[Castle Carmelya] Delivering Furniture

Winter of Era II of the Celestine Mandate, First Month , Era XIV Post Fractum

OOC: This thread was never posted and not necessarily necessary, but I'm posting it for the sake of documenting the furniture delivery at the castle.

First post regarding this - here

Second post regarding this - here

A man from Kendrick's Furniture Shop in Primus Gadeo arrived mid-brightening on horse at the East gate. An'fel, the castle overseer greeted him after being alerted of his presence by the gate guard. The gates were open and he was allowed in as instructed prior by Lord Siannodel.

"The manor house is north, please follow me," An'fel said as he helped the man dismount and made sure the gate guard took care of his steed. "Please place the man's steed in the temporary stables, thank you." The gate guard nodded and took the horse by the reigns.

The man was given a tour of the manner house and he took notes on parchment in each room, taking measurements using string and having An'fel help him do so. After awhile, they had made their way through the entire house and the visitor homes nearby.

My early evening, before dark, An'fel led the man back to the east gate and thanked him for coming out, inquiring on how long construction and delivery would take. "I believe construction will take four more cycles, as we have already begun on the smaller pieces ordered my Lord Siannodel," he replied, "We will deliver on the fourth cycle, and it should take two brightenings to deliver and set up I'd imagine."

An'fel took note and led the man out of the city. "You should make it home just before darkening, so I don't advise you taking any strolls off the main road. Travel safely." The man thanked him and left.

Four cycles later, the castle received word that the furniture would be delivered the following brightening. This was good news as An'fel had personally overseen the cleaning of the manor house and guest homes. "Tomorrow, the furniture will be delivered. The furniture store will be handling the set up, but after it's delivered, we will need the linens properly distributed and the furniture dusted." The eight servants and maids he spoke to nodded, glad to finally see furniture in the houses.

The next brightening, the furniture came early. Three wagon loads arrived at the gate and the drawbridge was lowered to let them cross. The wagons rolled all the way through the castle and up to the houses. Then the laborers started to unload the furniture and carry it piece by piece to the appropriate house and appropriate room.

An'fel directed them with where each piece was to be placed and thanked them for their hard work as the house began to take more and more shape. The main sitting room was still vacant, but in time that would take shape. The delivery of this brightening was specifically for the beds, tables, chests and chairs for the rooms. An'fel was told that the next brightening's delivery would be the banquet table. It would be trying to move into the house An'fel was sure, but they would manage.

After most of the brightening, the men had finally finished carrying and constructing the furniture successfully. The beds came in pieces and had to be made, then their matresses and blankets were put upon them. Finally just before dark it was done and the ten men from Primus Gadeo started on their way home.

The next brightening, the wagons arrived a little later than the day before. It was just before noon and the guards lowered the drawbridge as they had the day before. An'fel came to greet the men and then they got to work. The table came in two parts, each rougly eleven feet long with four legs. The legs were of beautiful crafting, thick pedistals on which the solid top would rest. The entire table, like the beds and pieces the brightening before was well made and beautiful to look upon.

The table came together nicely with the colors of the floors and walls in the manor house's dining room. It sat comfortable in the center of the room. Above it hung an old, recently polished and cleaned, wooden chandelier. It was a beautiful relic, though not necessarily precious in anyway. It fit well with the woodland surrounding the castle and was likely made of the very wood that was cut to build this fortress.

The chairs came next and were placed around the table. Each chair had upon it a finely stitched cushion. The cushions sat on the chairs with a slight lip around the edge of the wood to keep them from slipping off. They were a deep red in color, all matching accept for the ones on each end. Those had taller backs and dark blue cushions. In all, it was a very nice dining set.

After everything was set up, the maids polished the top of the table and dusted the cushions appropriately. The men packed up their wagons and left, thanking An'fel the his employer for their business and suggesting that if they need more for the main room they need only go to Kendrick's. An'fel thanked them and lead them to the gate where they left for Primus Gadeo.
