Llanwyn Siannodel is a benevolent Adventurer
[Castle Carmelya] The Begin the Rite {Part 1} Private

2nd Week of Pontius, Era I of the Celestine Mandate, Era XV Post Fractum.

Llanwyn's evening was beginning with how a darkening should end, with waking up. Being so exhausted, he had slept most of the evening before and the entire brightening. Now, just waking up from a much needed slumber, the oversized Fae was more than ready to begin a darkening of planning for his goal... the creation of a Circlet of Arcana.

The process would start here and now, meaning that Llanwyn would be living at the Castle for sometime. It was a good thing that he had a teleporter or two in his employ, otherwise it wouldn't be possible to do the rites while maintaining appearances, etc. It took multiple steps to create such an item, the first of which was to secure obsidianite. He would be doing this very soon, and at the same time purchasing all needed materials for an Altar of Unification. An'fel had fetched most of those earlier in the brightening.

Llanwyn took some time to meditate on what had to be done and his reasons for doing so. Since he had promised himself to fulfill a goal that would likely take his entire lifetime to fill, Llanwyn had only made baby steps toward it. He had been learned in Mysticism and eventually in Druidry, though not to his full ability at this point. And his goal, to become one with his mind and with nature, was a long way off... but a circlet of arcana would greatly help propel him toward his goal.

He had always seen arcana as the answer, effectively using it to understand the inner workings of the mind, the emotions and thoughts, as well as, the motivations of nature and his place in it. That's why he had decided to study two forms of arcana, that's why Llanwyn was a hedge mage despite any ridicule he may have received or would receive in time. He was steadfast in his decision, to the point of undergoing the creation of a Circlet of Arcana.

An'fel interrupted his meditation with a knock on the door before entering. "My lord, you wanted to see me?" The middle aged human came in and stood before Llanwyn who was sitting cross-legged on the floor.

"Yes An'fel, I will need to secure obsidianite, the rare stone. I will need enough of it to encircle my head twice. Can you find some for me?"

(OOC: Feel free to play An'fel)

There were always perks to holding an elevated office; in fact, there were bound to be plenty of perks. But being Archprelate for the Church of Faith was no small thing. In fact, his Holiness’ presence would nearly always be required by someone or another. That was the catch of his situation. His servant An’fel arrived shortly after he was summoned. He managed to find the necessary items for the rites but it was the material that proved quite difficult to fetch. In fact, it took quite a bit of skill to fetch and magically alter. The middle aged human was, by far, not the most keen to enter into Aslan’s Forge for some black rocks that are suppose to be the work of demons and the like. In fact, when the Archprelate rendered his request An’fel shuddered slightly before sweat suddenly appeared on his brow.

“Er, Your Holiness” he began “I am unsure how to say this but … journeying to Aslan’s Forge is not exactly my expertise.” He smiled apologetically before adding “but I will, however, happily fetch you some tea or run errands for you.” His smile grew more hesitant and less sincere. That and it was quite unkind for the Archprelate to send a servant to fetch obsidianite anyway. Wasn’t it hard enough to maintain a house or a castle no less?

But working with Llanwyn has made An’fel more resourceful and clever than most middle aged human servants. And before the Archprelate could either rebuke or dismiss him, he presented the oversized fae with a leather-bound tome of sorts. “I found it, Your Holiness, while purchasing the supplies you asked for. In total, everything cost almost 1,700 crowns.” He smiled shyly. There was no need to note that everything was charged to Llanwyn’s private accounts. “This book was the chunk of the cost. But I believe that you’ll find the information well worth the price, master.” He bowed as he handed the tome. It was large, bigger than most books that were meant for humans.

The leather seemed softer than it looked but the tome itself was much heavier than Llanwyn may have admitted. Should he take it and examine its contents, he’d find detailed accounts of the Circlet of Arcana Rites including some notes regarding where one could trade, buy, or even simply find obsidianite. Some such places included Vortex, Paxia, Medonia, Aelyria Prime, and of course Aslan’s Forge, Demios, and other mountainous and volcanic regions.

Llanwyn smiled at An'fel, who had misunderstood him. He stood slowly from his chair, stretching his back and folded wings. After a long yawn he spoke with a soft and friendly voice, "Thank you," taking the tome from him and sitting back down to flip open its cover. "I only meant for you to help me find a supplier of obsidianite, but perhaps this book will be helpful?" He raised an eyebrow in a dramatic flair and winked at An'fel before inviting him to have a seat across from him with a wave of his hand and smile.

"Please, sit friend... we'll explore this find of yours together."

Llanwyn opened the cover, its dusty contents floating down from the Archprelate's lap onto the stone floor below, looking like pixie fust in the crackling fire's light off to the side.

An'fel had chosen wisely, this would be quite a useful thing, this book. And as he flipped the pages of detailed illustrations and descriptions on the Rites of Unification and the like, he came across some loose notes he quickly unfolded and read. They appeared to be notes on locating obsidianite. He handed one sheet to An'fel with some excitement while looking at another.

"This appears to be exactly what we're looking for. What does yours indicate?"

What luck! An'fel had the discerning eye, that was for sure... and in this case he had just made Llanwyn's task at hand a tad easier to start on. Finding the black rock might be difficult to do, but he at least had a starting point. This would would the beginning of a great journey in arcana for the oversized fae.

Nightmare is an upstanding Citizen
OOC: Hey, I'll be taking over for Crimson, hope you don't mind

IC:An'fel's eyes opened wide in surprise as Llanwyn removed the loose notes held tightly within the pages of the tome he had purchased. Apparently it was a lucky find since An'fel did not know that the book had a previous owner, and much less that they had written down their own knowledge of the matter. He had just purchased the book at the suggestion of a friend who had seem him buying everything else. An'fel would have to remember to send a letter or gratitude, thanking his friend for pushing him onto such an important find.

An'fel had delicately reached over for the folded notes and opened them up, quickly scanning over it's contents. He then read them over once again to make sure he understood everything correctly before reciting his find. Apparently his piece of the notes had a map of the Aslan's Forge and where they could find what they needed. The map wasn't the greatest piece of artwork ever but it did show a general outline. Llawyn's pieces of the notes had names of other places where they figured they could find the vital ingredient. What stood out though was a name underlined and connected to Vortex. The name was Galha Bloorlet and next to it was written in parenthesis "must find".

"What do you think this all means, sir? I didn't know there was more than one place to find the Obsidianite? What do you think we should do?" An'fel asked, handing over his notes and looking to his master. Apparently they had a few options to choose from, none of them looking relatively easier than the other. Obsidianite was rare and finding it was going to be no easy task.

"I think this means we need to start here," he said, placing his forefinger forcefully on "Galha Bloorlet" in Vortex. Then he walked away from the papers and began pacing, thinking aloud. "These locations, it seems, are where we can find obsidianite, though that one in Vortex is plainly marked as a must find. Therefore, we shall start there. Something tells me we'll find any and all information we need there."

He looked at An'fel, "Arrest all of your other duties. We will leave immediately with a guard of Paladins. Pack little but what we will need, and some digging tools. I believe we may need to wander a bit off the path."

With that, Llanwyn left the room and approached a Paladin waiting outside within earshot. "Have your Captain assemble a guard in plain clothing. Have them wear light armor. Do this immediately and then have them meet me in front of the great house with horses."

After that, Llanwyn would leave and prepare himself, dressing in his leather armor under neutral-colored robes with leather boots and a cloak to shield his face. The everyday person who not recognize him anyway, but he would be careful. On his torso and back would be his set of throwing knives, including the enchanted ones, and with him he would bring his faithful cabbit, Espe.
