Somewhere near Zerdagia a Hamster waits
The creature moved in swift but lumbering gait, its thick golden brown fur patterned with spots and stripes providing ample camouflage. Its stout broad body and short stocky legs made it appear rotund to a casual observer but this belied the true well muscled form.
It stood just under 3 foot at the shoulder its small round ears twitching and its nose sniffing the wind. Its fat cheek pouches contained some nuts and seeds it had gathered but what it really wanted now was meat, be it insect, bird, rabbit or a small deer.
Hearing a noise the giant hamster turned its head and wondered when the gnome whom it considered its pack-alpha would return...
(ooc The is "Serale" Orbrils giant carniverous Hamster left in the wilderness outside Zerdagia pending approvals. If Orbril does not return within two weeks "Serale" may revert to a semi-wild state...)

Having been reared by Orbril since it was a pup the giant hamster named Serale was partial to eating bugs, which along with mice, lizards, fish and sparrows was a big part of a gnomes diet.
Luckily Orbril had not neglected to teach Serale how to fend for itself in the wild and to wit the hamster pushed its way through the brush and was soon breaking into a rotted log to get at the grubs within...

Two days after he had entered Zerdagia Orbril emerged and headed for the woods.
He knew the area in which he had left Serale and hoped that she was not too far away and would at least hear his calls and whistles.
He whistled a high shrill whistle and waited for the hamster to respond...

The whistle rang through the edges of the mystical Dolwood, it was shrill, it sent birds out off their roosts into the air and woke up a Fae who had been dozing in the sunshine of a winters day, being woken up with a start is never pleasant especially if your choice of bed is the branch of a tree, the Fae staggered, the Fae uncharacteristically lost its balance, the Fae tumbled off the branch of the tree and into the air fortunately despite its surprise and indignation at being woken in such a fashion it managed to get its wings working in time to prevent a nasty accident.
Annoyed faes are not something one normally wants to meet they are magical they are mischievous and ……well!
The gnome was obviously the owner of the nasty shrill whistle and before Orbril could repeat his call to the hamster he was faced with a flying Fae in full teapot mode*
and what do you mean making that nasty noise you woke me up and I fell out of my tree? moaned the brilliant blue boy Fae Why are you in my corner of the woods who invited you ?
* both hands on hips. Silly British expression!

"Hold ye up there" said the gnome looking up and up and speaking with a direct flat tone "it was me whistling right enough but weren't fer mischief or spite"
Orbril looked over the fae making an assessment of how he should proceed as it wasn't always wise to offend someone on their own turf
"Your corner of the woods?" Orbril continued "is that so. Weeell me good lord I beg ye indolgencies. The whistlin' was a call to me friend, well a pet of sorts really, a giant hamster left foraging in these parts.
I'm Orbril by the by, of the Magerat Gnoba out o' Sherian, an' I'm honoured to be in such wondrous company" he bowed then although he never took an eye off the fae and hoped that his words were enough to call the fae from a boil to a gentle simmer...

The bright blue Fae smiled for the first time at the gnome and bobbed a mid air bow Oh that’s all right Orbril you just woke me up and I gets all grumpy when that happens. Still nothing broken so no need to be grumpy any longer. The name is Petrie Thistleblossom its nice to meet you.
The blue Fae flew onto Orbril’s shoulder and sat down, he weighed little more than a wet feather so it would hardly be an effort to carry the Fae for the gnome…. You can call me Pete. he whispered into Orbril’s ear So you are looking for your pet eh...What you call it a hamster?…Well we have had a funny critter around here for a cycle or so, big, yellow, snuffles a lot ,never stops eating and rooting around under logs, funny ears is that the fellow?

Orbril glanced sidelong at the fae as it set upon his shoulder and fought the urge to shrug
"glad to make yer 'quaintance Pete" he proffered as the fae gabbled on giving a generally accurate description of Serale
"Aye I'd say thats me Hamster" the gnome nodded carefully "big, yellow, never stops eating - so do yer know where she is now? she's practic'ly family"

Well I might know and then again I might not replied Pete the blue Fae somewhat mysteriously I knew where the beastie was last brightening …..but nowbright well nowbright is a different brightening don’t yer know! Last brightening he was with Dwermut the dwarf at his cottage. I saw the beardy one put a bit of string around Hamsters neck and take him back to the cottage. Now I don’t know what Dwermut was a thinking of whether he wanted a pet or whether he saw Hamster as a morsel for the pot well you will have to ask the walking beard himself.!
The Fae flew off his shoulder and giggled wickedly singing
“Hammy the pet or Hammy the pot
Dwermut the dwarf is where ’e’s got
Look in the Dolwoods where the suns expire
For the cottage so crude surrounded by fires
Petrie the Fae will fly all the way
Just so the gnome will not go astray!”
Come on slowcoach or it will be too dark for little gnomes in the deep dark
Dolwoods and he flew away a blue buzz of delight towards the setting suns of Telath stopping ever so often to giggle and dance on the air.
OOC~ Time for you to meet a new pc called Rorig and of course Dwermut the dwarf. So you can reply to this post and then make another post at Wild Dwarf Forages

As the fae talked Orbril remembered why he always found fae so fascinatingly annoying, he had loved the impropriety and high energy mischief when he were young but this was a crisis!
"Dwermut the dwarf at his cottage! right we best be getting there and recovering my Serale!"
Keeping up with the fae wasn't easy but he did his best scurrying, he'd been born a woodland gnome so scurrying through undergrowth and leaf litter wasn't unfamiliar and his was spurred on by Petries wicked little song
“Hammy the pet or Hammy the pot
Dwermut the dwarf is where ’e’s got
Look in the Dolwoods where the suns expire
For the cottage so crude surrounded by fires
Petrie the Fae will fly all the way
Just so the gnome will not go astray!”
