper is somewhat hazy, but smells distinctly of an ex-beau and too much whiskey. Never one to leave a job half done, she continued to return until the swirls and layers of ink merited admiration.

Overall, she looks more playful and rakish than beautiful, and seems more clever than sweet.

Personality:

Two slightly different Kellas take their turns according to the circumstances she finds herself embroiled in, but no matter the incarnation there is always a touch of humor be it wry and observational or lively and teasing. In all things, she has a loud conscience that perpetually steers her towards the "right" thing, even when her sense of self-preservation would rather ignore the voice calling her to be honorable.

While on military business, she is somewhat guarded and prefers to analyze a situation before charging in headlong. Aware that her gender can be a liability in her work, she does her best to present herself firstly as a soldier and then as a female. Her dress and looks are spartan and modest, even when off duty amidst fellow Legionnaires.
On rare occasions, she has been caught wearing something overtly feminine near the base, but she denies it vehemently before demanding the name of what ignoramus claimed to see such a thing.

In her personal affairs, Kella is a mite livelier but can deliver an occasionally philosophical line on the whims of fate and the importance of pursuing good. Still unable to shake old habits, she is often purposefully comical in attempts to cheer others, whether it be a joke at her own expense, a creative swear or juggling shot-glasses. Due to her less than comfortable background and expansive travels, she is fully aware of the brevity and brutality of life, but instead of turning bitter over it, Kella endeavors to lighten the moment.

Worn Garb:

After years of wearing ridiculous clothes appropriate for a little jester, Kella is thrilled to have access to leggings and belted tunics in black, gray and earth tones. Especially lovely to her is the idea of real boots instead of belled slippers. This is when she is not donning her military uniform.

History:

A little known fact is that if a noble’s personal jester decides to have a family, the offspring becomes a whole brood of little jesters. They are property of the noble. Kella’s jester father would tease that it was much like having royal blood, you were born into greatness. But greatness through the bloodline does not last forever. When Kella was still young, their patron noble was overthrown and his menial staff scattered.

The small family of four jesters soon found employment with a traveling circus troupe of Air'rielas. Kella’s jester training continued and she grew accustomed to singing for her bread at all hours of the day and in all manner of situations.

The Jester rubric was no light thing. Apart from the ability to not be embarrassed while in a garish costume, jesters had to learn all manners of entertaining: sleights of hand, acrobatics, riddles and ripostes, an instrument, and incredible improvisation when it came to the spoken word. When you lived and ate at the whim of nobles and the crowd you learned quickly how to read and judge those around you. And how to always appear less cunning than you truly were.

Eventually, Kella grew tired of this. She was tired of doing headstands while reciting bawdy prose. Tired of moving from place to place. Tired of being treated like a strange toy, almost devoid of humanity. Tired of missing meals. She wanted structure, something solid. So when she got the chance, she ran away from the circus to join the military.

More Than You ever Wanted to Know About Kella:

Physical

1. What does your name mean to you?

Well it's rather easy to say and lends itself to disastrous nicknames, Kell-bells anyone? My middle name is typical of my father's sense of humor and pride in his craft. I simply pretend my middle name is "J.". Thanks Dad, as if I didn't get enough crap already for my motley.

2. If you could change one physical thing about yourself, what would it be?

Change? I'm a goddess among women. Alright, you can stop laughing now, it wasn't that funny. I wouldn't mind having bigger... eyes, mine squint when I smile.

3. Describe your hairstyle in detail.

Well, it's a lighter blonde, Vagaran blood, and cut pretty bluntly round the tip of my chin. I have really straight hair, but there's a lot of it, so its always slipping towards my eyes.

Relational

1. How would you describe your family?

Oh gods. Everyone is a personality. Between us all, I'm looked at as one of the tamest, which is really dreadful. My Dad can't stay in one place for over two cycles and my brother, Kellor, caught that. My mum is dedicated to us, but can scold like no other. Her voice is with me whenever I make a foolish decision. Overall, we laugh at the world, at each other and our circumstances.

2. Who is your confidant?

I'm a private person. I used to tell my brother plenty, but he's hard to find nowadays, so I don't have a confidant anymore. Unless you count, oh ominous questioning voice.

3. What's your relationship like with your sibling?

Kellor? I'd do anything for him. Anything. And he capitalizes on that. Not purposefully, but no one can instigate trouble like he can. I once told a fellow, not only does Kellor upset the apple cart, he sets it on fire and dances around it like a savage.
You'd think I was the older sibling.

4. Do you have a lover or spouse?

No, I don't. I'm a bit busy with my work. I like to look, though, and have a bit of a thing for a few fellows of my acquaintance. Some of which will never give me the time of day, but there's no harm in wishing.

5. Tell me about your friends/ acquaintances.

Well, I don't get out much anymore, so the list is short.

Eyvind or "Captain Aelyria" or "Ginger" as I call him is a massive red-haired Vagaran. Lud, I didn't know they made them that big. I feel like I'm 11 ordinations around him. We trained together for Jade.

He's probably my closest pal right now, but there's a complication or two to that. One of them being he manages to get me into trouble without even trying, the other is that he's a teensy bit taken with me.
Despite it all, if I had to move a dead body for some mysterious reason, he'd help no questions asked. He's that sort of friend.

Valanthia is a pale haired, grey skinned Elf mix, with rather posh connections. I think I flatter myself to call us friends, but I'm fond of her. Smart as a whip, a little shy and wears purple very well. Helped me out of a jam regarding statues, gardens and ghosts and other such interesting things.

It is my personal mission to take her out for a darkening of irresponsibility. If anyone needs to be gotten drunk, it's this girl.

Cyrus is another fellow Jade recruit. Will anyone hear or see my answers? No? Promise? Well then, between you and I, I will say he's a bit of a looker, even though I'm not partial to blondes.
Always seems rather somber, though, as if perpetually concerned by something bigger and darker than the rest of us. I got him to lighten up once and surprisingly, he has a sense of humor.
Oh, he's a good man to have in a fight.

Favorites

What is your favorite...

1. Flower:

Are you going to get me some? Well, I like Dahlias and Morning Glories. When I'm feeling more sophisticated it's yellow roses with the crimson edges.

2. Season:

Spring. Especially when it rains and the air gets all cold and crisp, and my birth brightening is around then.

(To Be Continued)

What If's?

What If...

1. You were told you were going to fulfill a great prophecy, what would you do?

Laugh then ask if they meant some other "Kella Greeran".

2. Someone took the last piece of something you wanted, what would you do?

Depends on the thing, likely swear in Aire and shake my fist at them, and then I'd forget about it.

3. Someone told you, you had a mental illness?

I'd say, 'nobody's perfect'.
