First Brightening of Spring, Era XIV
Suddenly the racket of the Green Goblin common room was hushed with a bestial shout.
”Quiet scum! I am speaking now!. Around Ogrim gathered the wretched and wealthy of Riparia though all were of the criminal element, they pressed closer, hoping to hear clearly what one of the crime leaders of the diverse city had to say lest they missed out on some important morsel of information. Now satisfied that he could speak without competition, the greenskin opened his maw and issued his edict.
”The Aelyrian Fight Club League is to be re-opened. At considerable cost the old AFCL arena has been refurbished and made suitable for gladiatorial combat once more. Soon, blood and sweat will soak into the sand of the pit and its walls will resonant with the baying of the crowd.” Pausing to draw breath the scum and villainy murmured amongst themselves. Some were for it, others against and some had not yet formed an opinion. One thing they did realise was that the fighting league would expand business for everyone, both legal and illicit, and that would mean crowns and they were a commodity in which everyone shared an interest.
”Ten cycles from now,” , the uruk barked harshly,
”will be the grand re-opening of the Aelyrian Fight Club League. There will be fighting, there will be feasting and yes, there will be entertainment! Spread the word, both in the city and throughout the provinces that the AFCL is back and keen to win back its reputation as the finest, most illustrious sporting organization the Empire has ever seen!”
Ogrim’s excitement for the Fight Club was infectious and quickly loud though indistinct shouts could be heard form amongst the throng of ne’er do wells gathered in the common room.
”Do any of you have questions?”
