Phoebe Verges

Race: half human, half lightborn elf

Age: 30 ordinations (looks to be the equivalent of 17 ordinations for humans)

Physical Description:

Rather short, just over five foot really. Rather thin, boyish figure, but any womanly curves she might have are disguised by the oversized man's shirt she wears. Past the shoulders, jet black hair, rather messy but not unsightly, currently worn in many braids. Large violet eyes which rarely blink, and a heart shaped face. Full, sweet lips, although a small mouth. Elven heritage can be seen in the slight points to her ears the lithe frame.

Wears one of the following outfits:
  • Along with the large, dark green shirt, she wears loose grey trousers over a scruffy pair of black boots and a dark grey short coat that falls to her hips, the cuffs covering half her hands. A battered satchel is carried at her side containing her worldly goods. Two of her stilleto daggers are tucked into her boots. When travelling the Empire, Phoebe carries a large back pack containing a standard adventuring kit, using a pitchfork as a staff to help her on her way.
  • Alternatively she might be garbed in a near-white chemise with short puffed sleeves, over which is bound a black twill bodice and a long, full, dark grey skirt.
  • When trying to impress and smarten up, Phoebe will get out the deep blue skirt and top with matching coat, styled in the simple Demiosian fashion, and knee high leather boots.
  • Pirate garb - brown leather pants tucked into boots that held two stiletto daggers, an off-white shirt with flouncing sleeves and ruffles at the open neck, cinched in with a brown leather waistcoat, a wide belt slung around hips with a plain brass buckle which kept the cutlass hanging to her right side. A large green frock coat with wide turned up cuffs and big lapels, which tended to dwarf her. She’d finished her ensemble off with two scarves: an emerald green bandana which was wrapped around her head and tied at the back, its tails hanging down to fall with her raven locks, leaving her slightly pointed ears exposed; the other a longer scarlet scarf which was tied about her right thigh.

The Adventures of Phoebe (the short version)

Pre- game History

Phoebe was brought up for the most part by her Jaedaxian grandmother, whom she called Beatrice and Phoebe often remembers her wise words. Father provided the elvish heritage. Phoebe has few memories of her mother - indeed one might say these memories have been repressed. All she will admit is that her mother is dead. Phoebe has no idea what happened to her father, as he was never spoken of. She was brought up in a small village close to Acumin. One brightening Beatrice sent Phoebe out into the world, to travel to Diana and become a priestess! However ...

Game history

Spring/summer/autumn of era X
Phoebe went to Vortex by mistake. Never trust a halfling to give you reliable directions. She spent five months in Vortex, working at an inn where she earned a pittance of a wage but was given free board and food. Her duties included serving customers, cleaning, and working in the kitchens. She enjoyed the last part the most and in particular the preparation of the meat. She got quite good with the cleaver and thinks nothing now of wringing a chicken's neck. However time rolled on and even an odd little half elf can get bored of chicken guts and pigs trotters. On reading the Herald one brightening she saw something that caught her eye and before you could say jimmeny cricket, she had started out for Port Constantine ... taking with her the uniform that the tavern had given her and her favourite meat cleaver. Well, you never know when they might come in handy.

Winter of era XI

Arriving in Port Constantine on brightening 27, Phoebe took a room at the Boarhouse Inn and began investigating the businesses for sale as advertised in the Herald, with a particular interest in a funeral parlour. So far this has lead to a date with a half-elf from the Merchants Guild (thread ongoing) where she is trying to learn more about the funeral parlour to see if its possible to buy. She's been told she can buy it for 20,000 crowns and is now inspecting the property on her date. Yay for decomposing corpses abandoned in the funeral parlour. Bad news was her date became possessed by something shadowy and evil, and tried to kill her. She retaliated with a mallet and chisel and is currently bludgeoning her date (to death? dunno, thread unfinished). What actually happened in the end remains a black hole in Phoebe's memory.

Asides from that she's learnt how to juggle three balls and three clubs from a lutran in the Constantine Courtyard and is sightseeing. Currently chatting to a pale, clumsy elf at the beach. He was a nice guy but a bit odd.

Spring of era XI

First cycle of Immanis, wandered into the Constantine Training Park and arranged basic training in dual wield daggers (Evan'daetir peer modding). With that completed her trainer, this rather nice elf called Nightingale offered to continue her training further, which she was very happy to accept, although the training was cut short when Nightingale was called away.

Some time spent in Abestat, in the second cycle of Immanis, where Phoebe is doing some shopping for juggling equipment and checking out training opportunities in undertaking. The rest of Immanis taken up with practising her juggling skills to improve accuracy and basic skill (self-mod).

Most of Ponutis was taken up with trekking across the Empire to Imperia, arriving there at the start of Melora. There she was directed to The Crafty Crow, the worst tavern in town, where she picked up a job as a waitress and was told to keep her mouth shut and be a good girl. She also checked out opportunities for extra cash at the Westgate Arena and was offered 50 crowns a performance. Only problem is her act would be kinda short so she hooked up with other entertainers to work up an act. There was also some kind of masked ball happening soon so Phoebe was on the out look for a costume that will suit the ball and double up for her act. In the end she decided to skip the ball due to wanting to get out of town (see below) but did spend some time honing her juggling skills with a circus troupe.

At the end of Melora, Phoebe discovers that a gang called the Hooded Claw owns the tavern where she works - and that the tavern is doubling as a brothel. She's a tad upset and confused.

Summer of Era XI

After a cycle of dithering about what to do about accidently being in the employ of a notorious gang at the Crafty Crow, Phoebe ditched the job and headed East ... arriving in Demios!

Yay, an island!

Following her usual pattern, Phoebe found herself a job in a tavern, The Leap of Faith, working behind the bar. She is also staying there, paying for a poor room for 10 crowns a cycle. Currently buying some new clothes, attending the Festival of Dragons and joining in the Thane's wedding celebrations. She had her fortune told at the wedding where she was told that she would be faced with a decision between good and evil and that her shadow follows her even at midnight. Nice!

Future plans undecided but could involve getting some training in herbalism and looking for the Demios dragons - just to prove to the assistant aedile that they do exist. Has bought an adventuring kit for a jaunt into the countryside as well as books on juggling, tracking, dragons and gods. She's currently getting drunk and discussing the trip with Aydyn, a Cether called Wade, some chick called Tyna and a blind man. It's going to be a blast

Alas, good intentions came to naught. Phoebe wasted the summer in Demios, not fulfilling any of her great plans and came to the conclusion that she was a very bad half-elf, all in all. Rather than try and address why she couldn’t commit to anything long term, she decided to move on, taking a passage to the Northern provinces on a merchant ship. Misadventure was around the corner though and the ship was wrecked on the rocks of a desert island after Sirens had enchanted the crew. Few survivied and Phoebe sat, each brightening, looking for passing ships and trying not to kill the two crewmen whose stupidity exceeded her patience.

Rescue beckoned in the form of the Black Dolphin, a pirate ship from Terramarique - however those Sirens had other plans. Cue fight with singing wenches.

Autumn of Era XI

Having found herself on Terramarique and with job opportunities being scarce for a girly, Phoebe decides to not sign on at the local whorehouse or tavern, but instead to join the pirates! Accepted as part of the crew of the Thorny Rose, the training ship of the pirate fleet under Lord Dupry, she throws herself into being the best damned pirate a half-elf can be and tries to develop a taste for rum and singing shanties.

Winter of Era XII and the rest of the era

With the Pirates of Terramarique abandoning the island, Phoebe sails with the pirate fleet to the fine city of Imperia! There she continues to live below decks on the Black Dolphin, and spends some time roaming the streets. Entertained the idea of getting hitched to the foppish Rodrigues Deslates - owner of the Westgate Arena. Alas, it was not to be. However Phoebe did experience her first proper snog so all was not lost. The era was squandered on sleeping, drinking, and slipping into a lethargy as Phoebe watched the world go by.

Winter of Era XIII

Phoebe arrived in Nexus Prime via ferry to watch the city be attacked by vysstichi and pirates. She witnessed a dragon defend the city. She also believed the world was coming to an end and squirrelled herself away in a flop house for a month and a half. On emerging she decided to write to her Grandmother. She also decides to have a proper wash at the public baths where she meets some women of the city and in another encounter gets to grope the backside of a young man who buys her a meat pie. Life is good.

Spring of Era XIII

Still in Nexus Prime, Phoebe gets a tattoo of a dragon and is recruited into the West Wardens. Hurrah!

Autumn of Era XIV

After an era of latrine digging in the West Wardens, Phoebe leaves said military organisation none the wiser and continues her travels. Where she will end up next is anyone's guess.
