Odyleon Q. Meiers
PC Name:
Odyleon Q. Meiers
Race:
Human (Medonian)
Age
26
Physical Description:
Standing at about 6 feet, Ody's height is therefore taller than average, but it is his lithe and seemingly fragile build, not exactly muscular, that makes him look even taller, almost lanky; clearly, he is the kind of man who favors brains over brawn. Eternally uncombed, spiky black hair matches ink black eyes, constanly darting about in curiosity. The rest of his face is very average, with correct proportions but nothing more, neither handsome nor ugly. Delicate, but nimble hands, worthy of a surgeon, completely foreign to manual labor. Always dressed in a patched-up grey tunic and matching cloak and fingerless gloves. Brown, worn out boots complete the untidy and rather anonymous-looking persona.
History:
Odyleon was supposedly born as the seventh son to a couple of farmers somewhere in the Primus wilderness. As a peasant, his life had already been decided at his birth; to sweat under the Three Suns for the rest of his life, eventually inheriting a portion of the family lands or sharing them with his brothers. However, it did not took long for everyone to realize that Ody was deeply different from the rest of them; while his brothers were introduced to the responsibilities of farming and started to learn the ways of their life, he would spend his brightenings in the stable, reading books borrowed from the neighbors or the local library, or hearing stories from passing bards. He soon came to hate the life destiny had reserved for him; a life with no ambitions other than surviving, a life at the same time free and enslaved, tranquil and petty.
Of course, his attitude and disposition had soon made him the black sheep in his family, and he was laughed at by the whole community as a good-for-nothing, a lazy youngster who was causing his parents' hair to grow white with worry. Quite simply, he refused to work. He thought. He thought for era's and patterns. And when he stopped thinking, at the age of 22, he judged that his time there was over. He would leave the house, forever. By doing so, he renounced to every right of succession or inheritance on his family goods, but his parents were kind enough to gift him with a small hovel they owned in Alleria Prime, a few Crowns and some rations. With that, Ody was on his own, with the order not to come back unless he became someone to be proud of.
He left without even saying 'goodbye' to his brothers, without writing a line, without looking back. He left, travelled to the nearest city and had his last name changed to 'Meiers' (he never revealed his original name to anyone), and a middle initial, Q, added (which does not actually stand for anything). Then, he headed to Prime, where his troubled days began. Whatever happened, good or bad, it would be entirely his choice, and the mistakes were his to make and bear.
It's hard to describe Ody with a few words. He is at the same time kind and ambitious, selfish and ironic, naive and loyal, curious and prone to mistakes. What drives him forward, though, is his belief that his good is the good of the world, that by becoming stronger himself, other people will benefit. Ody's self-proclaimed profession of "problem solver" embodies this duality, as he essentially helps people out to make money, and makes money to help people out. Ody does lack wisdom and will fix a mistake by making a worse mistake, but his heart knows no malice and feels no hatred, even though he is sometimes driven by his thirst for justice. He is quite the intellectual type but despises bookworms and the established cultural elite; he respects the laws but won't think twice before breaking them if he thinks he is right. His ego is reasonably large, and he is quite proud of his achievements, but at the same time he can admit his weakness and be humble when facts prove otherwise. Officially, his dream is to become powerful and respected throughout the lands, and make the echoes of his deeds reach the forgotten corner of the Empire where he was born. But at the core, Ody knows he's just moving forward because he can neither stand still nor return to a past that is not his own.
All in all, Ody is a lot of fun to RP.

Quote:
|
It remained the long thin rod of wood, the sides smooth, the hue a silver tinged with blue, the orb budding from one end. No changes were immediately perceived except for a gradual thickening of the shaft at the opposite end to the orb. Whether this was for a counterbalance to the orb, or was simply a base to help keep the staff upright when stored, this end spread out to form a stabilizing disk. It would be only when this foot was examined more closely that the faint etching of a snake, coiled into a figure of eight and swallowing its own tail, would be seen stamped into the bottom of the staff.

Major Items/Equipment:
An Imperial visa, a tent, a bedroll, a backpack, a map of the Empire, a map of Prime Princ., a fishing rod with hooks and twine, travel rations for 18 days. (All purchased at Thunderhammer's General Supplies in Alleria Prime)

Arcana
Sphere and Level: Mysticism, Master
NOTE: As a consequence of time travel and spellcasting in the Isle of the Crown adventure, Odyleon has become a Tempomancer, a Time Mage. This means he has access to the Plane of Time and can weave time into Mystic spells without the need for reagents; however, he cannot really control this ability for the time being (no pun intended.) He has been told that he can master this skill if he find his true destiny, which has been hinted at through a short vision.

APPRENTICE
Techniques:
-Reshape Mana*
-Activate*
-Circle of Magic*
Custom Techniques:- Infinity Seal (Creation)
The Infinity Seal is a Circle of Magic derivative. Shaped in the form of a lemniscate (the infinity sign) and raised in a similar fashion to the Circle of Magic, it allows to surround the two halves of it with opposite force fields, one half keeping things out and one keeping things in. It is, in fact, a Circle of Magic raised upon a degenerate shape, half of which drawn clockwise, and half counterclockwise. The caster can choose which half of the seal will prevent outward travel and which will prevent inward travel. The fields are not autonomous and share the same energy, collapsing together if hit beyond their tolerance. There is a tiny singularity point in the middle where the two fields connect and cancel each other; it is however very small and difficult to notice. Those who know its existence can use it to cast spells into the half-lemniscate that prevents travel in. This technique is useful for raising or summoning spells performed in a hostile environment, achieving dual protection with one circle.

-Alliance*
-Animation*
-Cripple
-Psionic Shock*
-Mesmerise*

Custom Spells:- Vocalize (Creation)
Duration: Temporary
Targets: Single – Self
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
The Mystic delves into his memories and brings a sensorial detail into reality. This can range anywhere from a sound to a smell or taste, and at higher levels one can re-enact whole scenes of the past.
~
- Identify (Creation)
Duration: Instant
Targets: Single – Item
Range: Touch
The mystic may draw upon the astral image of an object and, in doing so, gain knowledge of the item he is curious about, usually in the form of images and strong emotions. (Pre-Aetherfracture spell, rebuilt)
~
- Mystic Marionette (Creation)
Duration: Instant
Targets: Single – Other
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
By reshaping Psionic Shock, the Mystic can induce controlled spasms in the body that will move the target's limbs as the caster wishes, for a few seconds.
~
- Nightmare (Creation)
Duration: Temporary
Targets: Single – Other
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
Improving upon Mesmerize, the Mystic can short-circuit someone's mind onto itself, temporarily disconnecting it from reality and exposing it to a sequence of feelings and visions - typically horrible - that seem far longer in the dream than in actuality.
~
- Grandeur (Creation)
Duration: Temporary
Targets: Single – Item
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
The Mystic imbues an item with mana, making it seem artificially important or valuable. Minds in the area will be greedily attracted to the item and will often try to own or consume it.
JOURNEYMAN
Techniques:
-Imbue Spell*
-Create Spell*
-Unbind*
Spells:
-Illusion Greater*
-Alacrity*
-Astral Transcendence*
-Paralysis*
-Beguile
-Warp Mind
-Berserk
-Attunement*
-Obscure
-Marchantria*
Custom Spells:- Coffee Jolt (Creation)
Duration: Instant
Targets: Single – Self or Other
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
By instilling regenerative Psionic power into a mind, the Mystic can effectively produce the same effects as a few candlemarks' sleep. Actual rest is recommended between two castings.
~
- Nous [Masterpiece] (Creation)
Duration: Temporary
Targets: Single – Location
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
Pr. "noose". Creates a semi-sentient, independent, blob-shaped being that will serve the caster for the duration of the spell. The creature possesses typical Elemental traits such as dealing Psionic damage on contact and being only vulnerable to magic and magical weaponry. There are two ways to construct the spell, but generally the caster links the Nous to his own mind so that the creature will know and remember everything he does. By using the caster's mind as a repository, what a Nous does and learns can be remembered by future summonings.
~
- Soma (Creation)
Duration: Temporary
Targets: Single – Corpse
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
A Soma is a Nous that uses a recent corpse as its shell instead of a blob of raw Psionic energy. The Mana induces contractions in the dead muscles, causing the body to move as desired, much like strings on a puppet. For the rest, it works just like a Nous and possesses the same intelligence. While this may be confused as a zombie, a Soma is an artificial creature; as it is not Necromantic in nature, the corpse needs to be recent, but is not particularly sensitive to silver or Thaumaturgy.
~
- Architect (Creation)
Duration: Special
Targets: Single – Self or Other + Spell
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
An Architect is a Nous that attaches itself to someone's mind and slowly absorbs energy from it in order to fuel another spell of Mysticism (and also keep itself alive). The target will feel tired faster than usual and will need to eat more, but the target spell is constantly repaired to counter its normal dissipation process, making it virtually permanent. The Architect is given blueprints for the spell to be monitored, so the caster needs to know that spell. The Architect will only repair a spell that is within about 50 meters of its location, and will suspend the process if the spell is unavailable until it shows up again.
~
- Cognizance (Creation)
Duration: Temporary
Targets: Single – Self or Other
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
Cognizance is a highly evolved form of Awareness. Consisting of multiple Awareness weaves resonating at different frequencies and placed orthogonally to each other, it is much more effective in discovering hidden spells, even those cloaked with the use of Suggestions, because each weave returns a slightly different result and that noise builds up until it breaks the mental conditioning of the suggestion.
MASTER
Techniques:
-Impart
-Improvise
Spells:
-Absorb
-Memory Wipe
Custom Spells:- Apomimon (Creation)
Duration: Temporary
Targets: Single – Other
Range: Touch or Close Proximity
An Apomimon (Eunesian for 'fake') is currently the pinnacle of Odyleon's achievements in the field of Arcanic Intelligence. It is an advanced Nous which can enter the target's mind and copy their memories, feelings and personality, adding them to its own. This process can take a lengthy amount of time and currently poses risks to the integrity of the subject's memories - Ody needs more experience with this spell. Still, the result is a mind resembling that of the copied target, and only someone who were closely acquainted with the original would be able to tell them from the fake. This spell only provides a mind; the body has to be created separately with another spell such as Animation. The Apomimon acts like the original but knows it is a fake and it must obey the caster. Cannot cast any Arcana that the target has; the amount of transferred skills varies (and is decided by the moderator).

The Questionnaire - everything you always bla bla bla - prompted by GM Nachende
Part 1: The Basics
Note: Thanks to GM Gossamer's fantabulous work on developing Ody's past, the information in this section is now outdated, incomplete and incorrect in many parts.
1. What is your full name?
Odyleon Q. Meiers. He was born Odyleon Stoneturner.
2. Where and when were you born?
He was born near Candaceburg about 26 ordinations ago. A rural community without a name.
3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
Peasants. I really did not develop them any further than this, which is kind of an oddity since I am detail-obsessed about my PCs' personalities.
4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
Eight, obnoxious little things, except they are bigger than him. They do not even qualify as tertiary NPCs though.
5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
He lives with his fiancée Robyn Caliban and her daughter Angel, though the place has a tendency to change. One brightening it can be Taralon, and then the other side of the known world.
6. What is your occupation?
Good question! Formally unemployed after retirement from political office; Arcane researcher, truthseeker, detective, problem solver, and part time philosopher. In other words, one who pokes his nose everywhere.
7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
He is a tall human, standing at about six feet, but he looks taller because of a lithe build, typical of a Mage (he has been likened to a sprig of asparagus), with thin and long limbs. His skin is very pale, contrasting deeply with his pitch black hair and eyes. His eyes, in particular, are so dark that it is almost impossible to tell the iris from the pupil, giving them a slightly alien look - also because they are slightly on the large side. His hair used to be messy but he's now taking care of it better and is usually somewhat combed. His facial features are delicate and there is nothing about them that really stands out. He shows virtually no beard growth at all. His hands are long and slender, the hands of a surgeon.
He usually dresses in creamy silks, especially the custom-made cloak embroidened with strange black symbols. The largest stretches across the back and represents two dragons locked in an eternal fight as their bodies form his symbol, the infinity sign.
8. To which social class do you belong?
He technically belongs to the Audacile class (adventurers), formerly a politician for less than one era. He thinks of himself as his own class, though.
9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
Nothing to report, but he is a real Mage, not some dual-hammer-wielding broadsword-swinging martial artist excuse for a Mage. Meaning that fighting, running, lifting weights, and most labor in general is beneath his standards, so his muscles need not such useless mass.
10. Are you right- or left-handed?
Left-handed, and proud to be. It shows in his handwriting.
11. What does your voice sound like?
... average? If anything, smooth and a little on the monotonous side. If he is singing and you aren't covering your ears, you will realize he is technically a tenor. You can rarely tell whether he is serious or not from his voice.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
Many variations on the following... "Want a cookie?", "Forever", "I'll come up with something", "Checkmate", "I have a plan", "Let's play then", "I want the truth", and many more.
13. What do you have in your pockets?
He has six pockets, plus two for tucking his hands into - he had his cloak tailored that way. Usually at least four contain sweets of different denominations - two for cookies, one for chocolate and one for other assorted sweet foodstuff depending on the season and mood. One is for his diamonds, which he usually imbues with magic. One is for whatever he finds that strikes his fancy.
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
Others call them quirks, to him it is all normal. He dresses funny, his body language is springy and exaggerated, and some people find it strange that he likes sweets so much (opsomania). He also talks to his horse, and to himself on occasion.
Part 2: Growing Up
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
Loveless. Too many siblings, too little love to spread among them, and the slight, constant feeling that he was the unwanted guest.
16. What is your earliest memory?
Seeing sunlight through a glass as it projected a strip of colors on a wall, revealing that there is more than the world than meets the eye.
17. How much schooling have you had?
Standard Schola education, followed by extensive Arcanic education and the basics of the science of Alchemy.
18. Did you enjoy school?
Yes and no. It satisfied his curiosity but only to a superficial degree, and he has a problem with trust. He finds it hard to trust a textbook, and needs to check things out with his very eyes. He also has a problem with authority, so he never won a 'student of the Era' award.
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
Most of the learning took place at various academies, but he only discovered the true potential of what he had learnt when he started doing things on his own.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
He had many negative role models, people he did not want to be like - basically everyone around me. Peasants who could see no farther than their fields, who could not even ask themselves questions, let alone answer them. By contrast, Ody's one role model was his uncle Ilfner. He was considered the village idiot because he would let his hens into his house and did a lot of strange things. He was the one who taught young Ody how to play chess and the foundations of strategy and human thought - he was really a misunderstood genius.
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
Badly. He was a constant disappointment for his hard-working family. Work was never his thing, you see. He was mostly ignored by his parents and ganged up on by his brothers and sisters. Only Uncle Ilfner actually cared for him.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
He wanted to be the one who would know everything, should it take him a thousand lifetimes.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Reading, playing chess. Hiding from whatever duty had been assigned to him.
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
He was introverted and rarely spoke unless questioned - and even then, not every time. He possessed a disturbing amount of curiosity on natural phenomena and when he spoke, it was usually to ask a question doomed to not find an answer. He was also lacking religious zeal, which worried the community quite a bit.
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
He was only popular as a target, I suppose. Parents usually advised their kids to not approach him, not that there was any need to. He found kids his age extremely boring and uninteresting, truth be told.
26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
With Robyn Caliban inside an illusionary world of his own making projected into their minds. Ody is a Mystic after all. It was great.
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
Robyn took care of that detail the brightening that they moved to the Thanal Palace of Taralon. Move along, nothing to see here.
28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
He was always fascinated by magic, but he only learned it as an adult. He chose Mysticism because, out of all spheres, it was the only one with a certain strategic factor. While Ody is an accomplished mage with a desire to become an Archmage, he has never truly loved it from the bottom of his heart; however, it gets things done like nothing else in the world, and hardly leaving any traces. He does not have the luxury of choosing how he accomplishes things, and since his objective is to win the game, he can't be fussy over the means to the end.
Part 3: Past Influences
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
To the point of being extremely repetitive, meeting Robyn; his Unbinding comes second.
30. Who has had the most influence on you?
His uncle Ilfner pretty much shaped Ody's character into what it is now. The quirks, the love for strategic thinking, the curiosity, they are all gifts from Ilfner. He was an exceptional chess player, and young Ody never beat him at the game except the very last time. As soon as he announced the mate in five moves, though, Ilfner scrambled the pieces and advised him to leave the village lest he become a wasted person like him.
31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
To have created intelligent life with magic. Interestingly, this is also what he perceives as the most evil thing he has ever done (see #33).
32. What is your greatest regret?
Having been a mere Journeyman at the burning of Narim. With the powers of an Archmage like Duncan Sythe, he is confident that he would have wiped out the Orcs on his own.
33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
To have created intelligent life with magic. This life has the sole purpose of serving him, doing things that he does not want to do himself. These disposable creatures only exist to do his bidding.
34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
No. Maybe he should have one though.
35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
He was on a ship full of people who were pretending to be nice, but were only trying to get him to show them to a treasure, only to kill him afterwards. And he knew it. He had no skills whatsoever at the time. Then he discovered what real fear feels like.
36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
He probably made a fool of himself at the Imperial Ball hosted by Empress Arabella, in front of the most powerful people in the Empire. He spilled a drink on the Justicar of Arium - now Imperial Judicator - Ogabe K'tinga, and then resisted the Knights of the Black Rose as they tried to evacuate the ballroom due to an arcane incident.
37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
What happened, happened. If he changed anything, who's to say things would be better now?
38. What is your best memory?
Anything with Robyn in it.
39. What is your worst memory?
The burning of Narim, with the blood, the screams, the raging Orcs. It was a massacre, and he was a part of it. He wishes he would have been stronger - then he would have ended the war single-handedly.
Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
He is pessimistic in that he believes that the world is rotten. However, he is optimistic in that he believes it has potential for unlimited improvement.
41. What is your greatest fear?
Losing Robyn is his single greatest fear, and Ody is quite paranoid concerning her safety. He may destroy any who give her a bad look, basically.
42. What are your religious views?
The gods exist, and it is a fact everyone has to live with. They also have the Truth and hide it from mankind. He personally finds it impossible to worship such two-dimensional characters, each bent on that one thing they represent - honor, logic, etc. It turns out that he will have to deal with them in the future, though; Ody is not sure how.
43. What are your political views?
The Empire and its laws - it's an ugly fossil, the laws seem designed to make the victim pay and the culprit walk away unscathed. He doesn't believe in the law. The Empire is, however, better than nothing at all, and with Milo in charge, there may be some hope left for it after all.
44. What are your views on sex?
He could have had every girl he wanted thanks to his Mystic powers, but he never did. You need to find the right person first. Or else it just turns sour and bad, like in S'Lon's case.
45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
Definitely. And since Narim, he's been able to do so in cold blood. It is a game of chess, he sets an objective for himself and then starts capturing enemy pieces until he's met it. Creation cannot happen without destruction, and those who would harm the people and values he believes in will find no mercy. He is that black and white.
46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
Turning power against those who do not have it, knowing there will be no consequence from doing so. It is abominable in Ody's opinion.
47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
He used not to, now he does.
48. What do you believe makes a successful life?
A successful life can only be measured by yourself, it is a life that you can look back at with pride.
49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
He is a Mystic, there is always some degree of deception about him, even though it's not usually made from Arcana. However, it's not that he actively hides anything, it's just that he is usually hard to read.
50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
He tries to not have any, but at times it is quite hard. Orcs, eh, shaky ground there. He doesn't usually trust Mystics because he is one.
51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
Hard question, this. While there are certain things he really doesn't like doing, such as outright lying, mind controlling, or bowing to someone else's will, it is mostly situational. The greater priority always takes precedence.
52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
Die, for Robyn. Go to extremes, for the Truth.
Part 5: Relationships With Others
53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
Others are generally treated politely, with the offer of a cookie when Ody feels the person is worthy. He has a strange sense of humor.
54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
Robyn Caliban. She is the love of his life, and the only one who sees him for who he really is.
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
Milo L'Evienne du'Galle. He is a person who will face any challenge without sacrificing any of his principles, unlike Ody who has done so more than once. Milo is an example, and the only person he would like to see on a throne.
56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.
I'd say Milo and Nell. For the most part he tends to keep away from people, to see unseen. He has nothing but the utmost respect for the two of them, they trusted him when he had nothing to prove himself with, and they are always eager to help. He feel he has done nothing for them in comparison.
57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person.
Robyn! She is a wonderful person who will always speak her mind - he thinks she is an embodiment of the Truth. When she starts speaking it is almost impossible to stop her, and she has a neverending charge of goodness despite a past of abuse and violence.
58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
Refer to #57. They met by accident in the Candarose Garden of Taralon, they were both at a crossroads in their lives. She had just freed herself from her husband S'Lon, who had enslaved her in her own home, and he was just wondering what the future would hold for him. Pretty much love at first sight.
59. What do you look for in a potential lover?
She needs to see through his countless layers, see him for who he is. He didn't really think anyone could accomplish this.
60. How close are you to your family?
Family who? Old family he doesn't want to meet. New family is Robyn and her daughter Angel, and they are very close.
61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?
Refer to #60. Robyn has managed to curb Ody's lone wolf tendencies, and in time he may become a family man - though one who is not above going on crazy quests every now and then. It is a... modern family.
62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
Milo and Nell. I mean, if they can't help, who can?
63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
Ody can't afford any such belief, however, he did entrust his bodyguard Rouel B'trakis with his life - and never received a scratch so long as she worked for him.
64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
Mostly Robyn. Ody doesn't want to be missed or mourned over, though. In the past, this was one of the reasons that kept him from making many friends.
65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
S'Lon Caliban. While he's never met the man, he tortured Robyn, branding her with a hot iron. Ody wants to experiment on him with spells he wouldn't try on a rat, and he almost wishes he were a Necromancer when he thinks about S'Lon - as a Mystic, he would only be able to kill him once.
66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
Working one's way around conflict is one way of dealing with conflict. When Ody willingly chooses conflict, he is confident that he has already won. He is however impatient in more trivial things, and while he is rarely angered, he is easily annoyed.
67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
He doesn't really like it, but he is capable of doing so, such as in Narim. Ideally, however, he is the mastermind that moves the strings in the dark and causes the good guys to win without them even knowing.
68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
Ody is slightly agoraphobic and feels uneasy in a large crowd. It is, however, an ideal scenario for using Mysticism and he can push back the feeling when he has to.
69. Do you care what others think of you?
Ha. Ha. Ha. Except the handful of people he respects, everyone else's judgment is irrelevant. Negative judgment may even reinforce his decisions.
Part 6: Likes And Dislikes
70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
Hunting for weird things, eating sweets, researching. You could call him single-minded to say the least.
71. What is your most treasured possession?
His Staff of Arcana, Kairos. The Staff has a voice of its own in Ody's subconscious, and they had a few conversations in his dreams. Kairos is the self-criticizing part of him, often scolding him for his arrogance and thirst for ultimate knowledge.
72. What is your favorite color?
Dodger blue as a color. On clothes, though, a contrast of black and white is best and represents his personality to perfection.
73. What is your favorite food?
Cookies, and sweets in general. Simple sweets more than anything, he finds that excessive fillings and added flavors spoil the taste. He is very much a gourmet in the field.
74. What, if anything, do you like to read?
Anything that no-one else among the living has read before.
75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?
Life is the best entertainment. He doesn't understand art, and he is incredibly dull when it comes to music - he failed his violin class. Art just isn't his thing.
76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?
He'd never dream of such things. Addictions limit one's freedom, which he values far too much. He got drunk exactly once in his whole life, and he never took any drugs.
77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
With Robyn, most likely. He is bad at planning events, though. It is the one kind of planning he is weak at.
78. What makes you laugh?
Not much, Ody is the grinning type rather than the laughing one. Only Robyn seems to manage it, by just being herself.
79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
Not much, not anymore. He rarely takes offence personally, and few things can really shock him after the Narim war. When he does get offended, however, he may show it right away.
80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
Ody doesn't really need to sleep. His Coffee Jolt spell allows him to keep himself awake when he wants to. As such, day and night are just words to him. Besides, he can easily cause himself to sleep instantly if he so wishes.
81. How do you deal with stress?
By eradicating its source in a witty and complicated way?
82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
Tough question here. Ody is a planner by temperament - a natural born chess player when it counts. However, in simple everyday matters, he is much more spontaneous and enjoys it when he can act like this.
83. What are your pet peeves?
Taboos are his pet peeves. Laws by extension. He deems himself above the law, and while he will try to conform to it when he can, he won't hesitate to break it when it clashes with his beliefs.
Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
A normal day is one that begins with breakfast - can't say much more than this, with all the divine interventions, wars, massacres, plots, experiments and the likes, breakfast is the one staple moment of his days. Ody gets in a sour mood if he can't have breakfast; his sugar-based metabolism requires frequent meals.
85. What is your greatest strength as a person?
Once he's set a goal for himself, he. Just. Won't. Stop.
86. What is your greatest weakness?
Pride is his sin. His hubris in believing that he can learn everything, do everything; it can be viewed as his weakness, though of course he would not think of it as such.
87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
A better sense of direction, no question there. Better as in not non-existant.
88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
Introverted, sometimes masked as false extroverted.
89. Are you generally organized or messy?
One would expect him to be organized, but he is actually incredibly messy. His room is brimming over with notes and parchment scattered all over the place.
90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
Planning, convincing people, getting in trouble.
Following directions on a map, singing, doing normal jobs.
91. Do you like yourself?
He could like himself better, given the outrageous amount of times he risked his life, but his opinion of himself is still a lot higher than his opinion of 99.9% of the denizens of Telath.
92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons...)
Understanding of the world and human nature. In the words of Terence, Ody's motto would be 'homo sum, nihil humanum a me alienum puto' (I am human, and I think that nothing human is alien to me).
93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
To visit the plane of Truth, Sonos, where all the truths and answers in the world are locked away. Ody wants every single one of them. He's got the Orochimaru gene deep inside.
94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
An Archmage? A hubby? A mad scientist? All of the above?
95. If you could choose, how would you want to die?
Just disappearing quietly. He is not the type who'd want to go with a bang, and certainly not in combat.
96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
He would spend the remaining time with his loved ones, write a letter perhaps, and finally commit suicide five seconds before his time, just to prove that he was in control till the very last.
97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
He doesn't really want to be remembered - recognition is not his driving force. His desire to own knowledge, while philantropic to a degree, is a self-centered one.
98. What three words best describe your personality?
Curious, determined, free
99. What three words would others probably use to describe you?
Cunning, stubborn, eccentric
100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice...)
I think you need a more varied diet and... bah, it's no use! He won't listen to me! He never does!
